26 Men was a syndicated American western television series about the Arizona Rangers, an elite group commissioned in 1901 by the legislature of the Arizona Territory and limited, for financial reasons, to twenty-six active members. Russell Hayden was the producer of the series and the co-composer of the theme song. The series aired between October 15th, 1957 and June 30th, 1959, for a total of 78 episodes.
Tristram Coffin, Kelo Henderson, Don Haggerty and William Fawcett starred in the premiere episode, entitled "The Recruit", in which Sam Miller, publisher of the Willcox Clarion in Willcox (spelled "Wilcox" in the series) in Cochise County. In the story line, Miller summons the Rangers, Fawcett and Henderson, for help. When the officers arrive, they find that Miller has been lynched and is hanging from a tree. Don Haggerty's character owns the biggest cattle ranch in the area and is the suspected ringleader of the trouble.

Clint Barkley (MacMurray) first sees Smoky as a runaway, and drives him back to the ranch where he meets the owner, Julie Richards (Anne Baxter). He is given a job on her ranch, but the head cowhand is doubtful about Clint and fears that since he refuses to talk about himself, he must have some dreadful secret in his past. Clint and Smoky become close to each other, weathering the hardships of ...
I love this old movie . A genuine classic . I watch it when I was a boy.
Hello Melinda S. I thought I saw all the horse movies of the 40s and 50s as a kid. Now I'm 70 plus and discovering so many classics on UA-cam. The youngest I have ever seen Beryl Ives and he had such a beautiful voice. I appreciate all the lovely comments from the viewers who their shared their memories of their dear parents watching this movie with them. ❤ 👍
I got this book from the library, and couldn't get into it, I find that it's a movie and wow what a movie. Why did he let him go free at the end though? He spent all that time looking for Smokey just to let him go again.
Excellent version of this movie
Parabéns pela postagem. Excelente. Quando era criança chorei muito vendo este filme e até hoje me emociono. Nota mil.
Nice touch having the song to the tune of "On Top of Old Smoky".
Assisti na minha infancia E sempre procuro pra ver
Assisti quando eu tinha 7 anos hj estou com mais de 40
my grandma is on her death bed and wont be here much longer. we just watched this movie and im thankful i got to spend time with her.
A gem of a movie.
I'm watching the 1966 movie smoky on my DVR right now.
I looked for this movie. I remembering loving it. But, this is only because we don't see it from the horse's perspective. Not really. 'When I saw him, in the open, as wild as his surroundings'. I knew I" had to take away his freedom, break him, submit him. Too sad after that.
It wasn't untill the last 15+ minutes that l remembered that l had seen this old movie once b4 awhile ago. What man will do 4 a $$ . This is the original version of this movie . There was a remake in 1966 . I have saved this one . Thx so much for the upload. Muchas Gracious Amigo Australia
The brother got his just deserts , xcellent result . Cant stand liers cheats & thieves . Sounds live our Governments & Pfizer
Excellent Movie . Just what the Dr ordered 4Me. Fred McMurray played in some gr8 western roles. The cheat in this film needs a good beating
I have seen the 60s version of this movie and prefer the original.
2021: Beware (Caballos-cheval), “Horses” cost as much as a New~ Baby to~clean and feed, but don’t worry, they don’t run away to college. They might win at the Kentucky-Derby or a local horse race !
Actors had good voices
Heroine is very lovely
The scene when they were reunited at the junkyard will always bring a tear yo my eye.
I love this movie. Anything with horses and real cowboys are the best. I wish the video wasn't blurry. I wish it was clearer. Thanks for letting us enjoy your video.
01:19:49 Really?
This is a wonderful old movie. I have and love the book by Will James. This was filmed at the same ranch as "My Friend Flicka" if anyone else noticed!
yes! I wonder if the ranch still exists??
I did notice!
A beautiful film thank you for sharing it❤️
Beautiful movie.
!!! This was one of my favorite books I stole from my dad.
This was the last movie I seen with my mother way back in 1946 when it first came out. Seeing it today brought back old memories of years ago when I was 11 years old.
I have read several Will James. This particular one was the first I ever read aloud to my children. Lone Cowboy: My Life Story was the latest and I also read them Sand and Dark Horse.
,,,, movie for the whole family, good little flick.
Duck Creek Utah were they flimed my friend flicka thunderhead son of flicka and green grass of wyoming
I watched this for the very first time today on the Western Channel on cable. I ventured over to You Tube hoping to see if it was here because I recorded it on my DVR, but the recording stop approximately sixty seconds before the ending. I know you might say that was the ending with MacMurray releasing him, but I just had to see Smoky through the gate. (Smile) I don't mind admitting being a male and still getting misty at the parade seen. A sad, beaten and worn four-legged animal whose suffered over the years much like a certain human close to my heart. Thank you so much Megalinda S!
I found a toy gun today from this movie.I found it metal detecting. The toy gun is from that movie.
I grew up watching Westerns, the Lone Ranger, on Saturday, the Rifleman, Wagon Train, Bonanza, Gunsmoke too many to name. For anyone who doesn't know your never to get on a horse on the right side, so when Smoky is dragging Clint on the right side that shows how bonded they were. If you love horses there's a man named Dennis Reis who shows how to train horses without breaking their spirit. Great videos.
I read the book, mentioned it to my mother and she recommended the 60’s film adaptation of Smoky that she enjoyed as a kid, but I gotta admit that I prefer this one over the other one. Way more man & horse moments here compared to the other and the horse looked genuinely possessive of Clint here.
I'm watching the 1966 smoky movie on my DVR right now.
I also read the book, but never got to see the movie all the way thru from the beginning. Always caught it about half way through on late nite TV. This is very close to the book.
They remade this movie 20 years later with Fess Parker and Hoyt Axton, just saw it on TV, same title and plot.
I wonder how many horses they killed trying to break them, rather than tame them.
😍thank you for posting🤗, been wanting to see this film again for years I remember sitting in the livingroom watching it with my dad when he was still with us this an my friend flicka😊thank you again xxx
1:26:28 - That is a different horse. Doesn't have the white star on his head, just a little speck of white.
I recognize Burl Ives by his voice but I have never seen him this young. He looks different.
As far as movies go .. its a one in a bilion .. way cool movie .. loved it
Fabulous Movie* thanks....
simply a truelly wonderful film
I like this movie the best. the one with fess Parker in is good also
My friend is in this! She’s the girl with the baton in the parade. This is a really good movie.
i have loved this movie ever since i was a little girl oh it is a special movie horse crazy thats natural for me you see i was born in 1954 and i just love a good horse movie debra jane lerner
in the book Smoky didn't get injured, a cowboy stayed on until the buzzer and his spirit was broken.
I like this 1946 film adaptation of Smoky almost but a little bit. The movie is shown on UA-cam Movies, but it's the one with Fess Parker instead of Fred MacMurray and I absolutely like it better than this and the first film adaptation in 1933 by Fox Film Corporation. In fact, what made me think of Smoky, was when I look up the 1966 movie and it was made by 20th Century Fox was based on Will James 1926's book Smoky The Cowhorse, what made me think of the 1966 movie, was UA-cam Movies have the movie on UA-cam but with Fess Parker and I like his take on Smoky better than Fred MacMurray's take on Smoky from 1946. This version may not or may be better than the ones with Victor Jory (1933) and Fess Parker (1966), who knows? But thanks for this version of Smoky anyway. You made my day, man. Way to go!
