Down the Garden Path with Jekka McVicar, Season 2
An organic grower of herbs and horticultural author, designer, consultant, RHS judge, @jekkasherbs.
With over sixty RHS Gold medals for her Herb Exhibits, which includes fourteen gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show. Jekka has created herb gardens for both @TheRaymondBlanc and @JamieOliver.
Jekka’s Farm is home to the largest collection of culinary herbs in the UK, over 400+ varieties, based on the outskirts of Bristol. Jekka aims to educate and inspire gardeners and cooks of all ages.
I had such fun visiting Jekka at her herb farm, which both her and her family have lovingly built over the last twenty years. It was a real pleasure to get to know and spend the day with her.
So, sit-back, watch and learn from this amazing woman!

As we have said before, the common thread in all of these videos is the connection to our pasts and where our gardening journeys have rooted from and then the forward journey to passing on that knowledge to the next generation. 👏🏻🪴

I love the espaliered red currant bushes. I am going to try it. I live in Chicago but my aunt in Austria made a great cake with them (and would add them to vanilla pudding). I do wonder if it will make it easier for the birds to help themselves to the fruit.

No dig clearly works, but. You spend more time making compost than you do digging. Unless your gardening a very small area. Try no dig gardening a full sized allotment!!!!

The soul and heart of your garden is clear 😍 Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I would love to visit. Ade, I love the common thread that is running through all of the videos in this series of a link with generations past, particularly grandparents. It really shows just how important the things we are doing now are for the future of gardening. The younger generations are always watching and I really hope that my two boys continue to see the magic of gardening as they grow.

A privilege no doubt, for all of us, that the Beth Chatto Trust goes on, under Julia and her wonderful staff. I studied Beth's books and immediately adhered to her ideas, and had the joy of visiting the garden 4 times, two of which had a small chat with her. She was surprised that we came all the way from Argentina... A great gardener and a charming lady... In 2018 I could go to the First Symposium and enjoyed it immensely, and this year could be a virtual participant. Congratulations ALL of you for a great job very well done... Elsita Schulte
