Delicious. Your dog is so cute
Thank you for watching
Looks good..
Thanks for watching!
All my kids, grand kids are in USA and I have no intention of abandoning them by retiring in Cambodia. But to visit occasionally might be ok.
Sounds good, not everyone see Srok Khmer as a place for retirement. Thanks for the comment!
❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching
Most of them are scammers from credit card and fraud taxes from the government early 90 like Westminster California
Understood, thanks for watching
It's very different from Khmer people, every where Khmer people go they don't care or value the business , they care only kneeling worshipping monk in the pagoda or in the temple. I like good Vietnamese, they are working hard and so modern.
I want to go back to Cambodia next year buying a house but don't know what company should I trusted
Get Khmer citizen, put the property under your name, and search good location
Just an observation, i find Vietnamese women (some) to be very Feminine/elegant as are some Thai's, not sure about Khmer as i haven't met any or Burmese?
It's good to share observations from your experience!
Vietnamese people who are embarrassed each other no matter what they go to their own store restaurant you name it that’s why!
I am Khmer and Thai American. The Vietnamese Kinh people are very hard workers. Which is why I married my wife, who is full Vietnamese Kinh from southern Vietnam in Long Xuyen city. She and her family escaped the fall of Saigon in 1975, when the North Vietcong took over south Vietnam and fled by boat. It was so much hardships they had to endure on the boat, especially the Thailand pirates, who ended up killing, robbing, and raping most of the Vietnamese boat people. Now she works full time as a Pharmacist and manager at the local Costco near our house. And we have 4 beautiful children that can speak Khmer, Thai, and the Vietnam king language. We always go back to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand every year to visit all our family and relatives. 🇺🇸🇰🇭🇻🇳🇹🇭
Cambodians and Vietnamese are very hard workers.
@@tachapchannel very hard workers Pou. Both Khmer and cambodia Khmer people endured the hardships of war, so they use that mentality to better themselves in USA.
@@solidstudd22 I appreciated your comment
Thanks so much for sharing
@@tachapchannelanytime Pou. I appreciate to be on your level soon. Me and my wife plan to retire in Cambodia and Vietnam once we are finished with our work here in the U.S.A. I bought land just like you in Siem reap under my name. and we have land and a house in Vietnam under my wife’s name. Our kids will definitely live in our current house here in USA and overlook the our 2 rental houses.
I hope you don’t mind telling me how big is your land and much does it cost? Thank you
1.8 hectares and house for $60,000.
Where is ur house what the city maybe close to me
I retired in Cambodia. I'm only here to visit my sons.
I used to pay my property tax $10,000 per year in Chicago (Cook county),IL with 1500 sf house some of my friends even pay more
And increase every year
@@tachapchannel We made the right choice moved out and pay less with bigger and newer house 2400 SF with gated community only $3500 per year Also we fed up with freezing cold and snow ❄️ but we don’t mind dry heat
That’s good you’re finding your way out
Cambodia is a great place with great culture. There are plenty of places you can retire in the US for cheap. Anyhow, for me the biggest difference between Cambodia and America is freedom. Speak wrong in Cambodia and you might just find yourself a missing person.
Stay away from politics and religions. Just enjoy your retirement you will be ok.
@@tachapchannel It's not about getting into politics or even wanting to start anything. When you are a "rich American" you become a target no matter how much you want to keep to yourself. You can blend in better than me but I stick out. Cambodia has a culture of scams, bribes, coercion and other things that people don't want to talk about. Just getting out of the airport is a challenge for me. I have never had any real issues when I visit but I am always on my toes.
This country is not for everyone
There are a lot of benefits you get for living outside USA..but your tax prepare must understand expatmtaxes
Will look into it

