Economic Apocalypse Now – Are We Weeks Away From Global Financial Meltdown?
Jon’s been getting disturbing dispatches from Andrea.
voicesinthedark.world/economic-apocalypse-now-are-we-weeks-away-from-global-financial-meltdown/
Is the economy about to crash like never before? Was 2008’s Big Short just a dress rehearsal for an incoming apocalypse that will shred the stock market and rewrite the future of society?
More importantly, should we all be investing in GameStop?
Well, perhaps.
Andrea’s been going incredibly deep into this very confusing world and he’s back to fill the rest of us in. Jon’s not convinced the end is nigh, but there’s definitely something disturbing going on in the financial heart of our ‘civilisation’.
Whatever happens next, we need to arm ourselves with better information and think about the kind of society we’d want to build in the prospective ruins of the current world order.

How Do Open Relationships Work? - Sex & Relationships Series

Open relationships. We've all heard about them. But how do they work? Would one be right for you? And how can you even broach the subject with your partner? And then, if you get into one, do you need to set rules? Can they change? Do you need to ask for permission beforehand, or take video footage to share with your partner afterwards? It gets very complicated very quickly, and in this special ...
The Modern Stoic #33: What Is Free Speech? Seneca Takes Down Social Justice Warriors
Переглядів 3946 років тому
Why do flame wars happen? Why are so many people on the Left shutting down free speech through no-platforming? Do Social Justice Warriors even know what they're trying to do? How can we have conversations with people we don't like without it degenerating into an emotional bloodbath? This week, we try to answer all these questions and more as we dig into Letter 48 from Seneca (unexcitingly title...

The devil is in the detail... and that's the problem. This week is about not becoming obsessed with detail at the expense of actually doing or creating something yourself. Drawing on the horrifically-named Letter 45, 'On Sophistical Argumentation', we lay ...
The Problems Of Consent - Sex & Relationships Series
Переглядів 3526 років тому
Consent. We intuitively think it should be simple - ‘yes or no?’ - but the Me Too movement and the maelstrom of Hollywood abuse scandals show us just how naive that idea is. So we need to talk about it. This episode we explore what consent is, how it works, and when it all gets confusing, strange, and scary. This is a very challenging subject to get into, because many people have had profoundly...
Chasing Happiness (Away) | The Modern Stoic #31

Centuries before the arrival of social media and rolling news channels, people were still chasing happiness and still finding themselves miserable as a result. Seneca picks apart the issue, pre-empting 21st century psychological and sociological studies, and his words of wisdom have a lot to teach us about how to actually enjoy our lives. Lucilius has been whining to Seneca - he's unhappy in li...

This guy is a dangerous person. He justifies doing drugs, which means meth amphetamine. Now that is not a good drug for anybody. You can tell by the way he looks that he uses it. Nobody should believe the 'internalized homophobia' excuse. Many gay men lead very empty lives. They find no purpose. This guy has found a purpose. He goes around telling other gay people that they hate their homosexuality as an excuse to normalize drug use in the gay community. This guy should not be taken seriously!

From my understanding, there are some very ''beautiful'' gays on paper. They're beautiful, rack up tens of thousands in debt, and are the elitists. Unfortunatley, chemsex is incredibly common in threse groups. I don't think people are enticed into drugs because of the sex, it's the desire to be seen as elite. This supposed elitism and need to be in the cool club can often be the demise of many gay men, who fall into rich men's houses being plied with cocaine, wanting to be around fame to feel better than everyone else. The answer is straight up humility and not being so blind to hanging out with the 'pretty/rich/famous/popular' and simply being OK being ordinary. So many addicts need to be seen to be something special that they'll literally sell anything, including their dignity to do so.

Autism isn’t something that can be cured. It’s a different neurotype and it’s impossible to change that. They can help with some of the hardships that come with being autistic, but there’s not cure for it because again it’s not something to be cured

Autism cannot be cured. It’s not a mental illness. It’s only wrong to neurotypicals because it doesn’t match how they communicate. LSD DOES me deal with neurotypicals and escape their bullshit 😁. It makes neurotypicals tolerable and funny! 😂. If anything, it brought out my autism more (more sensitive to everything, but I also hallucinated and was happy). It just makes you feel good (basically the opposite of a world full of neurotypicals who bully you. 😎

