      1. Martial arts. Martial arts. Martial arts. Forget about books. The atmosphere around martial arts is amazing for child development. Forget about the martial art itself, although I would pick something like boxing or jiu jitsu. What matters is the men and woman that kid will be around. The atmosphere of hard work, discipline, humility, and kindness. It will feel like a family after a while. Not only will the kid learn to defend themselves in school, but will also learn they don't have to fight either if they don't want to. Having a martial art makes you feel safe on your own without parents. Every kid should do martial arts. Every kid. 2. Kids wanting their mother at 4 years old is not uncommon, but don't let them do it. The kid is looking for safety and security, it's comfort. But allowing the kid to run to mommy to feel safe all the time is not correct. Put the kid in different situations where he is forced to socialize, and when he does something wrong, TALK to the kid about it and what they can do to improve, and have him do it again and again and again until he makes friends. The only thing that matters is if the kid gets practice and if you're there to encourage him to practice and learn to play. The only way it fails is if you're not there. Ask me how I know.

    • @MrRrrr698

Please force him to spend time with kids in his neighborhood ,in kindergarten school, with his cousins. Raise him to make friends. If you think his mother is being around him all the time let him break away from his mother's extra unnecessary infatuation with him. Remind him positively that friends and talking with kids his age is very necessary and important. I salute you that you're taking time to treat your kid unlike others in the comments section who knows kids like him but don't want to help them and on top of that berating them like bullies. And everything will be fine

Socrates practised death his whole life. He says that this is what a Philosopher does. Practices separating the soul from the body. The daemon thing is simply an analogy to him being of One Mind. Operating as a Oneness, a Whole whose parts are working in unity perfectly, which is Justice...To put it in a Taoist way this would be wu wei. Effortless Being.

A well detailed explanation of Socrates' Philosophy...but I think he failed to dive deep at what Socrates meant by in his(Dr. Peterson's) language "Damon"...that Damon voice was fundamentally of always, striving to do what's "JUST"... Well... we're not ready for that long conversation...cuz the way I see to further dissect that argument: that school of thought, that way of life, that belief....it inevitably lands at JESUS CHRIST...THE TRUTH...

I'm 22 and lately with lectures like this I've been getting some wild revelations on why I was an outcast my entire life. My parents haven't bothered to socialize me which puts everything into perspective. I also like how he says that you are always way behind other peers and always playing a catch up game. Life gets its meaning from strong relationships with other people, but what if you can't make those relationships at all due to falling extremely behind? Subjectively and objectively I honestly don't see my life as something that is worth living.

As much as our culture would have us think we are disposable & replaceable, we are not. Each individual human life has immeasurable value. You cannot tell your future. History proves that people cannot declare that because their life has gone such & such a way, that their future will follow in that same way. It is arrogant for you to make such a declaration. People failed you. That sucks. Now what? Look back only for the brief purpose of identifying something you may need to change. If you are grown, it is all up to you now. There is more information available at our fingertips than ever before. Forgive others. Forgive yourself if needed. Put cushions & helps in place for yourself in areas you are weakest. Go forward. Work hard. Rest well. When you fall (and you will fall) get up and move forward one foot in front of the other.

Typically most parents try their best for their children but you must understand they are also adults with other responsibilities. Also, they may not know what exactly a child need. Each child have their own personality too. There are many variables so it is impossible to get it 100% correct. For my own experience, as a child I live through poverty, my parents value education, as long as I am in school and not hungry, to them, things are fine. I never experienced hunger because of my parents sacrifices. They would be hungry before the kids. Yes, they did not socialize me because they were working hard to bring food to the table. Yes, my life would be more successful if I have the social skill in my early year. But overal, I am a college graduate with very stable job that pay well so I do not have to worry about the next meal. They did well overall as parents. Maybe look at all the things they did for you instead of 1 thing you think they did wrong. Try improving your social skill. You are still young and can learn.

Great comment. I actually find it really hard to watch this video as he is basically saying if they are not socially accepted at the age of 4, they are in trouble. Autism and other developmental delays are not conducive to this. I’m a fan of Peterson but like a lot of his theories they are based on best case scenario’s what about challenged children, there is no allowance given here for delays and this sort of message is dangerous to parents going through that journey as you basically beat yourself up for not being able to reach this unrealistic goal.

