PIT PONY WALLECE 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes ... I remember the miners coming home all blacked n dirty faced .. I remember in the late 40s mum doing toast at the fire-grate for me. My brother joined Bestwood colliery in Nottingham at 15 worked on the top...was allowed on the coal face at 18 ... mum so happy a coal allowance.Happy days. Brother was in a sanatarium at 20ish TB... never recovered ... it really killed him in the end....... I say .TO THE MINERS OF YESTER-YEAR Never forget them.
Awfully poor film. Please look at better mining films.
5 generations of my kin, 2 down the pits of Lancashire- Hapton & Bank Top. 2 down the pits of Doncaster and Sheffield.
I was an underground electrician at Walton Colliery starting my apprenticeship in 1962. Great memories. Left to join up in 1971, too many strikes.
Terrible working environment. Hard workers they sure were.
Open cast the worst kind of mining.
Why?
My dad was a miner , down in the pots for twenty years. He died in the mines at the age of 42. Ive been down in the mine and was horrified at the conditions my dad worked in , to clothe and feed our little family.
Kudos to the pony’s they didn’t get a choice
Yes, but the mules in the mine got to retire when they couldn’t work anymore while the miner suffered from black lung until his last breath.
A great video. I am very pleased the pit ponies got a break even if it was short.

Very good. Thanks for posting.
I live in tow law right and if ppl bad mouth tow law or don't get accepted into tow law then youve got a problem n need to find yourself a new home somewhere else cuz you'll get ran out otherwise
Scared...
my god some drinking was done . drinking from when drinking was a very serious business . a short life but a happy one .
Greate song lovely to hear the places I grew up with God bless Durham and the north east people
LOL :)
It's one of the most depressing holes in the North East. Nothing There.
Thats what appeals to some people I guess, away from city life
The first light they showed the miner kissing was a Davy Lamp to show if there was any gas
Childhood memories
OMG, just found this. I left Murton in 1968 and live in Dorset. I'm very proud of were I come from. When the mines closed, it ripped the heart and sole out of the North East.
I love this song Wallace
Cute laugh so much
His eyes 👀 are shit scary
Ethan Ayriss you shouldn't be disrespecting pony's that entered the pits. Many of them died in a very sad and sexual death
Btw, your small
That's true but kinda rude!Keep your own intentions to yourself!
Love this!
At the end after they lose their health and power, they would be sent to a slaughterhouse. What a great way to thank them !
Not much different to the miners of old.
MMMmmm, the pit i worked at we had about 90 ponies and they had a working life of 5 years, 6 months training then down the pit, when they were retired they were often bought by miners who took them home for their kids to look after, the few that did not were bought by people who looked after them until they reached that time all horses reach eventually, a lot of inner city farms bought them, I never heard of any pony working untill retirement then being destroyed, the NCB at the pit I worked at had stables and fields for them until suitable homes could be found, that didn't take long as there was a waiting list for them, the potential new owners were carefully chosen, the NCB employed someone who job was to rehome them, this was during the 1970s & 1980s, before that I cant comment about how they were retired but in all mining communities pit ponies could seen in fields everywhere.
Not in the UK they weren't, ponies retired to pasture.
Wonderful!
x3 X3