Without wishing to denigrate the value of your thoughts, there’s something quite contradictory about insulting people saying they lack fortitude and distancing yourself from them which is both unnecessary and does us all no credit. I can relate as I do the same or at least have done the same I think. Very much you assume an agog listenership but in other podcasts you scorn people who scorn themselves who turn to people who scorn them more. Furthermore, elsewhere you advocate kindness and I think a key component of that is compassion. Perhaps it’s hard to be compassionate with an imagined other such as might be a member of your audience, yet you do by imagining someone that you’re judging. I think it would be more helpful to go one stage further and wonder to use your terminology “what would make a man lack fortitude; and what then can I wish him to be true and kind?”. The answer, by the way, could be compassion. There’s a danger in judging some people as at our level and others somehow undeserving or beyond us. I disagree with Seneca too, in this at least, and because everyone has their own relative aka personal authentic truth this isn’t to insult Seneca or you guys, but offer simply this counter example, albeit unasked for: By being present with someone, accepting them as equally valuable, on their own journey, not your responsibility to carry or to run from or to fear or put in a box with a label saying “ignorable”, which is ignorance, hold yourself on your own path of integrity, and really listen to that person; enter their world; be compassionate with them so that they see their value and what’s more they experience kindness. To do that and not stay on in their world but remember your way home then you can thank the person for the footprints left on your soul without pollution because this sort of presence isn’t costing you, isn’t offering judgement or losing your healthy boundaries, and yet it is helping because it provides what any living soul needs at their most basic: the feeling of not being a ghost but actually capable of being heard and being felt. Consider how desperate is the converse, when we erect walls, and you will perceive perhaps why a lot of your excellent comments will risk alienating and are assuming a belonging that some of us (including me) do not take for granted and which are at the root of a lot of disconnection, compulsion, addiction, poor boundaries, anxiety, despair, depression and all sorts of other things that “normal good” people may label mad or bad but which also give the possibility of glimpsing something transcendental, and truly believe in it, such as kindness.

Well it's haemorrhoids and a tight, easily torn anus/rectum that stop me enjoying being fucked and major depression/other mental disorders that stop me getting aroused enough to be on top, so maybe drugs would be the only feasible way for me to enjoy sex. From what guys say about their experience of it, as much as it can destroy lives, it sounds bloody amazing! Uninhibited, horny, feeling on top of the world. Who wouldn't want that in a world that does make us ashamed, and where there are pressures on us and maybe limiting health conditions?

Wow that was so damaging in a way it destroys relationships and is damaging to people that are really trying to make things work why don't they explain the risks I honesty trying to stay off drugs but its so hard when this is promoting it.it doesn't make sex better because your never gonna be satisfied with anyone no matter how manny people you have sex with your always gonna be chasing dock or ass and never experience the real happiness of actually being sober and having a stable relationship with a partner you love at the end of the day this is promoting drugs to kid cause kids don't know better. this is the people that are promoting the lgbtq community what a shame they there literally growing the next generation of gay kids that getting addicted and and being an addict is ok that sad I mean Chem sex is not to be glorified like this im a pig like the rest but I don't feel right to promote drugs to the public especially where this information can get to young gay kids that don't know the reall gay life and how much bullshit it promoting i can honestly say the community is not all happy and smile Its mostly shady catty and fake.they should be guiding people and what to look out for in the community cause honestly I couldn't tell you when I was 17 how manny older men tried to not guide but prey on me because they see a young kid thats looking for drugs not even sex but drugs and that how the lure the next generation grom them to use abuse and discard kids..and the stupidest thing is mentioned at the end that proves my point this is a grooming video cause who in there right mind would you say to talk about you vonurabilliies thats how the grooming starts once you know the victims vonnerabillities you can you them at your advantage to control your prey.wow this is really toxic but I give them props on how exclusive and luxurious they make addiction sound...and please I know there gonna be alotta people hitting me for being honest .I'm not saying I would treat people like if they did drug honestly i don't but just because there addicts doesn't mean the should be.promoting it to kids or guilt tripping the sober part of the community to accept chemsex as the new norm that has to be accepted amd not talked about as a problem love the people but dont like the drugs it honestly changes people for the worst sorry just my opinion i have chem sex from time to time not that but its ony when I relaps and go on a binge at the end of the day it is an addiction and it is a problem and it should treated like one not the people but the drug and also just cause you can now treat a disease doesn't mean it ok toget it in the first place people don't die of just having hiv any more not like it was before treatment but people do die of complications due to having hiv it does reduces years off your life and does make you susceptible vonuerable to other diseases and infection .so please if you don't have chem sex don't start it will be the momement that your gonna wish you never had done because from there on you will never your only gonna be thinking tha you need the drugg to have sex and once your hooked there nothing that will get in the way of you trying to get high not your morals not your family not any good thing that you had in your life will get you from wanting to take that hit I mean if you do it Vine teaches own but don't contaminate the new generation that's coming up cuz they're the ones that are hearing it no old people that already know about canceling campsites want to hear that this is for the new people obvious and vulnerabilities tell your vulnerabilities that's how you start the growing process it's a young thug their vulnerabilities because they're naive and they're gullible and use it to exploit them use it to get what you want from them and leave damaged goods and you move on to the next that is sick I would like to hear them come to Downtown LA and see what drugs and chemsex really does two people just because they're doing good and they don't look that they're bad off they look like they're well-off you no have money don't have to worry about where how where how or when they get their drugs seems like they have another disposal whatever they want it's not the same thing when we go to the real poverty cities where they do the same thing it's crazy people do crazy s*** 4410 just drugs that you're promoting through drug and have sex with anybody sounds like you might have a good time or yet course you can have a good time you're high but tell him the truth hey dude have sex and drugs use drugs and you might end up like somebody down at skid-row just letting you know FYI in the long run you might end up like somebody in Skid Row which is not pretty which I'm not talking bad but I'm pretty sure they a lot of them I know people from down there they would wish that they had never done it they had wish that they were they were well-off who who doesn't but s*** like this is what promotes people destroying their lives I'm using speak to text so so... but at the end of the day hey what do I know it's just an opinion from an addict and a user that's trying to quit

