Hi,
We’re the Ludlam’s. We are just beginning our homestead journey! We are by no means experts in any of this but our dream is to grow our own fruits and vegetables, have farm animals, make this place a really cool home for our daughter to grow up in & document it as we go.
We recently purchased our dream property after years of searching. It came with a fixer upper on it that we’ve been living in and fixing up & 2 run down chicken houses that were completely overgrown and taking up most of the property.
We are always working on something and will bring you along our journey.
Be sure to say hi & introduce yourself in the comments if your new here!

When I had chickens I used to give them porridge in the winter (not all the time but pretty regular) which they seemed to really love. I don't know a lot about chickens but it didn't seem to do them any harm and was cheap.
"I love how you incorporate technology into traditional farming-it's so innovative!"
watching your videos from Asia living in a concrete jungle city 😐
16:40 the fly is stealing the focus 🤣
Enjoying your channel and your sweet family. It’s hard work but you got this!

I’m still at 2 chickens but I built an amazing chicken tractor. Playlist of build on my channel
Love your honesty and your approach to your farm - hi from Australia 🇦🇺
It is my first time on your channel and I have just subscribed. Thank you so much for sharing. Keep up the good work. All the best on this journey.
How many of them died?
I started at 15 chickens now i have 30 i wish i had more😂
I like your Easter Egger cockerels! They should turn out to be beautiful boys! Could you tell us what breeds you have? I see Cream Legbars, Buff Orpingtons 'lavenders do not lay nearly as well as the buffs", what else?🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐓
Hai, I am new here, from India
They prefer to live and roost in the trees:) then its truly free too :)
Maddie Moo has features of a Jersey breed, such as the coloring and facial structure, but the bulkier neck and ears appear more pronounced, suggesting a different breed or mix. The overall size points towards a crossbreed with a larger breed like a Brahman.
We are thinking that too. I posted her in a Facebook group and a lot of people thought she was mixed with either Brahman or zebu because of her ears. Either way she is a very sweet cow and she’s doing so well. She’s getting some more weight on her and looking so much healthier.
0:35 little chick was like "hey guys I heard there was food I'm on my way!"
I don't know how I ended up here at 2 PM on a Sunday but am glad I watched this, I am now a subscriber!
Thanks for watching and subscribing!

Hey Ludlam Fam were kind of like you and love the idea of 600 chickens, very helpful to understand what that might entail. We also are hoping to document our journey but were from the Chicago suburbs and might even be comical how Green we are. Love the sand box and I think Jamie is going to make some of the beans goulash you suggested anyways jsut wanted to stop by and say hey and good work and she subbed soon as she saw the recipe, looking forward to seeing more soon thanks for sharing. Loving the million dollar mullet wear it proud brother
Out of that mixed batch of chickens you bought from the hatchery, how many of them were roosters?
I think 0, they were all hens. You can find the details page on their video "We ordered 600 chickens for our small farm." at 2:16
If the ground on your land is that swampy, you might consider growing rice to feed your chickens.
Do you have problems with hawks, eagles and falcons preying on your chickens?
Are you aware that you up-speak at the end of most of your sentences, making your statements sound like questions????

This was so informative. Your family is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much!
Nice farm. Loved it. ❤️. How many acres do you guys have to take care of all animals?
Banyak sekali ayam nya bos ku sukses selalu ya.jgn lupa sapa balik ya bos ku..👍👍👍
Y'all should really look into growing your own fodder. Turn 50 lbs of seed into 200 lbs of forage.
It's 2024... Please get a better camera 😝 Love the video btw 👌
You don’t need a 1k camera for youtube
This is a small tip but if you take each one out 1 at a time in front of the food and water tipping there beak into water and putting them down in same area. it can really help them health of the chicks.
lol
Dude upload video with good quality .Only 480 p resolution is available
awesome🍎🍏🍐🍑🍒🥬🍗🍔🥄🔪
Gave me a great idea! I love your pvc pipe set up for water and food. Im thinking i can use capped metal or plastic gutters and drill holes the same way, but ill connect it to the gutters on the coop so itll be rain water instead of having to fill up. Thank you! Im going to check out the rest of your page!
Sounds like a great idea! Let me know how it works for you.
I wanna start keeping chicken but afraid of their health. They get sick too much. How can I stop it?
So lovely ❤❤❤ have you thought of names
We usually name them when they get a little bigger and their feathers start coming in.
nice video
Chickens are so adorable beautiful creatures 🤩
What is your plans for keeping your water from freezing
Are they sexed all female before hand? What do you do if they’re roosters?
i,m for angola and i love this
