Some extra tombstone stairwell tech: it’s an enchant world, there can only be one on the field at a time due to the “world rule”. When it comes down it blows up other world enchantments like concordant crossroads. It is also huge in Kambal, profiteering mayor, where you make copies of everyone’s extra zombies, and don’t have to sacrifice them.

A pet card that I always run if I can and always overperforms and makes people say "wait what?" Is Righteous War. Evasion? Check. Protection from removal from the two best removal colours in the game? Check. Dope Ian Miller golden-age-of-fantasy-art Art? Check.

Supreme Inquisitor is worth a mention if you're going heavy on wizards. Docent of Perfection is an excellent way to make wizards.

Glad I found your channel. These cards are in fact bangers. Tombstone Stairwell is good in my old Grimgrin deck, but it would be really good in the new Kambal deck

I have an obscure one for you too and it's my favorite card in magic and it's all or nothing: Hellcarver Demon On the surface, it looks bad or would only be viable for decks that you give something away to an opponent and the goad, but it's in my Rakdos big demons and scary spells deck that is mostly battle cruiser cards and it has won me the game out of nowhere in incredible fashion. People will think that you have to get rid of all of your things and not think anything of it and then you cast an eldrazi, breach the multiverse, curse of the cabal, sheoldred the apocalypse and a peer into the abyss and take over the game. The issue with a Fortifications is you want it to have slme reason to move around lands, otherwise its better off as an Aura. Labds dont die that often so that takes away the easiest way for you to wsnt to re attach it. Without s good resson for reattaching, they sre just bad land auras because you need to pay for them twice. Making the lands creatures is one solution since creatures die often , but i would make those creatues not good at blocking so you dont have a revivable board staller.

we should make a set of magic cards inscribed onto brc20 tokens sat on satoshis they would be unique and we could add them to the block chain while avoiding wizards coming after us saying we took their property to do it and hopefully spark someone at wizards to take every magic card and add them to a block chain

they could also go the design route of reconfigure and add a new key word like "Inhabit" theres so much you could do in this design space its crazy that they have decided to not play around with this more its basically equipment for lands. in the same vein they could also add land version of bestow so that it completes this little triage of things.

These are great. What do you do with lands? Tap them for mana, tap them for other effects, and turn them into creatures. We have auras that modify the mana lands put out, why not fort.s? Same for giving lands some extra effect that they could use when you're flooded on mana. Fortifications beat auras here because you could hypothetically tap the fortified land, move it, and then tap the second land. Something you didn't hit in your video that I think could be good would be like vehicles/ reconfigure creatures: "as long as fortified land is a creature, it gets X, otherwise do Y when it's tapped for mana".

I think we’ll see this again, reinvented.

Make a fortification that gives a land {T}: return target legendary creature to its owner hand. Make it pretty expensive to fortify as well.

I made a deck with The Fourth Doctor and Ace, Fearless Rebel as the commanders. I put C.A.M.P. in the deck cuz it seemed fun. Fortify is a rare mechanic, Junk is a rare mechanic, and the deck likes Artifact tokens, historic spells, and +1/+1 counters. C.A.M.P. is overcosted. Plain and simple. It does a lot, but it takes 6 mana to get online, and at least seven if you want to use it the same turn you play it. However, it’s been a lot of fun. If I do have the mana to use it, it comes in very handy for the rest of the game. Nobody’s gonna burn a targeted removal on it, but it garners incremental value constantly. Most players don’t even know what Fortify does and have to do a double take when I drop it out. I’m sure there are better things I could put in its slot in the deck, but I will never cut it. Ever.

Here is my take on what I think could be a really cool evergreen mechanic. How does moving fortifications make any sense? Why not just make it enter attached to a land you control, forget the "equip" cost and the ability to move huge stone walls quickly between your plains and islands. Effectively, they should be artifact "enchant lands". With all the artifact removal, its not a big deal and instead of destroying any lands, you just destroy the artifact attached to it, which ignores the land destruction issue. You could also explore different colors of artifacts (like the eldraine equipments, etc.) to give cool fortify effects to your lands based on the color pie. EX: (Balance not really considered too much) Archers Tower (2W) Artifact - Fortification Archers Tower enters attached to a land you control. Fortified land has "(TAP): deal 1 damage to target creature attacking you." Gold Mine (2R) Artifact - Fortification Gold Mine enters attached to a Mountain you control. Whenever fortified land is tapped, create a treasure token. This ability triggers only once each turn. Wizards Tower (4U) Artifact - Fortification Wizards Tower enters attached to a land you control. Fortified land has "(UUU, TAP): Copy target spell you control. You may choose new targets for the copy. Activate this ability only once each turn."

Seacoast Arches doesn't stop you from tapping the land for mana in the same turn despite how it reads. You can always respond to the trigger. I think you need a different clause, like "Seacoast Arches can only attach to tapped lands", which doesn't prevent you from using said land to pay for the fortify cost (You can just tap it and float the mana first), but at least stops the intended shenanigans.

We already have auras that attach to lands and do pretty great things. I have one in my elf deck that turns a basic forest into a land that taps for all the elves I control. Basically a Gaea's Cradle in my deck, which I could never buy. In other words, WotC is giving some lame excuses and there really is a case to make fortifications. I would love to see that. I suspected you might pull in Tolarian Academy, but that one should maybe never see the light of day again, lol. If there's enough hoops, it might be fine, but because lands can all be artifacts, it's much more powerful than the cradle because a single board wipe won't nerf the academy like fortification. It does illustrate the interesting design space, but I hope they don't go to that extreme.

These are the moments where it becomes clear that MaRo is out of ideas, has been for a while.

If Battles ever come back, heck, it feels like at least for limited a fortification could add counters to a battle as a side-effect. I know, it's not much, but it's a flavor win.

Wow, I honestly didn't even know this mechanic existed and totally agree with the video. It seems very cool and you could have all kinds of land effects happen. They could even be more powerful too since they're so easy to destroy. Artifact gotta be the 2nd easiest thing to destroy after creature. Could have different cool flavors too like reshaping the land (green) to reinforcing it to harden it against dragons (red or white) to enchanting it and warding it against intruders or something (blue or black)

Maybe they should provide the effect (like the instant sorcery copying) to mana made by the land, instead of giving it an extra mana ability? This would open up new pathways, as it would synergize with lands that tap for 2, and even more with (the normally unplayable) storage lands

You ask "What if instead of giving it +1/+1 until end of turn...", when the abilty actually puts a +1/+1/ counter on target creature.
