Evans Daedra Project 3
A short documentary about the museum Dallas Heritage Village in by University of Texas at Dallas' MFA student, Daedra Evans. The museum is located in Dallas, Texas in Old City Park near the city center.
"Nestled just shy of the city center Dallas Heritage Village takes visitors back in time to rediscover how amazing history can truly be. The 20 acre expanse of the village is home to the largest collection of 19th century Pioneer buildings in Texas. The buildings themselves represent an array of homes and commercial structures procured from North Central Texas for preservation.
Each building whisks visitors into the past by showcasing the building's historical function. Whether visitors hope to discover what a 19th century doctor's office looks like or understand the workings of a farmstead in the 1800s -- there is some revelation for just about everyone.
Dallas Heritage Village receives partial funding from the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and the Texas Commission on the Arts which in conjunction with tickets sales helps support the restoration projects and buildings maintenance. A member of the American Alliance of Museums and an institutional member of the Texas Association of Museums Dallas Heritage Villages is a must --see hotspot for many North Texas' schools'
Walking down the villages main thoroughfare visitors may encounter one of the many educators dressed in the vintage garb or partake in carriage ride with a team of donkeys.
The Museum's history is as interesting as the buildings it cares for. The Village sits on top of what was once Dallas' first park which in 1876 was quaintly called City Park. Dallas' first spring fed water supply, Browder Springs, runs directly under the Village grounds.
The neighborhood surrounding the original City Park was called the Cedars, an affluent neighborhood of merchants and businessmen. The Cedars soon disappeared and after the Second World War only highways seemed to live downtown.
In 1966, the planned destruction of a beautiful antebellum plantation home, the Millermore, banded a group of local women together forming the Dallas Heritage Society, to save the building at all cost.
The newly formed Dallas Heritage Society contacted Ray Hubbard, the then president of the park board with the notion of rebuilding the Millermore in the once City Park. Upon it's opening in 1969 the monument to living Texas history was called Old City Park..
Over the years the museum has expanded and brought life to buildings of all sorts. In 2005, the museum evolved to its current namesake becoming a true reflection of the living breathing museum it is today."

Your vids are great....... but the titles of the vids are way too generic. Wish I could determine the subject matter of each individual vid BEFORE clicking (on each) in order to select the exact subject matter I'm looking for. Just my two cents.

Hi....I watched all of the videos you provided while you created this piece of jewellry and tho I thought it was long I saw that it took you a few mths wow! Good on you for finishing it but more then that thank you ...for each video was very very informative. I learned much about your thought process, your experiences with all the different tools you used and the substances you used. You are a fantastic and creative and informative teacher! Rock on ....:) Tho you did say that you were using a lot of products that could be 'found around the house" I had to laugh for they aren't around my house. But thankfully you did say where to get them and for about how much. Thank you!!!!

We did glue the pictures then baked them in one step using the Bake and Bond Sculpey, but you can do it either way.We hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other help! Thanks for the comment

Might want to look a bit closer Kristopher. The image is also a Victorian era portrait. All of the gears are watch parts and so on. I can see why you might misconstrue it, but it is there. Thanks for the comment though!

For placing the headpin or for simply "gluing" the picture to the sculpey? Well if you want you can bake the headpin or loop into the clay that works really well. If you dont have the sculpey bake n bond (which I really recommend getting it is the best way) you can try some of the other craft glues out there like E6000 or even superglue, but they may not yield the best results.