I have to say there are a lot of parallels between chemsex and the kind of drug use and associated problems (when they occur) of sex workers. I know that some feel that it cannot be compared to the GLBT community because you don’t choose “queer” identity. However, there are people who are raised in the game intergenerationally, people who start early as a response to poverty, and people who are trafficked. Many of us are subjected the whore stigma early, including criminal records from early adulthood which are punished (in my state) by being on a background check reject list with people with CSC and child or severe domestic battery convictions. Therefore, we can’t rent housing and are barred from working in human services, health care, education, or any work with youth, the disabled, or elderly for 15 years after last prostitution arrest. And these are very common feminine occupations, so this is, basically, banishment for female and many gay male and trans sex workers. I think many of the parallels with chemsex, for me, have to do with that stigma and resulting shame. I’m on the last leg of a Master’s Addiction Counseling program, hoping to work with people affected by such issues, and expect to cite this discussion in a presentation tomorrow. I’m very passionate about this work which is good, because it is the only area I know of where they can waive your criminal record and you can work with people again. Of course, those who have lived chemical use issues are in a unique position to do so.

drugs attract because they do a bypass on inhibitions, shame and judgements- "good or bad"- if we heal / overcome the stigma/judgements , i.e. do the 'shadow/integration work', we don't NEED DRUGS - ( they ain't sustainable anyway !!)

Throwing this out there for whoever comes across this video. Those people that introduce you to these hard drugs are NOT your “friends.” They are either looking to get something from you, or use you. Or both. Be adamant about saying no to this chem sex culture that is circling the gay community. We all deserve happiness and friends and community but that isn’t found through unhealthy drug use. Goodluck fellow gays.

We need to encourage men to go to therapy and address their issues especially if they intend to dabble in chemsex

As an Autistic person, it is so offensive to constantly hear neurotypicals talk about how we need to be cured. There is no cure for us because there is nothing wrong with us. We are different to you guys. You NEED to accept this and listen to us and modify YOUR beliefs to fit with ours. Otherwise, go away with this arrogance. This is not benevolent while you label us as 'less' and something to be fixed. Appalling ignorance.

I am not Neurotypical brother; I was offering my perspective on the concept as an autistic person with ADD. And my life experience is that WE have to accept that they will never truly accept and understand us so we can dig in our heels or use what make us different and yes even better in some ways to adapt and see be a child of both worlds. That is my own truth, you are free to have your own. Andrea

Why does everyone say this? It's like an ego autistics have but ignore the suffering of others. If it's not an issue why is it classified as a disorder? 🤔
