Make A Beautiful Box [With Just A Circular Saw Jig]
Making decorative little boxes is a great way to hone your skills as a woodworker. Most people might not think to grab their circular saw
for this task, but if you only have a circular saw, or would like the challenge, this can be a good way to do it.

Circular Saw Only! 3 Important Jigs To Make
Переглядів 3,3 тис.Місяць тому
These 3 jigs are important for accurate circular saw cutting. I made these 3 jigs with only using my circular saw. Jig 1 and jig 2 are made first, which then allowed me to build jig 3.

    U can't really do it in the store but i usualy check by puting the square up against the edge of my workbench and marking with a pencil a small line at both ends of the edge or just doing a line all the way down then flip it and aline the bottom with the mark and see if the top lines up all tho it dosent work as well with this kind of squre. also as long as its within a mm its probably fine for most things made if wood as most things made of wood will shift a little anyway

    You have to assume.your square is accurate which is a reach. Problem is no measurement can ever be exact. Even the lines on a measuring device have a width. Meaning the measurement is always approximate

    You tested 50 squares ? With the same jig ? How did you not get confused by all the scores ?

    The clamp is going to torsionally deform the metal, but it doesn't matter because it's not high carbon steel that's been cryogenically treated and laser hardened so that will never be square. Just use a piece of paper

    Not necessarily put square on something mark then flip !

    Pointless as a zero clearance cutter. It’s only useful if you only ever cut 90’s or 45’s on your saw, once you start cutting other angles the wood and therefore zero clearance would be gone expect for your 2 x 45’s

    Does this work going all the way to 45 as well? Mine stops in mid 44. I think I need to clean these gears out too though.

      Yes, there’s another stop you can adjust on the 45 degree side.

    A real carpenter will square his framing square. I was taught this on the first custom staircase I worked on, over thirty years ago. If you think that is going to stay square than you are delusional.

    You dont need to spend time making this contraption. The concept is correct, but you only need to use the edge of MDF or other similar straight board. Flip as described, and use center punch on crotch or at outside corner to adjust.

    First off… woah, cool jig!!! Second… this is some of the best building content I’ve seen because I’m hearing the thought process as you go along, you legit have to check each time to see if your cuts turned out accurate, and the IMAGE showing in the finished piece which part you’re working on! Great video thanks!

    Next time put a really weird design on the face of the wood to distract from the corner. Adding something that dangles and is shiny works very well too

    The wood soaks up the water, even into the crushed bit. Then the heat causes the water to expand and puff the crushed wood back out. Pretty clever way to basically undo compression. I wonder if sticking it in a vacuum chamber would do the same thing? Probably not as practical as this.

  • @seanjoker223
    @seanjoker223 21 день тому

    I don't know for sure but I think it's the heat making it more rigid. Literally giving the wood a stiffy 😂

    • @bdmayhem3391

      A dent is the fibers of the wood compressing. Steam will make the fibers expand back to where they were before.

    • @23skiddsy6
      @23skiddsy6 21 день тому

      Wood is like a bunch of straws, literally the tree's circulatory system. While alive, they transport water and sugars. In this case, the straws got crushed, but adding some water/spit and then heating it to make it turn to steam and expand got the pressure of the steam to un-crush the straw like hollow fibers of the wood.
