Haha, I saw this episode as a child and never caught the KFSL joke, also the fact that Homer has great taste in music.

I'm 30. As a child I just thought the children didn't like that music and feel embarrased, but I became a rock fan at 15 and now I fully identify with Homer 🤘🏻

This is the episode that made me fall in love with the town of Springfield - just look at those sweeping, morning vistas, mountains, hill roads, flat lands with tree lined roads; stunning.

Fun fact: KFSL is the call sign for a real radio station, and the letters actually do stand for "K.Fossil." Unfortunately, that's where the similarities end between the two stations. While the letters do stand for "Fossil" they are simply a reference to the location of the station: the tiny town of Fossil, Oregon. The real KFSL doesn't play any classic rock, they feature a classic country format. They also broadcast on 99.5, not 103. And perhaps the biggest difference: The real KFSL didn't yet exist in 1996 when this episode was made. They didn't go on the air until 9 years later, in 2005.
