All About Phoenix Rasbora: the Teensy Hardy Beauty
Phoenix rasboras are one of those puny species that look like they should be delicate and a bit of a pain to keep. But actually they are remarkably hardy and able to live comfortably in a wide range of tank situations - just don't house them with tank mates big enough to see them as a snack.
My favourite fishy stuff! (yes these are affiliate links :) )
Lights
Nicrew Classic LED - amzn.to/3fG3Uv6 - Traditional led light that's got a nice high output in a white/cool colour range. Makes plants look extra green.
Nicrew SKY - amzn.to/3Ktn45U - really nice light for natural looking tanks, also the one I use for filming.
Filters
Pat Mini - amzn.to/3fE1u0k - popular for a reason, just a superb little filter thats great for shrimp tanks and fish alike.
ASAP - amzn.to/3nBuytp - the old favourite and the one i return to most frequently.
Air Pump
AP-3 Kit : amzn.to/34UMA3q - Great little air pump, not a silent runner, but has been very reliable for me.
Tanks
Scaper 45 - amzn.to/3KBxG2H - a lovely high quality tank that comes with a super strong light, and a decent enough hang on back filter - perfect for newbies and scapers alike.
My filming stuff
Camera - Cannon 200D - amzn.to/354OLlc - nice camera, easy to use.
BigTripod - Manfrotto befree - amzn.to/3GLXDdj - pricey but super sturdy and can take being knocked over a lot by clumsy operators.
Lil' tripod - amzn.to/355WmQs - can't pronounce the name but it's been a good tripod for filming things on tables or when I have tanks on the floor.

All About Flame Tetras (Von Rio Tetra): A Hidden Gem for a Shadowy Tank
Переглядів 1,3 тис.21 день тому
Flame tetras - also known as red tetras and von rio tetras - are a not so commonly seen species of hyphessobrycon, similar to serpae and widow tetras. They are a beautiful species to keep if you can give them a large enough tank and plenty of dark shadowy places so they can really show off their red colouration. They are greedy and apparently very easy to breed - personally, i have never tried ...

How to Culture Microworms. NO yeast: Banana worms, Walter worms, Microworms.
Переглядів 2,3 тис.6 місяців тому
Micro worms are my go-to food for fry as they are just so much easier to keep than baby brine shrimp and once the culture is established it keeps going for as long as you feed it, always being available for feeding to fry. Do not use yeast in this culture is it can produce alcohol if it ferments with sugars from the bacteria - which will kill of your worms. This little video is about how to cul...
How to Get Rid of Hair Algae from an Aquarium
Переглядів 24 тис.7 місяців тому
Hair algae is a pain in fish tanks - it grows fast, it covers everything in a carpet of green and worst of all it can trap and kill small fish if its dense enough. There are plenty of myths out there about the best ways to get rid of hair algae including certain fish that will eat it, but to be honest the only reliable method i have come across for hair algae removal is to do it the old fashion...

