If you havent noticed that Ironwood is scared shitless. He is just now feeling the weight that ozpin has held all these years

*Spoiler alert* Y'know in the official companion book, it states that Arthur is supposed to be what Dr. Watson would be like if he met Prof. Mortiary when he should've met Sherlock Holmes. That made me wonder who is the Professor Mortiary that told Watts to use his genius for bad. Well, in this episode, it shows that the good doctor and Jacques know each other well. So I made a theory that Watts was probably bullied sometime in his youth and Jacques somehow someway inspired him to use his intellect to get even with his tormentors and basically anyone else who he believed to have wronged him in someway. That's my theory.

This is one case where being subtle kind of fails. I wished they’d driven home point that this was the mine that Illia’s parents were killed in. A lot of people miss it the first time and that whole scene loses its meaning if you don’t realize what’s going on fully.

The ending part of that episode is some of the most perfectly framed and scored scenes I have seen in all of television and cinema. Whatever your opinion of RWBY in general, CRWBY should be proud of how well executed this episode was.

I love how Jaune is the one who managed to get one up on Neo. She’s clearly a fighter who relies on counterattacks, so seeing Jaune act on defense providing his own counterattack was an appropriate move. Even if he did take her by surprise. Way to go, Blonde Knight!

Had the general been genuinely competent and united stlas and mantle Post-Beacon fall, then this would be mad easy. With both cities united, less people would be willing to blame the atlas elites when smth bad happens in mantle, thus attracting less Grimm and allows for more forces to be directly focused onto supplying amity. , not to mention the risk of bandits decreasing to 0%. This would mean that smith would’ve canonically been completed by Chp4 of V7, and saved so many people. Not to mention that Salem’s forces would stick out like a green thumb when the people of mantle KNOW that atlas is on their side, thus meaning that salem’s forces would only struggle more. Salem’s council work in divisions from the shadows, and aren’t that much powerful if they don’t. Take away their divisions, give them no place to escape the light, and they crumble with ease. Clover + Qrow + Elm can beat Tryian easily, and Ironwood + Winter can dispose of watts before he gets the chance to do anything. From there, they could focus FAR MORE troops into combatting Neo and Cinder, which means that the chances of winter not getting her powers drops tremendously.

Ironwood is doing everything right. Ironwood tells them his plan to bring communication and trust into their whole world again. Ruby decides to lie despite hating that Ozpin Lied to them and their whole team agreeing “no more lies”. Ironwood gives the relic as a sign if trust. Ironwood says they need to work together to fight the villain and win. He upgrades all their weapons. He shows his friendship by hugging crow and is genuinely glad to see his old friend again during these troubling times.

I feel like this episode is when people first started calling Team RWBY Mary Sues, seeing them be so easily let off the hook for stealing an airship does definitely give off that vibe. However, given Cordovin was refusing to let them get to Atlas, refusing to let them bring the Lamp to Ironwood, and endangering Argus with her attempts to stop them, almost entirely because of her rivalry with Maria, it honestly makes sense what they did, and it wasn't like everyone was happy or even really fine with doing it. I would not be surprised if Cordovin was demoted or discharged sometime offscreen given how serious of an offense Ironwood may view what she did as. So in all honesty, this is most definitely not the moment Team RWBY become Mary Sues.