Wow. Just when I was "learning" from Peterson & appreciating him again ( somewhat ANGRY at him for becoming a mere drug addict for years while pretending he was not. Some of the "cutting edge" thinkers at least ADMIT to their brilliance having below average mortal coil). Peterson's apparent adulation of Socrates goes against almost EVERYTHING he preaches. I have had limited "exposure" to Socrates. 1) In elementary school he was put forth as a "great thinker" of such great integrity that he willingly drank poisen - perhaps to expose the "evils" of the State? And what kind of State was Greece at that time? It was a State of Debauchery and not much is ever said about it's demise. Just the supposedly great ideas espoused by drunkards to justify their drunkenous remain. A morsel sweet on the lips but sour in the stomach. 2). I was EXCEPTIONALLY BLESSED by 2 wonderful loving parents who complimented each other. My Father, a Mechanical Engineer, my Mother - a very intelligent woman and taken by religion - his biggest fan. As a CHILD in my Parents home there was zero chance of putting my parents against each other. My Mother was exceedingly quiet and I was shocked to learn as an indulged teenager of the 70$ that she did not believe in "equal pay for equal work" As she took the "Biblical view" that the Man was the HEAD of the household. Therefore the man should earn more as it was his duty, responsibility (and great salve to the ego) to SUPPORT and PROTECT the family. I can think of no other reasons to accept a "patriarch" , unless you just admire bullies. While I was off being a "free bird" I never spoke to Mom -;let alone Dad ( he gladly left philosophical issues to Mom) about Socrates. I can think of very very few times I EVER saw my mother angry. The name of Socrates may have been one of the first. To suggest he was in anyway good seemed to be a sacrilegious belief. She stated what she needed to state in about 2 short statements:. Basically that he was a POS that abandoned his family and was a drunkard sitting on a rock. Pretty much all true. I will have to look at socratess "quotes" As of now my Mom's opinion rules the day. She was smart, kind and slow to anger. DOCTOR PETERSON needs to the cute quote _physician heal thyself. The Greek Baths were notorious for prostitution under disguise of art. Don't think Athens fell because of military attacks of Sparta - but because of their own sensual inertia. Is it not so ? As long as we live in a patriarchy women needing to be "smart" will rule the rooster and not always need credit. Like their male counterparts they desire and attain POWER while disdainful of those who portray only the image of it. The Greek Baths were also dens of homosexuality and pedophilia. I cannot help but hear the modern ridiculous statement "it's all good" To which I reply "no it's not" What an absurdity that Dr Peterson sees much in Christendom : including authority granted him by shriveled gonads. He calls young males to speak and regain their power without shame. This is good in our crackpot world of western eunuchs. But how ODD. In endorsing Socrates Peterson endorses Homosexuality which St Paul CLEARLY spoke against. And not a word spoken about pedophile culture in both Greek Bathhouses or in the Popes Quarters. 🤔 Frankly I think Lesbian Culture is more often than not just a reaction to convoluted Patriarchal culture. At least - as a woman - I have no sexual DESIRE for another woman. So male testosterone levels are dropping. Perhaps this is a good thing? I have great respect for Dr Peterson (and more than sufficient anger). All Socrates did is take the easy way out . He really had little - if anything - to offer the world (he did not care for his children in ANY way and his only hope of ever being anyone was to pretend he was a martyr. Poor Socrates. Give me a break. My Mom was right and Peterson proves he is not True to his Views. A Father is to be Loved. And is only granted that authority due to his own love and PROVIDES at least a bowl of porridge for his children. What did Socrates ever say someone else could not have said better?. When I was mid age I had much compassion and desire to "save" the drug addicted. Within a few years I wanted to comfort their families and let the addicts go. . Socrates & addicts make their own decisions every day. Suicide or "death by cop" is almost always a SELFISH one..Do not be deceived. Dr Peterson is not being consistent and to my knowledge has not been questioned on this by one who is. I admit to both drinking and being a woman this morning. Dr Peterson is probably a good man - who like many others is completely hypocritical.

Disease Was man made and now it has evolved. They used it to wipe out half the native population then they killed 55,000 Buffalo to starve the rest. So the thing that I see wrong is letting politicians and leaders make bad decisions that we as people could have altered. We are feared by the world leaders and governments because of the power we have together. Our numbers speak volumes.. We need to learn to stand together to rid the world of the evil one

That's just not materialism and certainly not dialectical materialism. I was going to try and formulate an answer but there's nothing to answer here, the man just used a completely different defition of "materialism" than it is used in philosophy and Marxism.

A little disappointed is Peterson, he got some things wrong and had a very simplistic analysis of the reasoning behind why Socrates did not flee the state. Still love Jordan though

A lot like computers! He even said the cybernetic model is built on the way humans function, and that's everything from bicycles to GPS and missile guidance systems. I'm a computer programmer and can promise you most of life is coding
