Unfortunately this approach does not work if your Revit models are hosted in the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC formerly BIM 360). The Publish Coordinates command is disabled and the Aquire Coordinates command needs to be used. It would be good to have a very detailed video for a setup with multiple buildings on one site. I could make that video but would prefer if someone made that has more following and is in the UA-cam game :)
Good video but it unfortunately does ignore a major problem that Autodesk has not resolved: 1. Georeference points in Civil surveys are often very far away from the projects. Civil files have the ACAC origin at the geo-reference point. The coordinates of their World Coordinates System of the ACAD file match the real world coordinates of the survey. CAD programs are vector based programs that calculate point locations with vectors based on one origin point. ACAD can handle that the origin point is far away from the project location (which leads to tiny angles between the vectors). Just imagine two points 2” apart measured from 10 miles away, the angel between them is tiny. Revit is a less accurate program than ACAD. When you link a ACAD file where the origin is 15 miles away from the project the content starts to “dance around” when you zoom in. Not a good thing when a point you like to reference in your project changes location depending on the zoom level. 2. Here is a work around that we have been using: a) Move all content (preferably Civil does this) in the ACAD dwg file to an agreed upon reference point near your project. In our case we use the lower left or right corner of the boundary line. B) Civil provides the GEO coordinates of this point. C) Use the Revit command to set the coordinates at this point. With this command the SURVEY POINT jumps to the origins ACAD origin (the one that was far away) and all coordinates in the Revit file are proper GEO coordinated. The problem with this approach: Civil does not use this file because they are used to have the WCS reflect real GEO coordinates. A possible solution would be if Civil Engineers would agree to set up a UCS for real world coordinates and keep the ACAD origin and WCS at the lower left or right corner of the Boundary line or any other agreed upon reference point near the project. This is my understanding. Please weigh in if I got anything wrong or if you found a better solution.
thank you!
That is a parametric box, not a parametric title block
It works!!😀 muito obrigado!
It keeps notifying me that " the dwg file has extents greater than 1E9. Data exceeding that range will be truncated" what does that mean and if I go ahead, I only see a very small side of the drawing. I need assistance
I followed the step in the video opened a new file, zoom extent, set my unit but to no avail
thanks for this!, why when i am trying to input the coordinates (project base points) that was given to me in the EIR, revit refuse and it shows me an error message that base point can't be located far than its started location than 15km
There has been a critical error on this website. if there any how you can reupload the code
thank you bro, this solved my problem!
please add audio description rather than just music
Please using audio rather than music to descrbe what you are doing...perhap add audio to this tutorial thank you

Yes great one 💯
Didn't you lose all the coordinate information?
Thank you for your comment, in fact if you are going to use this file into revit , there is no need to keep coordinates in it , you can manually specify coordinates in Revit and keep the dwg file clean
YEsss. This is what I am searching over 1 years. Thank you so much...
Glad I could help!
This tutorial is awesome! Thanks a lot
Glad I could help!
Please so if i do this with the arch file...and relink my mep work the sockets will not lose association?
if your project is linked with shared coordinates , you'll not lose association
another question, why you used actual start and completions? arent you doing it for initial planning scheduling? i hope i am not missing anything
you did not enter any dependencies into the schedule, why? no ss or FS etc relationships, is there anything in particular that relates to REVIT so you did that?
Hi!!! Parts option not active for sloped floors. Can u help
It didn't work, can you do another video with latest methods. It will be helpful
yes we did a new video , here's the link ; ua-cam.com/video/HjdjMMdfba4/v-deo.html&lc=UgzAJrxHR51UEVsxcI14AaABAg&ab_channel=BIMandbeam
What do I do when, when I get an error "The project base point cannot be placed more than 10miles/16 kilometres from its startup location" ?
you need to clean up the dwg file before inserting it into revit
The video ignores this important problem. Please see my post in the main thread with a workaround.
Lost
here is the link for the new video updated , ua-cam.com/video/HjdjMMdfba4/v-deo.html&lc=UgzAJrxHR51UEVsxcI14AaABAg&ab_channel=BIMandbeam
Thank you so much! Amazing Vídeo"
Glad I could help!
hello, how to fix the élévation please
you need to move the link in an elevation view or section
What is the definition of a Georeferenced DWG Survey File? Is it a DWG file with a coordinate system set? Also, are the coordinates in your example, Grid coordinates (vs. Ground/Surface)?
THANKS SO MUCH -PLEASE SEND LINK FOR BIM ONE
What kind of autodesk version are you using?
in this video, I use Revit and AutoCAD 2020, but the process works for all versions of Revit
Does the site file acquire coordinates by modeling creation with the DWG inserted? Or, at this stage, are the coordinates from the DWG also published to the site file? Subsequently, the coordinates from the site file will be published to the ARC, STR, and MEP files.
in total, we acquire coordinates from dwg file into the site file , then we publish the coordinates from the revit site file to all disciplines
@@bimandbeam965thank your sharing! i have 2 qeustions. in other yt share, they say is a disease if aquire the cooridnates from DWG? i just want to know why(even my practice is same to yours) second, if some MEP or STR models already “be shared coordinated” we cannot pulbish the coorindates to them. so how to resolve it? i think this is a common challenge for users:< Thanks!!
sorry ,stipud question , is that be more nice that the survey points always keep 0,0,0, for all differnet models but they work in the same site??thank you very much.
Thank you so much sir
So nice of you
Notepad can't open huge models
You can use notepad++ , it works for me for complex models
Thank you so much for the clear explanation! You've solved a big headache for me. 🙏🙏🙏
Glad it helped!
Thanks!
Welcome!
i can not understand what happens on 3:53 ? can not repeat and follow
hey, I applied the filter to show only empty rows that have no elevation, then selected all of them, then delete to show only the points that have elevation value
I am Revit civil modeler, OOT...why everytime I export to CAD the Revit SHEET containing site geo coordinates, the exported CAD file not resulting the right geo coordiantes...??
Hello Akmal, We'll publish a video tomorrow on how to fix this, stay tuned
ua-cam.com/video/5f5l48XE4Vo/v-deo.html here is the link for the video on how to do this
Yeah, now it makes sense 😅 Thanks!
Happy to help!
Now it makes sense, your video is very educational. I already resolved several doubts I had.

This video went from helpful at first to going too fast. It may have been adequate for someone who already knows, but for someone needing to learn, it wasn't. I'd rather have a verbal explanation accompanying all the actions instead of annoyingly repetitive musical beats. Sorry.

Glad you liked it!
Finally, what I was looking for! Because when you search for Revit project phasing organization, it usually reffers to Revit standard phasing of New, Demolished, etc. But normally in Europe we use the term phasing for the project management, just like you show here. ! Thanks for the tutorial !
Glad it was helpful!
