Custom Chemo Caps Hats Support Her Fight Against Leukemia
My daughter was recently diagnosed with Leukemia and to help pass time, one of her hobbies is making hats. Now that she has made a few, she is wanting to see if anyone is interested in purchasing them - so she can continue her hobby and raise funds.
If you are interested in purchasing a hat, please follow the link below.

She has small supply of existing hats, but can make more. If you are interested in a custom hat with specific colors, just ask.
Because she is doing treatments and doesn't always feel well, she asks that you are patient with how long it may take to create the hat. If she feels well, one hat takes her around 6-8 hours to make.
Thank you for your interest and support!

Outback Inverter DIY UPS Emergency Power Backup Battery Build
At @1:10 the USB port. The shroud around it comes off and you flip it around to make it look nice like the online pictures. I bought the same thing and i was thinking they sent me the wrong items. If you don’t use the surround, then you can just make. Hole the size of the usb face and flush mount it.
Mine does the overshoot and then comes back down. Once it’s at set point it’s solid. Got 28 cooks in 1 year so far. 😊
This is exactly what I want to build for camping What size fuses did you use
Thanks for the thorough testing! Any idea where else to get that NSKE… the Amazon link says unavailable
Prayers
Just bought a hat in my sons college school colors, can't wait to see it.
That’s one smart and tough young lady.
Do you have a video on how you made this from scratch like step by step?
Not yet - I plan to do that on my 2.0 version, still determining the build
hows the over heating of the mppt and battery with charging?
It seemed ok but well below the ratings
That smoker is way to clean 😂🤣
Ha
Do you still have your bus? I'm curious, a year later, if the soft starts are still working good? I have the micro-air soft starts on my house but would like to get these for my toy hauler.
I do not, I sold it last years. I would like to know as well!
Wow nice build sir.
Thanks!
Use SSR100A,100A relay and LVD to protect battery from low voltage and also blocking diode for anti backflow
Thanks for the ideas!
Mine does the same thing - overshoots by 50-75 degrees! Which is kind of scary. It also does that when you open it up and when it's trying to reach back to the set temperature...
I’ve found letting it overshoot by 50 or so, then open lid until just under set temp, close hood - I’m good. A lot quicker than letting it run over and then try to come Back to set temp on its own.
@Hunleygarage it overshoots temp when you first turn it in so it can heat up the cold metal and racks. Once the grill reaches ambient temp then it stabilizes.👍🏾
1:01 best real world statement ever. 👍🏼
Thanks!
First of all thanks for posting these videos. I recently built a battery box after watching your first video. I probably watched almost every video on youtube and decided to emulate yours. I just added a 50 amp Anderson plug to be used for charging and for my inverter. I only plan on using a 500 watt inverter. From what I've read it should be fine. Not an electrician though so we'll see what happens. I did fit a 12v fuse block and fused everything in mine. I definitely could use a bus bar but there isn't much room left. I was thinking about upgrading to the 4800 box so I can fit an inverter and bus bars inside the box as well. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.
Thank you, Glad it inspired you. I’ll see what I can come up with.
Interesting project. I have done DiY for DC power for a portable ham radio kit. The radios and accessories all run off of 12 volts so that was my baseline. I couldn’t use higher voltage and then step it down due to the radio noise with Dc to Dc conversion. For portable AC power I am interested in retail units such as Anker, Eco Flow, or Bluetti. It would seem your box is nice size if you stick with just DC. But you have to determine the need/requirements for you. Good video and look forward to more. Just subscribed. All the best.
Thank you!
I've been thinking along the lines of paultech9385. One box with smaller battery and some DC outlets (USB, cigarette, etc) and all the other equipment (solar converter, fuses, etc) with the equipment sized for a larger system. Maybe a small 100-150W inverter for powering/charging a few things. Connections on the small box to hook up a larger box with bigger battery(ies) and large inverter. Most of my needs for emergency power can be handled by the small box which is lighter and more portable. Then I can add the large box (12v, 200aH) as necessary. You are going to need a lot of juice to run a big inverter for any length of time. I'm still tying to figure out how all the connections would need to work.
I like this approach - maybe the bigger box has another battery too….
Too late for a 24V system? Add a cut off for the inverter to stop battery drain. Battery in one box and maybe the inverter and other electronics in 2nd box that stacks.
Thanks for the thoughts! Two boxes is an interesting idea! Not sure if I can get 2 batteries in for 24v but would really up the capacity
Yes, an inverter is a must. But before you know what size inverter, you need to know the size of your battery. A 50%ish battery to inverter ratio is what power stations seem to use.
Thanks for the comment!
