NAGA: Battle at the Beach 8. August 5, 2007. 115lb-129lbs. White Belts. Mike Manzo wins division in 3 rounds with 3 armbars. Total mat time adds up to roughly 3:10. Representing Team Serra. www.manzoinc.com www.serrajitsu.com www.nagafighter.com
This was the first live version, the shorter version. Tomas said in interview that they didn't even think of trying to play it live at first, then it was the sorter version and as they built up their stamina, they were able to play the entire thing. That track is so demanding even top musicians like them have to take it with baby steps lol.
The ghost notes make this song so much cooler for my fellow drummers but we can also probably agree that it makes it 10 times harder to play. This man is unreal. Meshuggah: If dividing by zero had a sound.
awesome
that's not human
Good God... He is awesome!
imagine stealing a band name
I bet after this session he already had a long beard and hair
Thanks for the bad stereo sound for headphones.. my ears bleed now.
A drumming legend and magician. One of the greatest to EVER sit behind the kit. If his name isn’t mentioned on your list of influences, you’re not a drummer. Lol.
I still wonder how John Bonham is still rated the top drummer of all time after watching this.
Apples and oranges, completely different genres and styles
bitte befruchte mich
Wtf
it so охуенно блять!
My brain farted 3 times when I tried to imagine doing the kicks :|
Leg muscles like tree trunks
the craziest part is how he can manage to keep those ghost notes in this marathon smh.
Just fucking awesome! Haake is incredible man
What a fuckin' beast!
Love the pure sound of these drums
I kinda want to sub, but u have 420 atm and I don't wanna ruin that
The double kick pattern really sounds like a parked Harley Davidson with the engine running.
hahah... yes
Harley riders WISH their bikes sounded that bad ass
Cheezeburger Walrus lol ok. Apparently you’ve never heard a shovel head idling
Ohhhh Lioto Machida jajajajaj Nice Drum cover
It seems this Terminator has epilepsy.: Defective.
Calves of steel
Awesome job bro ! keep on playing like this, you gained one subscriber ;)
Bullshit - Carcinogen is a band from the early 90's....a precursor to Dystopia
+keithen77 That disbandoned, and never attained mainstream success under that name. One demo. Therefore it was free game to take it in 2009.
Mad Max they were a local band to me in oc, I idolized them, went to shows, could play the whole album on guitar... I hate that these guys took the name
What a fucking beast!
Dude, those ghost notes are spot on, well done man \m/
well done !!!
That sounds very nice! And you're young... Keep playing hard!
Wow for one year you are a good level !!! Good sound !!! And very good cover !! METAL \m/
What's the point of ghost notes that you can't hear at all?
You can't hear them? They're actually very clear in this mix. To try and answer your question, well if they're played, it most certainly is the intention of the drummer to have them heard. Now if they can't be heard on the record, I'd be tempted to say it's a mix fail, or maybe they made the final mix sound too crowded (sometimes you realize that way down the road, depending on mix preferences and directions). And if they were not supposed to be heard in the first place, of course they have no point musically speaking, but they still could be relevant from a playing perspective (hand balance and motion fluidity, drummer's personal preference when writing/practicing the drum part, feeling weird if you don't play them because you're used to, etc.). I hope this helps :)
Nix Neato It might just be that the snare's on his snare are tuned low enough that it doesn't really cut through the bass and cymbal that well.
DarthYutsi That's what I meant by "mix fail". Anything meant to be heard but which isn't, means there was a problem at the mix.
As far as I know ghost notes are used to help a drummer keep their beat. I've heard drummers use them just to add some 'flavor' to a song as they can sound really cool.
Timing. I used to think they were pointless but that's when they didn't help me with timing. Now I can see how they can be helpful. It feels really odd when you try it for the first time but then after a while it starts to make sense and feel more natural, and helpful.
Perfect
thats pretty good man well played
Great drum track, one that I cant play but would like to.
Fucking outstanding!
you're a master *-*
look at those calves.
I am amazed.
Then he plays another 6 or so songs. Brutally amazing.
Amon Amarth annotation on a Meshuggah video?? :D Really?
Sweet kit... and you sound great.
Te rompen la cabeza que fiesta
this is REALLY good but you need to change your name carcinogen was a sludge band from the 90's =l
Agreed
Good cover, well played ^^ There are 2 parts though that I'm not entirely certain on. To me it sounds like in the refrain he plays crash cymbals with both hands and comes down with the left for the snare hits. The other thing is that in the chorus I can't quite determine if he only plays the "highlighted" notes on the ride or plays more consistently and accentuates them. I haven't seen their drummer play the song so I'm not sure on either of these although I'm fairly certain about the refrain. The chorus is just very hard to clearly analyze because of the guitar.
Just hearing the bass kicks makes my legs go numb.
Should check out Mattias IA Eklundh's track "Musth", guy plays the guitar with his comb, not to mention Tomas Haake does some superb drum timing.
Could you post the drum recording on it's own?
This is an old performance. Haake is running two rack toms.
I know your comment is 6 years old, but the video is 12 years old lol
Danny Carey shouldnt even be mentioned. anytime i post in "top ten drummers" forums, I start my list at #2, because anyone with ears knows no other drummer or musician comes anywhere near carey, he is on a level of his own, no musician before or after him will ever be able to do what he has done. no question.
Mike Portnoy. Nuff said
nah man I love carey, he is my favourite drummer. But there's never a definitive thing like that when it comes to these great musicians.
agronnak Hahahahahaha oh, wow... Mike Portnoy is an amazing drummer, better than I could ever hope to be... But Danny Carey is better than Mike Portnoy could ever dream of being... Ten times over.
FordFan197 Exactly
rastabg23 Jojo Mayer?
fuckin mind blowin
