We were treated to an amazing light show on our way from Nairobi to London! The skies were literally electric that night! So what is it? Is it DANGEROUS?! (Note: strictly this isn't St. Elmo's Fire - that is another phenomenon also linked to highly charged, static atmospheres, but it is generally accepted and called this among aviation enthusiasts and pilots too!)

Looks like a nice early morning run. I’m surprised it was so quiet “people wise” until your latter part of your run. Apart from the views there were some interesting outdoor artwork you passed. Whilst I’m not “into” art in a heavy way I did like the “pail pouring yellow paint over a face”. I think its called, “Liquid Sunshine“ (by Michael Alfano), according to an internet page I viewed. Thanks for posting your Newark run.

Well, Helen, this was a pleasant way to begin my day. I just turned 78 on June 3rd. Looking back, I've come to realize that curiosity has been the dominant sensation in the full and rewarding life that I've been blessed with. I suspect that you are under that same spell. Don't fear getting distracted on occasion!! Your life experience and thought processes will weed out what doesn't fit. "Today is the first day of the rest of your life". Have a good one.

Hi! So it depends on the airline. Some you get to senior first officer once you gain 1500 hours, others it with a certain amount of years' service, and with others it's when you have passed your command assessment awaiting command (as in my previous airline). My current airline it's after 4 years continuous service. So it's not one answer here!
