Depends on what plugin you're loading... if it's a rack containing a 200GB sampler, then I suppose it'll take a while. My use scenario is just a few Ableton devices - works great.

Ok, first thing: how do you trigger the clip?

My tracks have between 1 and 4 clips. Each clip is triggered from a pad on my Arturia KeyLab Essentials keyboard.

@@powelldavid Ok, got it. Why the solo/mute thing then though? Can't you just simply trigger the clips you need on each track individually, without triggering every other track's?

@@TheNeonSyndicate I'd have to have potentially 100 pads to trigger each clip (up to 4 clips per track and as many as 25 tracks). I use 4 pads to trigger clips and one for tap tempo. That leaves me 3 and I'm not sure all 3 can be used as triggers. Even if they could, I'm far short of 100.

@@powelldavid may I suggest something like this: two pads you use to move left and right across your tracks, and one pad triggers the selected clip? Even though that's likely not what these speakers are designed for (they're not a mixer after all), technically speaking, I guess you could. If you did that, however, chances are you would far exceed the expected input level, causing audible distortion, so my suggestion would be to turn those 2 audio sources down to very low volumes first. By that same token, remember you also have bluetooth connectivity, so that's 3 audio sources for you!

The blue box, that changes the row in the session view, up and down, I know you can change the size but so you know if you can change the midi note to control?

This works only one way unfortunately. You can, however, export your MIDI files - though there's a bit of a workaround involved. The gist of it is, you have to save your MIDI regions as Apple Loops, then upload each loop here: larkob.github.io/GB2MIDI/index.html and download it as MIDI. Might be lengthy if you have lots of regions to export, but it's the only way unfortunately.

I initally had the projects on my iPad, and I can stream the audio from my iPad to Ableton, so I guess that's a solution, but I was hoping for an all in macOS way I guess. Thanks, man! @@luigiz666 Audio is possible! You need a virtual driver (= existential audio blackhole), then you would set your output in GB to that as well as your input in Ableton!

Was hoping it would work as I also took time to look for the midi cc's and then added em to the midi/map file I made the name FL_STUDIO_FIRE_(Jack_1) as in ableton it comes up as FL STUDIO FIRE (Jack 1)

Not possible I'm afraid. You could either change what the buttons send directly from your hardware if it allows remapping, otherwise your best bet is a MIDI conversion tool like MidiPipe for Mac or Bohme for Windows.

I don't know man. All I know is that I was starting to hear clicks and pops and crackles like when you have too low an audio buffer before, and this fixed it. Is there any way I can test your hypotheses?

I guess you can look at the CPU usage meter at the top right corner. If it goes over a conservative 30% , then it’s time to optimize the setup.

Hmm, don't think so. You might want to look into ClyphX - with that virtual control surface, you can have dummy clips on one track do pretty much everything you want on any other track. I have a video that might help you start out: ua-cam.com/video/B5RaW4hEcTI/v-deo.html

I actually figured out that I could create a blank audio clip (I used a random sample and turned gain down to zero) and automate the chain selector on that clip. But will look into ClyphX anyway! Thanks!

@@hypervigilante8651 Might do a tutorial on it at some point, but in a nutshell, it's Ableton Live's stock synth Drift going into a couple devices: wah-pedal, amp-head, cabinet, a bit of eq-ing and delay.

You can only use 2 channels with this script. My advice would be to use something like MidiPipe if you're on mac to convert the incoming MIDI channels so that they work with this script.

Yo! Haven't heard anything about that. I know they have expanded the line with several other models, but all of them are a little bigger and definitely pricier. Something as compact and powerful as this, I've yet to see, and given its huge success, my guess would be they want to keep milking it as long as possible

@@TheNeonSyndicate I've heard very good reviews about hivi swan os-10, which almost 2 times cheaper, without discounts on iLoud. I would love to get them, but my place is very limited, iLoud would be perfect, mkii even better (maybe without hissing and newer Bluetooth version (5.4 perfectly))

Happy to help. So the way I use this is, I have a couple of fx that are always there - distortion, chorus, delay, reverb... that kind of stuff. Since I'm using them constantly, it doesn't make sense for me to make them part of a preset and load/unload them with it, so any automation they need, I just write it in - but it's ok, there's just a few of them after all. What I do use this with is to switch patches on Drift, my only synth, and it's definitely super quick and reliable. Would it be the same if you had a rack with a CPU-hungry third-party soft synth + several effects? I don't know eh. Worth trying out though!

Following through as it tested this, it is not fast enough for live, but its certainly great to have as a way to switch sounds when you are in session view trying different sounds etc. Also there is a max for live device i think called chain selector which kindoff does the whole chain automation for you
