I (Deepak Tomar) am a gents lifestyle and luxury expert. My background is in Investment Banking. I have worked with the likes of Lehman Brothers, NOMURA, and Technology Holdings in the past. All the while, I developed a deep interest in Watches, Gents' style, and Luxury.
I share my thoughts on Luxury Brands, Businesses, M&A transactions in luxury, my opinions on watch brands, and overall style for men. I believe that Men always live to provide for others. They seldom look after themselves. There is always a need to do better and the best for the family. That goal completely overtakes the being of a 'Man'. My goal is to encourage a fellow 'Man' to indulge once in a while and go for what you want - buy that watch you have always wanted, Get that Rolex, and Buy the Car you have been eyeing for some time.
Been thinking about going to get a college reunion, go for it, life is ephemeral, and there are no guarantees. Live for yourself while you still have time.

5 exceptional watches that make up my dream list
Watch lovers are emotional fools. They buy one, tell their better halves they won't buy in the near future, at times making false promises like: " not buying anything until the next 2 years"; or, even worse - "This is the last one, trust me". I am sure some of you can relate with what I am saying here.
But, the reality is that the list of watches we want to own is endless. As exposure goes up, as our financial situations gets better, our aspirations soar. Let the aspirations fuel your labour, your agency, make sure you are wealthier, and acquire your dream watches, your dream cars.

This video is about 5 themes that will dominate board room discussions, mind-share and wallet shares of Luxury brands and conglomerates. Life is not so simple across businesses. Cyclical downturns are normal in business cycles. Some downturns are self inflicted as I can see it. The current downturn in Luxury is partly self-inflicted - indiscriminate price hikes, disconnect with the heritage, an...

ROGER DUBUIS, BETTER THAN PATEK PHILIPPE?
Переглядів 60614 днів тому
Dear listeners, let me answer the questions right away, Roger Dubuis is not necessarily better than Patek Philippe, but it is definitely by a person who is credited with developing some of the most complicated movements at PAtek Philippe during his time at the watch manufacture. Roger Dubuis comes from the era where he lived with the legends of watchmaking - Gerald Genta, George Daniels, Jean C...
The Brand of the Uber Rich - Goyard

Did you know about Goyard? It is a leather goods manufacturer from Paris. Europe has long been the cradle of luxury goods. The only other country that matches Europe in producing Luxury of the highest quality and significance is Japan. More on Japanese luxury some other time, but right now it is GOYARD. Did you know that those who have already accessed LV, Bottega Venetta, Gucci, go for Goyard ...

5 important things to know about Shoes

Men in India have always aligned themselves to wearing only a few brands. Irrespective of their stature - One of my previous bosses, who would make at least 5-6 Crores INR annually would wear brands that are not known to us. I do not mean known to us because those brands are too exclusive - but because those brands are lost in ignominy for they are nothing substantial. At different junctures in...

Very interesting selection, widened by knowledge of watches
Indeed!
Very uneven audio of a very interesting interview
Patek phillipe is hype roger dubuis have good fit and finish
It's Rodger Dubwah. Not duboowee. 😂
That’s for correcting. For me it is Dubuis. Did you get the message though. Comment on the content 😊
nice studio setup bro
He is already Billionaire and no need to sell his brand.....
He became a billionaire after selling the company actually
@@detospeaksluxury Hi Deepak, I disagree ,,,, if you are having a successful company with storngest brand in the world... and you are selling millions of dollars every day .... would you sell it ?
@@عبدالله-د7ق3ظ sir/mam, let us agree to disagree. Who knows he was a billionaire already, may be he was before the deal. But I agree with you that TOM FORD as a brand packs a powerful punch
Only difference is brunello is family owned like Zenga loro is part of l m v h group
don't mix languages
She ruined tom Ford fragrances for good.
Great video!
Love BRIONI and the rest but so expensive, thanks 👍🏴❤️
Goyard is not superior to LV buddy. It maybe more exclusive due to the limited number of stores globally, but as a brand / product LV is more expensive no matter what category of luxury goods you take into consideration.
Hermes at top when it comes to leather craftmenship and quality
Gotta disagree with you on this one Deepak. The price they command for a Canvas bag is obnoxious, they’re known to have poor quality paint, the work is undoubtedly top tier but the materials are a let down. Especially for the price they command. There are better alternatives out there, Goyard for me is mostly just Brand history and nothing else.
Hi Karan, Thanks for your feedback. Dior Canvas totes are going at crazy prices as well. I think we need to dissociate price for some time and look at the offer in its entirety - Product Build Quality (construction + materials) + Aesthetics (Design + style) + Brand + Exclusivity. GOYARD tends to satisfy most of these minus the Quality of Materials as per your input. I will not contest it. In the same breath, many other brands like LV, Gucci, Prada, Dior have received flak for using sub standard material looking at the RRP of the end products. The other point I will mention is, and will also draw a parallel from the world of watches: GOYARD is not going to be the first TOTE or a hand bag for a woman, if a Parisian, perhaps yes, but highly unlikely if a foreigner. They tend to gravitate towards the better know brands. Parallel with the Watch Industry (On quality) - Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak is the big money spinner for them - sells at a neck breaking price. But if you see, there are many better alternatives in sports watches, or at least equally good - which can be bought for far less Case in point - Rolex Sub, Vacheron Constantin Overseas, Breguet Marine and Breguet Type XXII. The Brand and the Hype machine is something desirable for other brands. Another case in point is Cartier, I love Santos, but some of the steel santos don an outsourced movement, selling at 10 lac INR. But the brand still commands great respect and woos people like crazy. I am a fan of Cartier (disclaimer). Thanks for initiating this discussion. I hope my content adds value to people, I hope we are better aware of brands, and I hope we beget great global brands from India too. Regards
Great video Deepak! You shouldve spoken about the 15-25k range, you missed Akila, Chimi, Moscot(little over 25k), TBD Eyewear, Tom Ford etc I know hard to cover everything, maybe next video?
@@karnavora3961 I will cover those in another video - the space is huge. Thanks for the input
Keep up the good work Deepak, sound needs work though In my personal experience Aldo and Dune both have very poor construction quality and are not worth the money at all. Clarks are still worth the money but lack in the “looks” department. I feel like a good mix of quality and style is Massimo Dutti, their shoes have a great balance of both.
@@karnavora3961 true, Massimo is good quality. I have experienced the same. Options are a bit limited though, can be boring at times. Spanish, Italian, Indian and Japanese names are good options

