    I find it really interesting seeing biker responses to this trike. It seems that if you're used to riding a normal motorbike then it almost feels like an embarrassment. But if you're a car driver who would need to go through full test to ride a normal bike, and doesn't want to ride a scooter with L plates, this seems like a good option. Personally I'd still do at least my CBT, but I like the idea of riding something a bit more substantial than your average scooter, with perhaps a bit more stability/safety. There's definitely a niche for this type of bike!

    The Tricity 300 can be ridden on a car licence. The Tricity 125 requires a CBT. It’s to do with the spacing between the front wheels. The 125 has a narrower space between the wheels and is therefore classified as a motorbike.

    Interesting comments about how cars try to bully you when you're riding a scooter in a way they wouldn't do if you were on a big bike. It's the same with small cars, drivers will bully a Fiat 500 then find it's a Abarth and it will leave them for dead. As a born-again biker one thing I've noticed is that in the 1980s and 1990s most big bikes would leave most cars for dead on the motorway with a quick twist of the throttle and dropping a gear. Nowadays, cars are much faster and while bikes may also be faster the 70mph speed limit remains the same. You don't feel you can just leave an aggressive bully driver behind without going well beyond 100mph.

    Fantastic review just what I have been searching for a review from someone like who rides almost everyday. Got rear ended while stationary 12 days ago in the Alps while leading 8 guys on tour luckily on the last day before heading home. The bike is probably a write off and I had some quite severe torso injuries broken ribs internal bleeding etc. This type of air bag with the sensor would definitely have minimised my injuries which are going to take months to recover from especially at my age. Thank you, definitely going down this route and this has helped me cut through the crap. Great vid quality and sound, managed to salvage my cameras but lost my brand new Dji Mic 2 in the crash. FB👍

      It seems that we don’t ride the same bike. No, the suspensions are perfectly adequate. The front brake is excellent and the rear brake OK. All in all, the handling is truly excellent. There are vibrations sure, it’s a triple, not a four, but they are annoying only in the footpegs. (The new XSR900GP has footpegs with a rubber top. I’m considering buying those. More stylish than the FJR’s.) Yes, the seat is horribly uncomfortable. But I’ve test ridden the bike before purchasing it and this was no surprise for me. I haven’t bought this "modern cafe racer" to do some long distance touring anyway. I have other bikes for that.

  • @langhamp8912
    @langhamp8912 25 днів тому

    I have the same bike, even in the same color. A few thoughts: The bar-end mirrors are fantastically designed for urban riding. You can simply fold them inward and then they are no wider than the handlebar. The seat is uncomfortable if you wear jeans but removing the seat shows that it is surprisingly thick. There's two settings for the footpegs. Pushing the throttle past closed cancels cruise control. Setting the display to flash at a pre determined RPM (set by the user) works much better than trying to read the tiny display. The fuel-gauge is terrible; I use the "gallons consumed" instead. The stock exhaust is fine. I know it's bike culture to be loud, but I urge you to spend a day being an urban pedestrian; of all the vehicles on the road it's invariably the bikers who are deafeningly and painfully loud. It's no coincidence that both UK and US local ordinance is coming down hard on bikers. In my opinion, buyers should only buy this bike if they intended to do trackdays with it. It's far too much for the street when an XSR700 or ZX650 would work just as well and be more comfortable. This bike is dangerous without its rider aids. It makes more power and weighs less than the original Honda CBR900RR. A small Dart windscreen settles the front of the bike down very nicely. I find naked sportbikes to benefit greatly from a small fly screen which pushes the front end down. Hepco and Becker now makes a fantastic c-bow panniers for this bike. It's not cheap but it makes the bike quite practical.

      I think the 4 cylinders were meant for the ladies. They wouldn't care anyway. If I would have to trade my 3.0L for a 2.0, I'd rather not have it at all.

    I will buy it to have it from A to B. You know how much I care about motorbike fans and their sect behaviour? I don"t. This is great for my needs. The same way I acted now they give you opinions you dont have to listen

    I've put 8 hour interstate ride days on my 2018 C14, at around the 6 hour point I'm looking to be done, but i can keep going. I do have a Sargeant seat, 2" bar risers with set back 1", tail trunk and Roadsmart 3 rubber under it. I'm tuned with the Mountain Runner tune from Shoodaben Engineering, and it runs extremely strong. It pulls the front tire between the first 3 gears of your letting her eat. It's an amazingly fast yet comfortably rideable bike.

    Been watching videos about this bike for a month, never had a bike before and I'm about to get a similar one. I'm nervous to be honest. The bike is beautiful. Love for the love people.

    it is not a gyroscope that keeps the Tricity upright at a stop , there is an electrical brake disk and pads under the fairing above the front suspension , you probably know this by now but for the benefit of anyone thinking of buying one I thought it best to mention . oh and if you store the Tricity over winter with stand assist locked on and the battery goes flat , you cant unlock the stand assist , don't ask how I know 🤣

    I live in Australia and bought a 22 Tricity 300 no-foot brake fitted, a very neat plate covers the place where it is supposed to be. The dealer said the foot brake is not fitted in Australia. Yamaha must have changed the braking system for Australian models as the brakes work well on both hand levers. The braking system is good can't see any need for a foot brake. Been riding all types of bikes for over 60 years. I don't use the stand-alone when riding I use it for push parking only.

      The foot brake is required in Europe for the Car License for Tricycle regulations (which Australia doesn't have). This is cause car drivers can understand a foot brake by default and that engages both brakes at the same. Its removal is a cost saving.

    Must be the year for ferry rides. We are taking the 13 hour ferry to Newfoundland and spending 2 weeks there. Travelling to Newfoundland we plan for rain, hope you stay dry. What a amazing place to visit, have a good safe trip.