Good rule of thumb keeps disharge at around .5c
Watch the you tube videos ,,,virtue coffee
Sometimes you won’t hear the crack Total time should be 9-11 minutes
Crazy how it’s so faint sometimes.
In the video you baked the coffee, you need to start at a higher temp setting, fan 7 temp 5, At 360 you will be at yellow stage,,Turn fan down to 6 and heat to 6: at 400-410 first crack will hit,,hold at 1- 1,5 min,,,15% development ,,,then cool down
I’ll give it a try thanks.
How’s the roasting going these days ?
I stopped for a bit. It got really hot and humid. I think I’m going to get back to it soon.
What would you charge to build and sell one of these and ship it
If I can get enough time, I am going to do a build 2.0 - and document everything. Use bus bars, fuses, etc and keep track of costs etc. I think I may change the shunt - not sure if it's a battery bms or shunt - but the box is in like a paused mode until I hook to a charger. I want to get that figured out as well. I was also provided a 24v inverter, I want to mess with mixing different batteries and see what happens.... Stay tuned!
You forgot the AC outlets 🤷♂️
Not enough room for an inverter big enough to power anything
I use the MicroAir on my home heat pumps as we have a backup generator. They use Bluetooth for monitoring. Nice feature.
Microair is the Mercedes for sure
Question about charging through the Anderson plug. Is the Anderson plugged directly to the terminals or to the shunt??
I put everything through the shunt so it can track all the in and out. I recently used the box and had no power until I tried charging and it came back. Not sure if that was the battery or shunt. Will try to do a follow up video. Also getting another small battery - will try to do a 2.0 version of the build with details. The first one was to really see if it would all fit and work.
I bought a $50 knockoff and installed it and it seems to be working. Im waiting on my inrush meter to cone in to get quantitative results on inrush amperage. Also going to try to run with my Westinghouse iGen2500 generator, which is the main goal.
Did it work?
@@Hunleygarage yes!
I've had a Dr Pepare battery for 2 years. I've had to replace it 2 times. First time was not bad the second time well I'm on email 8 with them. I'm not thinking they will be sending me a new one. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Thanks for the comment then. I still have mine and it’s working great. Wonder if it was the BMS or cells or ??
Why isnt there any installation instructions????? One wire goes to herm here, another one goes to ptrc and third goes wherever????? I dont understand why people make videos where they have to do something ANYWAY. just take second and tell us as you do it. I absolutely HATE videos that dont walk us through installation that they are doing ANYWAY!!!
in all fairness this was not a how to wire up video. that does take time and editing to build out a nice clear wireup instruction video. also the wireup depends on the A/C you have. they do go to the same componets mostly, but wire color and location can vary so this video would be longer to watch, harder to produce, and only be super relavant for those with the same systems. i got what i needed out of it which was the clarity in how much range there can be in the softstart devices. it never really crossed my mind that some could perform so differently as i figured they all worked within a similar range and it came down the build quality, warrenty, form factor. but a 5 amp spread was unexpected. I never tested the before and after on my install, i know it made a difference as it allows my 2k watt inverter to run our GE a/c without tripping it out..but does it perform as well as his is the question. also my wiring was alot different so this video would have been completely useless to me for the softstart i have on mine.
@bretmohler9719 I don't understand WHY it would be as a retired special forces soldier who has trained thousands. If im going to do something, I'm going to say I used a 10mm socket here or a wire here. To me, if I did something ANYWAY, if I don't want to edit, I could list stuff at the end on a whiteboard. Maybe it's the teacher type in me. Now, if I was NOT going to do it ANYWAY, then I wouldn't go out of my way to say it or show it.
@@Michaelthearcheangel well as a retired special forces soldier you are acting like a pretty entitled child about this. How about doing your own video on the install. There are other videos out there and this guy didn't claim this was an install video, just a comparison. The manufacturer provides the instructions and I found those to be adequate when I did the same thing the other month. There are instructional videos, and informational videos. This is informational, moving on.
To be honest I spent days trying to figure it out for my units, trying to understand what did what, etc then how this was to wire up. Each is so different and really depends on how your unit is wired. I didn’t want to do a how to - because I don’t want any liability - there are just to many scenarios. I thought it best to do a comparison between brands because I couldn’t figure which one to get. Figure if someone is willing to go on their roof and install one of these, they can figure out how to wire it too, id just get a few and see which one did better.
Thanks! Glad it worked for you!
Hot?
Not sure I understand
HOW MUCH FOR. CASE?

