DAY-1 Highlights
Starting in Fox Glacier: Our adventure begins in the charming town of Fox Glacier, nestled in the Westland Tai Poutini National Park.
Scenic Drive: The drive from Fox Glacier to Queenstown covers approximately 330 kilometers and takes around 5 hours by car. We pass through lush rainforests, serene lakes, and charming small towns.
Māori Beach: A serene spot with golden sands and clear waters, perfect for a relaxing break.
Lake Paringa: A pristine lake surrounded by temperate rainforest, ideal for boating, fishing, and swimming.
Ship Creek: A beautiful spot with calm, clear waters and lush surroundings. We flew our drone to capture stunning aerial footage.
Waterfalls Along the Way: We visit Thunder Creek Falls, Fantail Falls, Roaring Billy Falls, and Depot Creek Falls, each offering unique natural beauty.
Haast: A small town known for its rugged landscapes and rich history, gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Te Wāhipounamu.
Crown Range Road: The highest main road in New Zealand, covered in snow from a recent snowfall, transforming the scenery into a winter wonderland.
Pisa Conservation Area Lookout: Stunning panoramic views of the Upper Clutha and Wakatipu basins, and the Southern Alps. We had fun playing in the snow, building a snowman, and having a snowball fight.
Queenstown: The adventure capital of New Zealand, with a perfect blend of natural beauty and thrilling activities.
DAY-2 Highlights
Starting in Frankton: We kick off our adventure in the charming town of Frankton, where we stayed to save on accommodation costs while still enjoying beautiful views and easy access to Queenstown.
Scenic Drive: The drive from Frankton to Glenorchy is nothing short of spectacular. We cruise along the edge of Lake Wakatipu, with the Remarkables mountain range providing a stunning backdrop. Every turn reveals a new, breathtaking view.
Spontaneous Stops: We couldn't resist stopping at various spots along the way. From hidden beaches to unexpected viewpoints, we captured some amazing footage and enjoyed the serene beauty of the area.
Exploring Glenorchy: Once we arrived in Glenorchy, we were blown away by its natural beauty. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and pristine lakes, Glenorchy is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. We also tried some delicious local food at Mrs Woolly's General Store-don't miss their famous Full Monty sundae!
Pisa Conservation Area Lookout: Next, we headed to the Pisa Conservation Area lookout to enjoy the snow. The views from the top were incredible, with panoramic vistas of the Upper Clutha and Wakatipu basins, and the Southern Alps in the distance. We had a blast playing in the snow, building a snowman, having a snowball fight, and even making snow angels. There was a funny moment when I slipped and fell into a pile of snow-everyone had a good laugh!
Drone Footage: Throughout our journey, we captured stunning aerial footage with our drone. The snow-covered landscape and crystal-clear waters made for some amazing shots. Remember to follow New Zealand's drone regulations to ensure safety and respect for the environment.