Americans don’t go outside on their own streets. I don’t see any other people in this video. No safety in the US.
I think they gone to work.
My jaw drooping when i heard property tax for that property is $13,000. are you sure $13,000 or $1,300 per year?
Property tax is $13,000 a year.
United States of America especially in California, the cost and living are unbelievable.
Everything from groceries to gas is more expensive due to high labor costs, transportation costs, and regulations.
California is too darn expensive to buy a house.
Agreed, thanks for watching
Welcome back! We sold everything after our retirement and bought a small townhouse with two bedrooms so we can travel freely. We only need about $600 per month to keep our property so it cost both of us about $1,000 to $1,500 the most including all expenses, and our medicare in Minnesota. For extra cash from real-estate gain, you do not pay any taxes. We've been visiting Cambodia every year for the last ten years since our retirement but we still come back to the US. Downsizing everything after retirement and to stop all unnecessary expenses are a key to our happy retirement. Both of our children are in their late 30s and both of them have paid off their mortgages. US is still a great country for freedom and many opportunities. Sharing is caring. Peace out from Borey Peng Houth, Phnom Penh now!
Thank you for sharing your experience! 🎉
Was this apartment complex or prison camp. ? I meant.
apartment
I live in San Jose and hopefully retire in Srok Khmer in the future. I have 2 boys in their 20's so I am not sure how we are going to do it. Working on my retirement plan right now. I love watching your videos. Any advice are welcome!
If you plan to retired in Srok Khmer, you might want to take sometimes to investigate the place first, then rent out an apartment to stay for a few months to see how you like it. After few months you can make your decision. For both of you, the cost of living in Siem Reap is about $1,600 for comfortable living. Best wishes!
I would love to move to Cambodia because it cost too much for my wife and I going back and forth. In December of 2024 we were there about 3 weeks and February the 3rd we are going again about a month.
Before moving completely to Cambodia, you might want to rent an apartment where you would like to stay few months then make your decision. You want to do this first because Cambodia might not meet your expectation. Wish you the best!
@ I own apartment complex about 15 minutes from the airport. I owned this apartment about 7 years and I never rented out.
Is your apartament in Cambodia or US?
@ I have in Cambodia and I have in Chicago, Illinois. I love real estate.
@@jlong232 Very well planning When we retired two years ago, our plan was downsizing
Hello Tachap - Do you plan to sell your home in the US or keeping it? If keeping it, what would be some of yours and your spouse reasons to keep it...? Trying to learn those reasons from you guys... Is it a strategy? These are valuable lessons for some of us...
I'm keeping it, my sons are living in it. We are commuting back and forth between US and Cambodia.
❤❤❤❤
Thanks
Congratulations bong you are a millionaire! Welcome home 👍😁
Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it!
Welcome home!
It's good to be back!

Thanks so watching
Cost of living in California skyrocketed after the pandemic end😢
Some fellows Khmer American moved to retire in abroad because of that.
We lived in San Jose for over 30 years before moving to Florida two years ago. We plan to retire in Cambodia in 10 years when the kids finish college 😊
Fantastic, very good plan
Love watching your videos, pretty informative and your views are balance not bashing USA or Cambodia ❤❤
I think so, thanks for your comment. 🎊
I totally understand your frustration living in the bay area, Pu. I lived in Stockton, and it has been so expensive that I had to move my parents out to another state. I feel your pain about living in the US and paying so much for everything and anything. Once me and my husband reach our retirement age, we will be moving and will be retire in Siem Riep. Thank you for sharing your journey and I am your number 1 follower :) I hope one day we can meet you and you learn from your knowledge and experience, Pu. Keep up the good vlogging.
Glad to hear that you'll join us in Siem Reap later. Thanks for enjoying the videos, kmuy. 🎉
Make sure you get your Khmer citizenship, if you plan to retire in Cambodia.
@@solidstudd22good advice
I lived in Fremont near there in the early 90's and really liked it there. Was used to Columbus Ohio for most of my life prior so the climate there felt warmer than Ohio winters. I traveled all over N California for my job and Reno area as well. Fond memories of the entire Bay area as well. Much better then - than now in the city ( SF ) especially. It was a great experience to see the entire area of the state ! ( Northern half ) - - - I would like Siem Reap I believe now that I'm much older and retired ! ❤👍🙏👌✌
The Bay area's weather is pretty awesome throughout the year. Join me in Siem Reap and maybe we'll create a khmer American Community in Siem Reap. 🎉
Very informative thanks 🙏🏿 what app did you use for editing your videos ?

Be careful if you go for walks in America ! If your family has a dog maybe you can bring it .
Thanks for warning
When you will be back ?
3 weeks
My boys love to go Habit in that location. Welcome back to the cold weather!
It's great to be back in the US!
I had pizza, in-n-out, and soda when I came back. I usually don't eat burgers or drink sodas.
I can relate! It's hard to resist when you're on vacation.
How do feel about you United States?
It's good to have a second place to live and US is a good place to live as well.
Welcome back to America!
Glad to be back! Thanks
Didn't know you from the bay area. welcome back to USA
Yes live in the bay. Thank you
❤❤❤❤
Thanks
Enjoy your family!
Thanks
I thought Seam Reap is your home!! I was joking. What is your advice ? My wife and I wanted to retire in Cambodia too. I am Khmer from BB province, been away for 40 years
My best advice would be, you go visit the city that you like and rent apartment a month or so. Learn how to live like the locals and try it out to see if both of you like it. You can contact me anytime.
And make sure you get your citizenship in cambodia
I feel your pain with that $15 meals. 😂🤣 Welcome back brother!
Thanks for watching
