I think this is a very hot take. I love Vanilla Minecraft more than any mod produced experience could ever give me (and i have played with multiple mods on friend's servers) The game would still be alive and well without mods, especially now with many different ways to enjoy it. The problem i have with most mods is that they try to make minecraft into something it isnt. for example the Cisco mod kinda makes it feel like you're playing Skyrim with dungeons and boss fights, but at the end of the day if i wanted to play skyrim.... I would JUST play skyrim. Dont get me wrong playing these mods with friends is cool, but i never get the same minecraft feel when playing them. The only thing that would die if mods didnt exist are the community that needed them to play the game in the first place.

A its not costed it's cost. B no sh*t it feels like a prototype it's their first production run. C actual runtime is about 65 hours because it's standby mode sucks

not ever playing without add ons in BR, and mods in Java going forward. The updates wear off quickly in Vanilla. And the only reason I got around 12 add ons in BR was to have an experienced opinion for which to play. Well, if one has a PC with any power, it's Java. I have zero expectations for MS or Mojang to provide anything.

It's such a difficult place for Mojang as well because of how there will still be people complaining about how a major update "doesn't seem minecraft-y" yet several of the most famous mods that change gameplay don't seem like they belong to minecraft at all. It's such a 50/50 scale where they could release major updates but have people feel overwhelmed or make them feel it's not "minecraft-y" or release little updates but have the gameplay stay exactly the same regardless of what content they add (like how the creaking and the warden doesn't greatly alter minecraft's gameplay at all)

The mods help me get immersed

If modding is the most important part of minecraft, why don't open source minecraft alternatives like minetest become popular?
