Star Wars Holiday Special Cartoon

George Lucas is commonly quoted as saying that if he had the time and a hammer, he would personally “smash” every bootlegged copy of the disastrous "Star Wars Holiday Special." However, fans almost universally agree that the best part of the much-maligned Wookie-centric variety show is the Nelvana-produced cartoon segment, directed by Clive Smith. The cartoon features the voices of the original...

whY would they do this
6:15 Ah, there they are. The Muuns.
Honestly if Nelvana cleaned the animation up a bit and the cast was good with continuing to reprise their rolls consistently then this could’ve been a badass Saturday morning cartoon series in the late 70s. Definitely could’ve acted as a great bridge of events between IV and V.
This movie really had a good moral, Stardom means nothing without real friends or your soul.
Aka the only bit in the entire "movie" that is actually watchable and not pure torture.
Wait a minute, why is Luke here piloting a Y-Wing? What's the purpose?!
This was the only Halloween special that scared the devil out of me as a kid.
4:51 "It's me-- Mylar!"
This gives me serious Space Ghost/Herculoids vibes.
R2 probably doesn't like Boba because he knows exactly who he is and where he is from.
Gostei muito do trabalho que a banda Bauhaus fez com o áudio deste desenho animado, na música Party of the First Part.
It just hit me that BL's contract is void. She's meant to be a star, meaning people are gonna love her and enjoy her. The lady reporter looks like she hates even being there that means she doesn't care and doesn't acknowledge her being a Star. If fact not even Dan seemed to notice at all. This means that unless she's a Star to everyone the contract is voided.
Nelvana entertainment 😃😀😀
Bauhaus brought me here. And watching it aged 8!!! 'My card, pretty lady...... oh, we always use blood, it's more permanent that way!' Burnt into my bones, thanks!
love Rock & Rule! ❤ this is one of the best interview videos ever!
15:01 A big hint at what Nelvana would do later that year... ...and in one of the redeeming things about an infamous television special.
Haha. Good catch!
ESB vhs be sure to check out Boba Fett in his debut in an animated short from the Star Wars holiday special coming up right after the movie
This is from 1996, not 1998
I Absolutely adored this short movie, You can tell alot of heart was put into it!
I declare you free, I declare you free, I declare you free, I declare you free, I declare you free, I declare you free, I declare you free...

It's killing me how softly C-3PO is talking the entire special. He's so calm
this scared me for life, i wish i had never seen it
Trust me pal this ain't shit compared to all the animated horrors I've seen out there over the years!🥶😱💀
i was really young but it was the abandoment of the MC by everyone that also hit home hard@@gionnijohnson408
can you post this in the original aspec ratio not zoomed in please
i Like This! Best Part of The Holiday Special!
I always thought blue harvest was a porn vid. Something abiut some kathleen lady sucking on a space cow tittie. Must be mixing something up.
2:19 my card pretty lady
2:14
idk how but the "we'll meet again, friend" was actually pretty badass for some reason
What language are the cartoon's opening credits printed in and what do they translate to in english?

Still relevant in 2023 🤷🏽♀️! Great cartoon nostalgia
Omigosh! Never saw this. Thanks for posting. 😊
Only thing good about this movie 😊
I didn’t remember the animation being so shitty.
22:05.
Okay, call me a phan, but there are a few snips.... like the girl character on opening night, with the gown and the song, that kinda remind me of Phoenix in Phantom of the Paradise, as well as the multi-adjective description of the movie. Musical horror comedy... Fair is fair, though, Paul Williams was cuter than the devil in this flic. Then again, Swan was only WORKING for the devil. This guy IS the devil. The DEVIL as a MUSIC PRODUCER. Tasty, Daniel. Tasty!
The Whole Holiday Special should have been animated. It would be way shorter, sure (My guess is 45 minutes, but the special's runtime is 2 and a half hours, so that's definitely an improvement) but it would be a ton more memorable. Get all the guest stars they hired (Art Carny, Bea Arthur, Harvey Corman) to voice side characters in it and focus more on developing an in-universe star wars story. They could even animate in that Jefferson Starship song played by the Canteena band or something. Sure, this cartoon is hokey and awkward at times, but it's far better than the absolute torture that was everything else about this special.
I really think some modern cgi animated movies should have been done in drawing. Some just look wayy better that way. Example: Treasure planet was mostly drawing, but they did use some cgi modeling, the difference is it was well placed. could you imagine how ugly the characters might have been in cgi. And i think a lot of movies are making that mistake today
Many Years Before They Did Things For MTV2 (The Adventures Of Tintin; Rupert And Little Bear) Nevada Blessed 1970's Animation Fanatics With A Cosmic Christmas In 1977 And Then This.
8:29 The best part
Any stranger that says "Friend" that many times is not to be trusted. They are either trying to sell you something, or working with the Empire.
Boga feh
I saw this on TV and a few weeks later they showed it to the 1-3rd grade kids in the multi purpose room. I was so excited to see it a second time and told the kid next to me that I just saw it and he snapped back that I was a liar. Good times...
21:33
3:56 boba was right about one thing he doesn’t league for the empire, not anymore.
Many years before they did things for Nick, Jr. (The Adventures of Tintin; Rupert and Little Bear), Nelvana blessed 1970s animation fanatics with A Cosmic Christmas in 1977 and then this.
I love the jello ocean… they should have made that happen
