This is up there with Dylan shit.
The perfect road song.
I was very fortunate to have seen Joe Pug at two different shows about 10 years ago. After the show each time Joe stayed outside and talked to each of the guests and they were as Invested as I was. There is a very natural sense about him. It was like we could talked all night about anything. An incredible experience both times. God bless you Joe Pug. You really touched my life. 👏🙏🙋♀️
Astonishing when he entered my world and has never been anything else. When I have introduced people to Joe Pug it always has the same profound effect that introducing people to John Prine or Bob Dylan has had. Music and poetry that can change lives. These songs help me see the beauty in a riven world. Peace.
I keep coming back…❤
What happened to jow pugg, he was so amazing
j Joe had to come and see her band at kinetic lounge many many years ago and there’s been nothing but respect since then he’s a brilliant musician
It is an incredible song!
Joe is very good but to anyone will ever be the next......the ones that are.....are exactly that because there can be no others, Porsche, there are no substitutes!!
Joe pug top songs
That’s very good
Go west young man Recalculating recalculating go east I don’t know
Awesome..Joe Pug is a gem. I love to listen to him.
"Will you recognise my face, when God's awful grace, strips me of my jacket and my vest, and reveals all the treasure in my chest." For me, this is the most well written song of all time. Wildly underappreciated, but then again I kind of like that about it.
Why aren't there more artists like Joe Pug? Why isn't his name more widely known? Listen to the lyrics. You belittle and hate and malign the kind of person he describes. You don't want someone who's "come to test the timber of my heart" or "get broke, then maybe bum a smoke". You don't want someone who's "come to ask them for a lot". That's a hard friend to satisfy. That's a man or woman of moral integrity. It makes your life hard when a good friend calls you out and rightly so, much less asks that you reciprocate the support they've shown you. Better to marginalize them and let them languish in loneliness and depression and homelessness. Better to find someone with the privilege who won't have a need to ask for so much. The reason there aren't more artists like Joe Pug? You don't respect the human being he might have been if fate had dealt him just a slightly worse hand.
Brother Travis
All I can say is I am very impressed indeed. It’s incredible how much talent there is out there. I’m sure Joe gets a lot of Dylan references but he deserves his own credit. I’m late to the party but I’ll be taking a look at Mr. Pug.
And I’ve come… to watch Joe Pug on UA-cam
Bob Dylan jr.
Really just an impersonation right? Of Dylan?
But I suppose Dylan’s early stuff was an impersonation of Guthrie. So it goes
oddly spot on lmao. Stay safe hope you're well.
Lucky enough to hear Joe sing this to about 100 people at the Ark in A2. Got to spend a minute talking to him after the show. Can’t replicate the experience.
I thought years ago for sure this guy would be the next Bob Dylan ..this song hooked me years ago ..I think we live in such a fast moving plastic world that most folks don't even listen to good music anymore ..just noise ..well I guess that's OK..because it just makes artist like Mr.pug and his songs even more special for us souls that are listening for other searchers..thanks Joe for sharing these beautiful songs that sooth the ones that enjoy that form of medicine..God bless..
Well said Joshua. You too are a poet with your neat words. I think I’ll go see Joe tonight he’s playing right here in my town. ✌️
So true brother!
You cradle a fiddle from time to time per chance, sir?
just found him. algorithms aren't all bad... ''the more i buy, the more i'm bought.'' my new mantra. incredible artist.
Timeless Song and Talent. LOVE JOE'S MUSIC
The more I buy, the more I’m bought. And the more I’m bought the less I cost. Brilliant.
WoW worth waiting for ..........
