Mamas & Papas Primo Viaggio - Seat Cover Removal and Re-Installation
Переглядів 4,5 тис.3 роки тому
Welcome to Safely Travelled! In this video James show's you how to remove and re-install the seat cover from a Mamas and Papas Primo Viaggio car seat. www.safelytravelled.co.uk Safe travels
How to install it without isofix?
All you do is fold the ISOFIX bars underneath the seat and then place it in the car like normal. Remember though that when the seat is unoccupied you should use the car's seat belt to retain it, otherwise it would be free to move under braking or in an accident.
@@SafelyTravelled thanks a lot.
Can you remove the back rest from the booster seat on this one?
Hi Mike, it comes it two parts as you saw in the video but it's not designed to be used without the backrest.
Interesting and useful review. Thank you
No problem and thanks for taking the time to comment.
Thank you for posting this! It helped so much for setting this up for my children!
That's great to hear and thanks for taking the time to comment.
That’s one headache resolved before my first arrives 😂 thank you
Thanks for taking the time to comment. A little late to reply but I hope all is going well with your first.
What is the brand of these covers? Is there specific model of them?
That seat was definitely not installed correctly at all there should be no movement.
All ISOFIX seats have some lateral movement when unloaded, it's an important part of the design. I agree though that I should have pushed the seat back more in to the car's seat which goes some way to reducing the movement.
Seat is incorrectly installed in this video, please take care to read the instructions! Base should have been pushed back against the car seat backrest by using the handle under the base once the isofix connectors are engaged.
Thanks for the informative video, I'm about to pull the trigger on this! My daughter insists on the pink and red one though!
Hello, maybe you could tell me please where is the difference between s i fix and s2 i fix? Cant find any information, except that s2 is more new.
Hi Victoria, from what I can see the S2 has slightly more padding in the head area and a few tweaks to the base, but it doesn't gain any new features. The exception is that some of the colourways appear to come with a cup holder, which the original model didn't have. My kids are still using their seats (and will be for some time) and they are holding up well, so I'd definitely buy them again.
Hi James, very informative video and one of the very few i've found on the internet about this product . Got a couple of Qs if you don't mind assisting with; 1) are they comfortable for the kids (especially in the long run since they are supposed to stay there till 12yrs or whatever..) 2) is the back section quite wobbly , making creaking noises everytime you take a corner with the car or going over speed bumps.? Cheers and well done again
Hi there, thanks for the positive feedback, it's really appreciated. Regarding your questions, yes, both my children find the seats very comfortable and they have no complaints. I am looking at stocking a product (KneeGuard Kids) that acts as a footrest which I think would make them even more comfortable going forward. The back section isn't wobbly once installed in the car as the ISOFIX mounts keep the child seat firmly pressed into the car seat. As a result there are no noises coming from the seats when the children aren't in the car with me. Since this video the seats have moved in to a Mercedes GLC and the process of removing and re-installing them was super easy too. It's a shame that Cybex won't let me stock/sell them but I keep trying.
Are you able to fit two rear facing infant car seats?
Great video. Going to buy the S2 for my daughter. How old are your kids? I know it's adjustable in the height, but how about the width? Is it big enough to fit a small 4 year old girl and a bigger, let's say 10 year old boy?
Hi Nicolai, my children are 7 (8 next month) and 6 and there's plenty of room currently. The challenge is that in the car they are now installed in (Audi A4) the top of the seat when fully extended is very close to the roof so I doubt I will be able to keep my son in it much beyond 140cm even though it is rated to 150cm. There is some flexibility in the sides to allow for movement when getting close to the width and I don't think that will be a problem through to 140cm.
how about just using the boosters without the high-backs?
Hi Omar, I don't recommend that parents use boosters without high-backs unless it's unavoidable. Backless boosters offer much less side impact protection and they don't allow for the correct routing of the seat belt. Given high backed boosters fit in a car as small as a Mini I can't see a reason not to use them.
Thank you for this video. I need to wash the seat cover. Would you maybe have any instructions for me for this ? 🙏🏼 thanks a lot if you do ☺️! Seams rather difficult to me….
Great job thanks
With two of these in your car is there enough room for an adult in the middle? If not can you recommend any other reclining booster seats for 4 year old and up?
Hi Ben, there definitely isn't enough room between these seats even when installed in my wife's Mercedes GLC. The Axkid Big Kid 2 is a little narrower but not by much but it might be worth you trying those although it all depends on what car you are fitting them in to.
Is it I size standards.
Hi Mary, Big Kid 2 Premium is certified to ECE R44/4 not i-Size which is R129.
Thanks very helpful 😊👍
Thank you very much for the helpful video..
Thanks so much, but what if I don't have isofix in my car , how I fix it with right way?
Hi Hossam, thanks for the question. With this seat you can fold the ISOFIX connectors away so they are hidden beneath the seat. You can then install it in a car without ISOFIX and use it as normal.
@@SafelyTravelled Thanks so much 🙏
its a car. not living object. so what when damaging the seat? how much can you damage the seat with an isofix?
I regularly install car seats in customer's cars. It might be their pride and joy (which is how I treat my own cars) or they might treat it like it's a disposable object (which seems to be your approach). It's not for me to judge but it is my job to help people make well informed decisions and I see plenty enough damage from the installation of car seats that I always recommend using a mat. If a customer chooses not to use one then that's fine - I'm not not forcing them to buy one.
Could you please do a video on how to remove the base of the seat? I see you already removed it before this video. I need it badly
Hi Adaobi, unfortunately I no longer have the base, so I can't do a video. It was over 10 years old and that is considered the point beyond which you shouldn't use this type of equipment in the UK. I did do a video that shows how to disassemble it though, which may show you what you need. I do recall that it wasn't very intuitive, so I am not surprised to hear you are having trouble. It's here: ua-cam.com/video/ciVuGjbMgpg/v-deo.html Also this seat is labelled as a Peg Perego Primo Viaggio in other markets so you may also be able to find some video content by using that in your search too. Good luck and all the best, James
@@SafelyTravelled thanks a lot. I got it from other videos. I'm still grateful for this video here.
This is the most useful video on the planet earth. Just when I thought I don't need it, boom, it became the best video I've seen so far. Dear James, you just helped me solve a very big puzzle. I got a used Mamas and Papas car seat. I couldn't figure out how to use it for my baby but I knew something wasn't right about the installation (the belt part). Your video has helped reveal the wrong part and helped me reinstall it correctly. It's a huge relief for me. I just don't know how the former user used it. God bless you so much.
Thank you very much!
Hi and thanks for watching the video, I'm glad you found it useful.
Great video! Thanks.
Does the isofix latches rotate beyond 180 degrees. Our cars Isofix is in an elevated position to the seat base and we would like the booster to sit on the chair rather than elevated 2" in the air.
Yes they do. In the car I fitted them to they needed to point down but they can just as easily point upwards, allowing you to sit the base of the Cybex seat correctly on the car's seat base. Out of interest, what car are you fitting them to as it is unusual that the ISOFIX mountings are set too high and it would be good to investigate further.