BROWN OR PALE SEE THRU BROWN
Thanks for sharing these adorable fish. Have you ever seen any sort of mating behavior from them? I have Maculatus and am super curious to know if Rasboras (other than cpd's) have been bred readily in the hobby.
This is such an underrated channel. Your choice of video and voice are so soothing
I have one that is HUGE over 6 inches for sure
Nice little fish. Thank you!
I'm so glad when your videos pop up at the top of my feed 😊 I love my rasboras/boraras having chillies and dwarves. Got to accommodate phoenix and exclamation points in the future
I really enjoy your videos because I get to see a lot of the fish while learning. I have 8 chilis, and they seem much bolder by comparison - some are always out and if any of us go to watch it only takes a minute before all have appeared, I assume to beg for food.
Love em, have phoenix, chillis and exclamation points in my 240. Have around 50
Boraras is olmost like intentional inversion ov syllables of the rasbora ...😊
How about breeding them?
Seconded, would love to know how to get a breeding colony of these guys
I wonder if some of these boraras species can interbreed.. My fav fish family but they travel poorly I dont recommend ordering them online, buy them from shops if they are in good condition. Also from my experience, all these micro rasboras are not at all shy fish once they have settled in.
I read danios can’t go in a tank with no lid as they jump. Is that true?
Thank you!
Please make an endlers livebeares guide my favorite fish
0:19 Lol I'm watching this because I'm a kid wanting my oldest cory catfish to have a name suitable for his or her gender heh
A compiled video with stops in the film and arrows pointing out the details. Great video. Thank you
Curious to see how this goes, I keep Blue, Leopard, Celestial, and Zebra danios, never had the pearl version
My experience with red eyes they are very tough species. I set up my large fish tank over year ago, bought 8 of those tetras and till now i have 7 . It's very good resoult. I lost plenty neons, the same with panda corydoras . The worst survival rate i had with zebra danios . Bought about 10 and now im left with one or two . Otosinclus is doing very well , and they supposed to be difficult fish to keep. Going back to red eye tetras, tiny menagerie mentioned that they are brave fish. Absolutely not in my thak . They are the biggest cowards possible. Any movement in my living room and they run away under cover . And is very seldom to see them all , even during feeding only two or three the bravest shows up from under cover. But that is my experience i my tank .
The only youtuber saying the truth while others promise doing this or that will remove it over night.
Learnt something new, courgette 😂
Thanks for the content, I want a badis but worry about disrupting shrimp in my tank and the effort of feeding them. I have a lot of snails and I saw that you do as well - do you find the badis control the shrimp population at all? Anyway, love the footage, I like getting to know how the fish will behave.
Thank you for another informative video, Lauren. Your redeyes certainly look healthy. No mention of breeding, though?
Had to get them out as they were eating all new shoots of rotala
Wow your black tigers are absolutely gorgeous
Another great video!
They are able to hunt smaller neocardinia shrimp. Some of my red cherry, not fully grown, but definitely not shrimplet were swallowed by them. Fully sized ones were able to survive encounter okay
Loved this video, currently cycling a 40b rio salobra river biotope aquarium and I think these guys will be the first schoolers I personally would love to see a menagerie video on moenkhausia bonita, or the “Bonita tetra” if possible
Thanks for another informative video. Your videography is one of the best in aquarium category. You could consider making longer videos with just background music for relaxing watching.
I had a very traumatic experience with these guys, they were rescued from someone who wanted to dump them somewhere but it was too late, at least they passed knowing they were loved. watching this video reminded me of that, I shall give these fish the love they deserve.
I really like this fish, someday I would love to have a large tank of them
I would love it, if you made a serie with goodnight stories, that i could fall asleep to <3
Watch father fish
Love from india❤❤❤
Quite late to ask this😅, but do you still have them? I'm currently trying to get my Pair to spawn, but they refuse to
The golden WCMMs have BLUE EYES ! Why didn’t you say?! I was given one yesterday to join my silver ones for company and now I have to go n get some more blue eyes, they’re irresistible!! 🙏✝️✌️
That staring contest with the cherry shrimp was fun
Black ruby barbs are a good alternative to tigers for more peaceful tanks. They don't fin-nip other fish, stay a bit smaller, and don't even bully each other too aggressively. Yet still have all of the confidence that shyer fish need to feel safe (like my cardinal tetras).
These were my first cories and now I want them in every tank. Mine are a little skittish but I love watching them perch on plant leaves or disappear into my hairgrass carpet. I "only" have 8 in my planted 20. Maybe a few more might help them stay out in the open more...
Very intriguing and inspiring! Would love to see updates
My amano lived to 7 years at least. I don't know exactly. I got it as adult. As it got old and big, it definitely went for live and well fry and smallest nano fish.
It is first video about this process I found! ❤❤❤
Best looking tiger barb variety
I love em. They're really hardy surviving two moves and my heater going out.
One of my favourite Cory's. "Brick with a tail" sums Sterbai up perfectly:)
Thanks for another informative video!
Urgh, what's 1.5 inches to the rest of the world?
3.81 cm
@NathanEllisBodi I know. I just don't like it when people with a global audience use imperial only.
Do these corys have a barb and release a toxin under extreme stress? This is currently a myth I’m trying to bust and is what’s stopping me from considering keeping them.
Could another option just be to set up a hospital tank with the no planarian and extract the affected shrimp to that tank?
You’ve really sold me on these. Thanks for highlighting them.
Ive never kept amanos but I think after this i might try 🎉
Love these little guys
