I am a keen designer and scratch builder from the UK who is happiest when in my workshop playing with RC Models, electronics, CAD, 3d printers and CNC machines. This channel records the things that come out of my home workshop.
Quadruped Robot Prototype - Maia - Video2
Maia is a prototype Quadruped walking machine.
I have much improved the smoothness of the body movement as it has to continually adjust it's C of G so it doesn't fall over. I have also worked out the code for turning and translating. Total build cost so far is less than £300 GBP. Built using an Arduino, Lynxmotion SSC32 and 16 cheap robot servos from e-bay. Further videos will be posted as improvements are made.

A build log of my recent "Matrix" Hexapod showing how the robot was constructed as well as the CAD design, electronics and maths.
Matrix - A unique Hexapod Robot running custom code
Переглядів 83 тис.8 років тому
Matrix is a unique Hexapod Robot that is based on Arduino and SSC32. It is controlled using an FRSKY Taranis / X8R Receiver. I would be prepared sell this for the right price. Make me a sensible offer! Construction is based on 3d printed parts, CNC'd black epoxy glass board and 6mm aluminium. The Arduino code has been written from scratch, with a bit of help and inspiration from Oscar Liang's g...
Super Strong DIY CNC Router - Build Log
Переглядів 261 тис.8 років тому
This machine is potentially for sale in the UK. Make me a sensible offer. Hardly used. Video build log of my DIY CNC router running on Hiwin linear rails, 1605 ball screws and driven by 4NM Nema 23's. This is a major upgrade to the Open-builds OX which I had previously and was a great little machine but not powerful enough for hardwood's or aluminium. Chinese 2.2KW Spindle from Solar Jean with ...

in dire need of some rubber feet
congratulations.Great project.
На ногах датчики нажатия?
Good project and all, but the noise the feet make makes me really uncomfortable
Where do u get these parts as u want
Nice work congratulations, Don't you want to share the source code with us :)
Which motors are you using?
i am trying to figure out the solution from last month but didn't found any useful.
That is awsome :) can YOU HELP ME. I have also build a quadrupt bot using MG995 tower pro servos.i made the codes and it started walking ,after some time the motors went to initial state (0 degree) don"t know why? I tried a number no time but the problem remains. Can you help me to solve the problem?
Very cool articulation. I see this with sensors to detect debris on the floor, two long legs in front that stay curled up above the "head" with pincers that will retrieve said debris and deposit it in a bin on the back and therefore replace the roomba with something way more cool.
I'm waiting for updates!
I'm amazed those are cheap servos running that thing.
sir pls give tutorial pls ... its a really amazing project
Hi Martin, first of all, sincere congrats for a great project ! Being also in the process of building a quadruped, I would like to get your feedback about the way you managed the COG. Apparently your walk gait is continuous (ie you lift a leg while the body is moved forward by the other 3 legs) and your robot is much more stable than mine. You can look at my first experiments here : goo.gl/DKQ7eH and goo.gl/j54AtX thanks in advance for your feedback, Philippe
Any updates or project website on this? Looks like a really promising, hope you did continue to work on it :)
Hey! Is there any way to get in contact with you to ask more questions about the build? I'm trying to build a quadruped similar to this and would like to try to get a little guidance from you since you look like a pro :o please let me know and hope to hear from you soon! The robot looks amazing btw 🤟
What are those spring dampers for? M unable to get it🙄
How are you powering up the servos? And how many servos are in this project?
Wonderful project! May i know how you make the robot leg? By 3D printing? I am now making a 4 legged robot, struggling what leg design should be used. :(
Hi, I think this is incredible especially considering the price range and size. Would you by any chance be releasing the code, CAD files, lists of parts and other things upon completing it?
What kind of battery do you use
Do you happen to know the weight and servo torque rating??
Its amazing, what is the various of servo that you using?
too small step
2 leg front is revers to make dog
Very nice! What servos are you using?
Hello Martin, I would like to inquire about purchasing your Hexapod creation. Matrix. Would you be interesting in selling a turn-key setup to me? I live in Los Angeles and wanted to inquire about having you build me one. You may email me at iLogics.pr@gmail.com Thank you ! Patrick
What software did you use to help with prototyping?
nice
Hi Martin, how's it going? Your work is wonderful. I'm from Brazil. I'm a simple electronics student and would like to one day be like you. I need to do a course completion job. The chance that you will help me and grant me is the code and actions of the robot units and also of all the components and electronic parts. Please Martin, I'm not going to market anything. Here in Brazil it is difficult to develop such projects. I've already asked several people, but it did not help me. Please grant me and grant me code and measurements and components and electronic parts. Thank you.
No news in 2 years? So sad...
Very nice, bet the wife loves that stomping round the house ;+}
Very nice work! please open source the code and CAD files :)
That's awesome! thanks for sharing the details. Liked and subbed
Are you going to open the design? Would be great if you put this on Github.
I don't get it why the 3 dislikes? This is just such an awsome project and a good video. Like+1 Sub+1
Haters gonna hate...
Must have been a luddite.
what type of battery do you use to move?
nice
hello, you could send me the code of arduino you used, not everything is enough for me only a few examples, I'm also studying the tutorials of Oscar Liang , but I'm a bit in trouble, an example would help me a lot. my e-mail matteo.giovagnini@gmail.com thank you
I really like the spring loaded feet!
WOW, this is some real nice looking stuff you made. Is it open source? I would like to make one later on for our social project we're working on. (www.machwas-makerspace.ch)
wow
Does the basic movement math differ much from a hexapod using only 12 servos? Or, to reword that question, if I have gotten a 12 servo hexapod working, would I be able to adapt my code to an 18 servo model such as this, and how difficult would it be to then implement some of the more advanced movement patterns such as body height adjusting and body tilting (pitch and roll, if you will)? Do you have any pointers regarding this? I apologize if this is a novice question.
This is totally awesome. Like seriously. I need to try this. Can you please send me the project and code so I can study and emulate it. Email here. Thank you so much I can't wait. This is super inspiring. sharkbite82@gmail.com
Nice work! Can you give more information e.g code
I want to build one. Can you guide me? I can pay you
this is getting SCARY !!
I want that robot . it is great ¡¡ congratulation
I love your robots, are you building any other? What do you consider, would be a minimum setup for a home lab? (CNC, 3D Printer, etc)
that's cool project, What kind of servos are these? the movement is smooth.
