Ford/lincoln/mercury v6 3.5L p0203 Fuel Injector circuit
Customer complaint it SES light and misfire. Found codes p0203 and p0303 in computer. Had no Voltage waveform at pcm. Removed intake which only takes about 15 min or so. Measure resistance at injector. Cylinder 3 injector had high resistance compared to multiple known good injectors. Made sure with small test light that i had control still of the circuit. This is important to do because a shorted injector could damage the driver in the computer. Most cars have a detection system to protect that driver. Make sure to clear all codes in engine computer before checking for signal at connector. Last check for pin drag if problem is intermittent or resistance is normal after intake removal.

Trying to make my video diags longer without being boring. First up is Nissan NV2500 with code p0456 Evap leak small. Used scan tool to close vent valve while smoking system from service port in engine bay. After waiting a little for the float in the sight glass to go down all the way signaling no leak. I closed off the vent with some pinch off pliers to see if the float falls to the bottom. ne...

Took many days and hours but found out on this 2.5L motor if you unplugged cam sensor the car would stay running no issue, but as soon as you plugged in sensor car would die with no codes in ecm. With cam sensor unplugged car will not start until it sets a cam code then after would run no issue with epc light on...

PP draw monitor update

Been using this thing a lot lately and wow this thing is the bomb the only downside seems to be the bluetooth really. Your phone or device has to be close enough that it can record for intermittents. However if you have a burner phone or tablet that can run the software/ app. Then you can keep it going overnight for really delayed draws. This will allow you to view over long time with very accu...
Cleaning Oil Control valves with scan tool

Figured i would post me tool hall from my local harbor freight. Seems like i was wrong before with the warranty they are automatic 5 years now on the Hercules line of power tools. They tend to eat through batteries in storage (at least the earlier models did), so I always store them with the batteries out. Also I wouldn't use alkaline batteries in them because of the risk of batteries leaking and destroying a $700 electronic tool.

    That is a little odd that it rolls left to right, instead of right to left like everything else. That internal battery makes it a little easier, but i think having the “source” feeding back through a different path could potentially mislead your diagnosis in certain scenarios. I have an Hscope which has a data logger function in the app that can be used to monitor for an intermittent draw like this. I used it again recently on a 2009 Acura MDX that had a 2A spike every 45 seconds and it kept the system awake with a continuous 245ma draw. The Hands Free module was the culprit. The scope arrived safely. Very nice. It will get used frequently i’m sure. Thanks again.

    • @Kennystoolreview
      @Kennystoolreview 23 дні тому

      i've used it a lot in the short time i have had it and it definitely doesn't mislead your diagnosis as long as you are not trying to use a amp clamp to follow the draw. Especially since on a lot of draws now a days follow the amp draw may lead you down the wrong path anyways. for instance on this vehicle if you sat and waited for the draw to happen you would of found that the lights were the draw, but the light were being turned on due to this bad module waking up the can bus causing the lights to come on many hours after car has gone to sleep.

    • @BlainesGarage
      @BlainesGarage 23 дні тому

      I don’t use an amp clamp. I’ve found the voltage drop across the fuses method to identify circuits that are drawing power to be an excellent method to track them down. Since that device is supplying power back through to the fuse box through at least the the dlc fuse, at least that fuse will show a voltage drop across it that normally wouldn’t be there, as well as everything in its path back to B+, until it can loop back to the normal circuit loads that the draw may be on. A quick look at the power and ground schematic would let you know what you can expect and where since you’re supplying power at a different point in the entire circuit. If the actual draw just happens to be on the same fuse as the dlc fuse circuit, you may overlook it at first.

    • @Kennystoolreview
      @Kennystoolreview 23 дні тому

      @@BlainesGarage Good point ill make sure to keep it in mind when testing. Making a good point to check wiring diagrams before pulling fuses and having to put the vehicle back to sleep, or going after a red herring.

    Harbor freight is awesome for basically everything. Only things I go elsewhere for is the right angle impact wrench by Milwaukee or RIDGID and also grabbed the dewalt electric ratchets due to their torque being rated higher than all competitors (at that time) and they both work awesome for breaking off rusty bolts in tight compact spaces. Lastly I chose the ryobi die grinder because once again it beat all of its competitors including Milwaukee and snap on and it’s also much more compact than the Hercules one and can be used 1 handed. Other than those specific tools everything I own is Hercules 😂and for my RIDGID and ryobi tools I bought $15 battery converters on eBay so I can put my same Hercules battery’s on my ryobi and RIDGID tools😤🫡Moral of the story is I spent very little to no money in comparison to buying all Milwaukee or ridgid tools and can use (if needed) the monster 12 AH extended performance Hercules battery on any single one of my many different brands of tools. And I have the best or near best version of every tool in every category🎉all for cheap cheap🤝Yw

    Yep, all of the Hercules brushless are 5 year now. Congratulations on 100 subs. I have the 1st gen 1/2” compact like the one you broke. I’ve been waiting for a gen 3. The new gen 2 that you just got has less torque than the first one. That could be why someone returned it. That 4th power mode is simply a “speed” reduction after breakaway. There’s no extra gear reduction for more torque. The torque test channel had not so favorable results on the gen 2 when it came out. Hopefully gen 3 is coming soon.

    What are you referring to when you say primary and secondary? Is the primary the coil in this instance and secondary the plug?

    • @Kennystoolreview
      @Kennystoolreview Місяць тому

      I probably said something like a bad secondary can cause a bad primary. Basically what i mean is always replace your spark plugs and wire when you find a bad coil to prevent the new coil from going bad due to high resistance in the secondary. The secondary refers to any part of the system that handles high voltage. So the spark plug, wire (if equipped), and part of the coil (secondary winding) are all part of the secondary. The primary is before that and is what causes the spark in the secondary. The primary and secondary windings in the ignition coil do not touch the do all this through the collapse of a magnetic field. if the secondary is bad then the spark/ high voltage will have no where to go. All this high voltage will soon cook the driver that is inside the coil causing its failure.

It's kind of aggravating to see a bigger lineup with the cheaper bauer. Bauer has everything under the sun you would think Hercules would have the same. The bauer electric ratchet is rated for like 240ft lb manual, the hercules just pretty much says don't do it.

But i’ve heard that some states that don’t have safety inspections, the insurance is outrageous. With my clean driving record (3yrs or more with no infractions or points) i pay around $20/month for basic liability.

    I've got the Hercules 12v screwdriver with the 2ah battery, and used it to tear down a backpack blower housing without any problems, but you're right about the 4ah. It's not much than the 2 ah battery.

    I also by the name Kenny. I have the Autel MS908, and have experienced some issues with it. One thing that boils my blood is when I'm do a flight recording during a roadtest, then suddenly the scanner does a reboot right in the middle of the recording. When I got back, I threw that scanner clear across the shop where it bounced off the wall. I was sooo angry because it wasn't the first time. The stupid thing survived.