FANTASTIC products, VERY EXPENSIVE!!!
Can we use this charger in Europe with 240volt?
I would imagine you could get an adapter but no idea….
I have the same Dr. Prepare battery. It is in the cap of my pickup truck. It is powering my Setpower PT55 refrigerator/freezer. I have three 110 watt flexible solar panels on the roof of my cap on my truck and one 100 watt CIGS solar panel on the roof of the truck itself. Last year I ran it for 185 straight days powered by my Dr. Prepare battery. I am doing the same this year. I added panels this year and now I am always fully charged. I love the mods you did on your battery. I wish I had an Anderson plug built in.
Wow- sounds awesome! Glad it worked for you. I just posted a 2.0 pre build - let me know your thoughts on what to do

You do know those ACs require the cover to be on to operate without overloading, right? Without the cover, there is little airflow over the condenser coil. I wonder how much life you removed from them running them for too long without the cover? Also, unless you use the exact same AC for every unit, you're creating invalid results. They might be the same models, but they all surely have different startup profiles depending on how many hours they have on them. Hyperbole humidity too - 95 degrees and 90% humidity is impossible. That would put the dew point at almost 92 degrees; almost 10 degrees higher than the highest dew point ever recorded in the US, and more than 20 degrees more than a typical summer day in the most humid parts of the country. Apparently you just like to hear yourself talk.
Thanks for your nice comment. I am EPA 608 certified so yes I do know - about 0.0 life removed for the 3 minutes they ran making sure the starter worked correctly. Even if I did run the unit without the cover I wonder how the fan motor life would be reduced or even the compressor motor? I was also testing startup amps from the compressor draw. Yes they will all vary but very little. Do you always leave flattering comments on videos? I loved yours.
I’m also have my certification 608 and 609. 😂 he’s just test starting the compressors. Why do you act like a know it all?
@@Bigdaddyweldzthank you!
And on a side note, 95 degrees and 90% humidity is the normal for Houston summer days, anyone from Houston can attest to this.
Looks good. Need some ventilation and fuses. Had many batteries go thermal runaway when overheated. Nicads and SLABS
Agree - I put some little fans in it. Is the lifepo4 chemistry subject to run away?
@@Hunleygarage I’ve been told that while LifePO4 batteries are among the safest of battery chemistry’s, they can occasionally experience thermal run away if the BMS fails or if a cells are punctured. During normal operating conditions off gassing in aLifePO4 is minimal, but a during thermal runaway event LiFeP04’s produce gases that are highly flammable. If they’re allowed to build up, like in a sealed container they can cause an explosion.
@@riariaria I am not sure I have ever seen or heard of a LFP in a TR event or even off gassing unless you drill through the cells or place in a fire above 500f.
@@Hunleygarage If you search “The thermal runaway analysis on LiFePO4 electrical energy storage packs with different venting areas and void volumes” you will find a scientific paper published on Science Direct that explains the phenomena.
Bet they love that you didnt get their name correct once in the whole video lol
Not even once? Lol
Did you figure it out?
Kinda - I need to do a follow up. Tore it apart to install sensors and auto controls

Thanks
You you have used buffing compund. Without it can potentially burn the paint or rip it off. I just messed mine up and will be doing the same this weekend
Thank you. Good luck!
It's crazy to see this and realize just how much power density they shove into our Teslas. I have a 23 Model S Plaid and was considering carrying a massive LiPo battery in the lower trunk area as an "in case of emergency, break glass" box that would get me to the next charging location if I ran out of juice, but for maybe 7-8 miles of extended range, it doesn't seem practical at all.
Agree on power density they make in the car. Pending you watt/mile - the 2,560 watts could get you 12 miles at 200w/mile. Still not very far, and would take 2 hours to charge. If you could get 30 - that would be worth the trouble. After driving all over, guess I’m not really concerned anymore with knowing the limitations and with chargers being everywhere. If I was going somewhere remote, might want to toss something in though
