      That is a good question. I actually don't know. I plan to capture the reveal (assuming I can get it done in time!) and put together a video on that. We'll have to see what happens from there. At that point, anything that happens to the car will be based on what Bryson wants to do. So I suppose there might be more car content, but if so I expect Bryson to be the one doing it. I'll help if he wants me to. So, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the future brings. Thanks for sticking around for it!

      Good luck with your install. You don't need the black wire out of the voltage switch. The only reason you might use it is if you need to switch ground for something. You don't want to connect it to ground because that would defeat the switch.

      @someguyzgarage Місяць тому

      We put new tanks and sending units on it. Got em from LMC Truck. Wiring goes from each sending unit into the switch on the dash, then from the switch to the Dakota box. Gauge shows the level of the selected tank.

But also say make sure you ground the pump ground. So then splice the negative sending unit wire to chassis and the other goes to fuel- on DD box?

    • @someguyzgarage
      @someguyzgarage Місяць тому

      @@luismoreno2383 I would have to go look at what we did to be sure (it's been a minute), but for one thing, we're using a mechanical fuel pump, so there's no wire for that in our case. My gut says you don't want to use the chassis as ground for the sending unit because of the electrical noise from the ignition. This is pretty common for sensors and gauges.

    No the material you are using does not show how well the sound is dampened or reduced as you are not even knocking with your hand. When you leaned in and was speaking I could hear the sound of your voice echo/reverberating when you were near the dash cavity. But could also hear your hand making noise as you dragged your hand over the surface of the area you lined. Lining, sound decoupler and insulating are things best resolved one at a time. When you truck was made they merely painted it. Perhaps put down some sort of composite liner. Finally carpeting perhaps. I'd suggest a decoupler like Amazon Basics, Kilmat, or Dynamat for example. Then I'd go with a closed cell foam insulator like Siless. Finished off with carpeting.

    I've seen some cases where a faulty radiator cap would cause the cooling system to go into a vacuum when cooled back down, collapsing the coolant hoses. Normally the radiator cap would allow coolant from overflow reservoir to flow back into radiator when system is cooling down and contracting. I'm just theorizing that maybe it was under a vacuum and that pulled the O-ring inwards... Seems like there should be a groove/shoulder or something to trap that O-ring in place. Good luck.

    Great video! I bought a DC-DC charger, but every video is for Camper vans and not Tow Vehicle / Trailer! This explained a lot. One question: Can you not use the DC-DC charger over the 7 pin harness and avoid running the 8 gauge wire? What would the max amps to send over, probably 15 feet on that thinner gauge already built in?

    • @someguyzgarage
      @someguyzgarage 2 місяці тому

      Glad you found it helpful. I don't know exactly what gauge wire you have on your 7 pin connector, but typically the White (ground) wire, the Red or Black (power) wire, and the Blue (brake power) wire are all 12 gauge. The remaining Green (right turn/brake) wire, the Yellow (left turn/brake) wire, the Brown (tail lights) wire, and the Purple (reverse light) wire are typically 16 gauge. A 12 gauge copper wire is rated to handle about 20 amps over a 15 foot distance. So, if your charger is the 20A version, and you have 12 gauge wire, and you have nothing else on that circuit, you could probably get away with it. If you try it, you might just check that wire periodically. If it gets warm or shows signs of heat stress, you'll know it's overloaded. Good luck!

      @someguyzgarage I bought the 50a version. It allows you to select current draw maximum. However I decided to just copy what you've done here instead. Bought some 4awg and will be wiring it up this weekend. Thanks for the response!

    • @rvhtravels
      @rvhtravels Місяць тому

      I know this is an older thread now. However, I asked Renogy if I could hook up my 20 amp DC charger to the 7 pin of my Ram 1500. Their response was positive. However, they did say I need to make sure all connections are tight to prevent overheating. Also I told them I would run the charger a max of 5 hours. The 7 pin positive on the Ram is protected by a 30 amp fuse. The DC charger can draw 50 % more than its ratings, so 30 amps is right there. I doubt, however, that it will draw its max unless the batteries are pretty low. So an option if you don't want to run heavier gauge wires.

    Yea, you're never done with Mechanical or Electrical on 7s, It sucks but it's tough love

      I mostly don't mind the mechanical issues, cause that's the stuff I like to do. However, I really want it to be mechanically sound and reliable by the time Bryson gets home, and I keep thinking I've reached that point... and then something like this hits. I have to remind myself how far it's come and temper the pursuit of perfection.

    S4 FC issue..floods, fix is easy to switch across the fuelpump relay coil. S5 was corrected by factory.

    Hey man. I noticed your left turn signal seems to be blinking faster than normal. If you replace the bulb it may take care of that.

      Thanks. You're very observant. It's probably doing that because I put led bulbs in it. :)

    what are the wheel specs?

    • @someguyzgarage
      @someguyzgarage 2 місяці тому

      Wheels are Enkei 18s. I believe they are 8.5" wide with a 35mm offset. It's been a while. I have 5mm spacers in the front and 20mm spacers in the rear. Here's the video for the wheel install: ua-cam.com/video/x4cpIJBdnes/v-deo.html I bought mine used, so I don't remember for sure, but I think these are the wheels: www.fitmentindustries.com/buy-wheel-offset/467-885-6535BK/enkei-raijin-18x85-35?suspension=Stock