Yeah I've come to know the wishlist of my father I've come to know the shipwrecks where he wished I've come to wish aloud Among the over-dressed crowd Come to witness now the sinkin of the ship Throwin pennies from the sea top next to it And I've come to roam the forest past the village With a dozen lazy horses and my cart I've come here to get high To do more than just get by I've come to test the timbre of my heart Yeah, I've come to test the timber of my heart And I've come to be untroubled in my seeking And I've come to see that nothing is for naught I've come to reach out blind To reach forward and behind For the more I seek, the more I'm sought Yes, the more I seek, the more I'm sought And I've come to meet the sheriff and his posse To offer him the broadside of my jaw I've come here to get broke And then maybe bum a smoke We'll go drinkin two towns over after all Oh, we'll go drinkin two towns over after all And I've come to meet the legendary takers I've only come to ask them for a lot Oh, they say I come with less Than I should rightfully possess I say the more I buy, the more I'm bought And the more I'm bought the less I cost And I've come to take their servants and their surplus And I've come to take their raincoats and their speed I've come to get my fill To ransack and spill I've come to trade the harvest for the seed Yeah, I've come to trade the harvest for the seed And I've come to know the manger that you sleep in I've come to be the stranger that you keep I've come from down the road And my footsteps never slowed Before we met, I knew we'd meet Yes, before we met, I knew we'd meet And I've come here to ignore your cries and heartaches And I've come to closely listen to you sing I've come here to insist That I leave here with a kiss I've come to say exactly what I mean And I mean so many things And you've come to know me stubborn as a butcher And you've come to know me thankless as a guest So will you recognize my face When God's awful grace It strips me of my jacket and my vest And reveals all the treasure in my chest
Top five of all time for me. Thanks, Joe.
2006 WOW the awkwardness is still here
I have multiple albums by Joe, saw him live at a very small venue several years ago, and have watched this video more times that I can count. It's hard to say which of his songs is my favorite, but this one is sure in contention. I can't recall if I've commented on this yet, but if so it might have been through a different profile. Does anyone know who the first woman is, the one in the red print dress?
This one...just...doesn't...get old.
Still amazing! I knowwwww him!
very deep and spiritual lyrics
For Mckille
Awesome song, any comparable songs as far a quality goes fellas? Got maybe tom waits- cholcate jesus. But I like Jesus 8l
Always looking for good music it can be hard to find and remeber.
@@johnmccatherin5892 How about a bit of Justin Townes Earle? (R.I.P) Joe was a good friend of both him and his dad and toured with both countless times. If you haven't heard him 'Slippin and slidin' 'Wanderin' 'Mamas eyes'..for starters. Just a great catalogue all in all..and he was the kind of guy where live recordings usually kick the pants off the studio versions. Happy searching bud.
@@brazenlilhussy5975 thabkyou for the suggestions, I'm a fan. Gave me some thing to nee to listen to on my birthday. Appreciate it!
The older I get the more I appreciate Joe’s music
This sketch...it's very well written and very well acted! Well done!!!!
Perfection. This song has saved my soul numerous times.
I've come here to watch this video to be just as impressed as I was back in 2008. You're timeless Joe. Thanks for your music.
DADGBe Capo 2
Not quite right. There is no capo actually if you want to play along to the original. He just chucks it somewhere from the 1st to 4th fret in his live performances... In case you need a tutorial on how to play it: ua-cam.com/video/b-WORcfBhjQ/v-deo.html
One of my favorite Joe Pug songs. He really wails like Bob Dylan.
Thanks Joe man, thank you. One of my favoutite artists, an inspiration for my own work. Would love to share a jam and a jar with you. Keep her lit a chara, till the misadventures of man cease.
This is a nostalgic and humorous video for me. I found this video in 2013 or 2014 and the other video named as "The Promise". I just today got a video again from archive and sent to my friends to say the accuracy of our behaviors from the characters in the video
"fuck your bright ideas of tomorrow, today." ,dan'
"Joe Pug was born again for the first time once." ,dan'
Bars for days.
This was one of my favourite songs a long time ago, forgot about it until Nightvale surprised me! Choked on sunflower seeds sillily trying to sing along.
great resolution
#omeletocomedy
Is anyone able to make out the fingerpicking pattern he's using? I've only found one guide online that gives their own variation and it sounds a little off.
There you go, mate. Full on tutorial with explanations on picking ua-cam.com/video/b-WORcfBhjQ/v-deo.html