Someone once said to me, "God made only a few perfect skulls. For the less than perfect skulls, they had to be covered in hair!"
Kya baat hai Himanshu, 😊😅
Interesting & relevant topic.. 👍🏻 From a woman’s perspective, Bald/Not Bald is not even a matter of consideration. What really matters are some of the anchors you guys spoke about - mind, fitness, spirit, wit, mannerisms, humility, etiquette’s etc Tbh, you guys have double advantage- 1. You have no worries of hair falling, styling, washing, streaking 2. & there is absolutely no way that someone can pull your hair out when upset 😜
I am not bald (Yet) but after watching this podcast, I wanna shave my head!
Hey, appreciate your thought. We want to make balding cool - actually it is already. Let us normalise it!
@@detospeaksluxury Balding is natural/normal and completely accepted in the society by adults. I haven't met a single woman over 30 who has rejected men because they were bald. In the end, it is the confidence that counts, nothing else. Period.
My message to those who’re balding: All of us who’re balding have gone through the hurt. Once you shave it off, you can rediscover yourself, even if you’re not fit and beautiful. Anyway, you can always grow your hair back if you don’t like it.
Well said Sriram
The world of watches is quite fascinating. Thanks for the wonderful trip.

Thanks for the feedback. Will see what can be done about it
Great content - loved the Tom Ford Estee Lauder cosmetic collection in 2005.
Did LVMH buy a stake in Hodinkee?
MAhir, they haven't. BUt Hodinkee is a very high quality asset. Not just a media company anymore. A retailer of pre-owned and new releases alike. Watch out this space for more - Hodinkee will surely announce something (new strategic investment) i nthe next 12 months
I think there is a higher chance of getting a panda daytona at retail than Rolex ever being sold by the Hans Wilsdorf foundation 😂.
I know, tought - owned by a Trust. never goig to happen
Hey Deepak can you tell me a maison/brand that LVMH would/could potentially buy in India? What would be some great acquisition targets?
Mahir, LVMH is always kene to acquire. India hasn't created any global brands so far. It has been a supplier of all the hig quality work to Dior, Chanel, Eli Saab and other biggies of the world. But there is a shift happening. Please read about 100 hands, Arguably the best shirts brand in the world - made in Ludhiana/Jalandhar, Punjab. The brand Identitiy is Dutch, but the brand is owned by an Indian. Most of Indian couture has revolved around Bridal wear so far. Marrage is a huge market, but there are early signs of de-coupling from the Marriage market. In hard Luxury, Read about Bangalore Watch Company, they are making watches with Swiss movements. High quality stuff. I think LVMH will side with Reliance Brands (the larrgest Luuxury retailer) and launch some of their brands here. India is a 30 year Luxury story from here on. Money is to be made. FYI, KAMA ayurveda was acquired by PUIG, Forest Essentials luxury Ayurveda was acquired by Estee LAuder group. So the Market is eagerliy watching brands coming out of India. This activity will intensify in the next 5 years.
@@detospeaksluxury Well that is if they can compete with Titan Industries of course :D
So complex information explained in a smooth manner!
Keep making videos brother

Enjoying your niche on the business of luxury. Valuable. Keep it coming. You break things down in a simple and understandable way. Good work.
Thanks for the appreciation Mykie!
Well done and very informative. I'd like to know more about Men's luxury brands. I feel that most of these brands are at least a few decades old, and position themselves around legacy / certain geography / top designer which is very similar to premium Scotch brands as well. So, a few questions I'd like to know more about - i) Have some luxury brands have been able to emerge strongly in say 8-10 years time frame ii) How are these luxury brands able to command such a premium, etc. Looking fwd to more of your videos.
Thanks Saurabh. I will surely come out with more knowledge on this subject
Hi there, I am sorry I missed responding to your questions. 1) Mny brands did exceedingly well in the 2010-2020 period. China was growing rapidly. Global wealth wa goind up. During Covid, sales went further up! People had the YOLO syndrome - you lnly live once i.e. 2) They Command a premium because they promise exclusivity, Access to heritage, and high quality craftsmanship, and cater to Beyond money, and Very Important Customers. Those who have the money need something not everyone uses - Luxury comes into the picture. Please see all the videos, you will hopefully gatther a lot of new, good information.
A great dose of men’s luxury knowledge
Thanks Asit!
