    Sorry but opponent is not a 4.0 he can barely hit a backhand and makes too many unforced errors on easy short balls :) MEP is his annoying pusher self hard to play for anyone (Coach Mark)

    • @tamiltennisdiary
      @tamiltennisdiary 9 днів тому

      Yes, opinions vary. He is 4.0 rated by USTA and keeping over 60% wins every year at that level. Ofcourse, this match doesn’t reflect his skill as MEP nullified his serves and backhand slices, buildup nerves high on this short 1 set match.

    If it’s a USTA match, and this was just the first set, why did you play a 10-point tiebreak instead if the normal 7 point tiebreak? Great tennis by the way, better than average 3.5.

    I literally know 70 and 80 year old players that can beat Ben. They hack the ball so badly it makes Ben look like Novak hitting ground strokes. I learned tennis back in the 80s from both hackers, and great players, and the one thing that I learned and use is you have to be patient and have a game plan. Standing at the baseline and letting a pusher, run you around isn’t a very good game plan. People can say whatever they want, but when you hit the court that when you have to back up what you say.

    • @tamiltennisdiary
      @tamiltennisdiary 9 днів тому

      I thought to same. We had similar player who had several wins at 4.5 USTA level. But Ben beat him 6-2 comfortably. So I don’t take anyone’s word unless you have played against him. Did you ever played him?

    No switching sides? 4.0 is losing so much leg drive on the serve by lifting his right leg as he does. Do you really think one leg is stronger than two? If a coach taught you that you need a new coach. If you came up with that move yourself you gotta study service mechanics.

    • @tamiltennisdiary

      Yes, he is self thought player. Definitely serve mechanics needs some corrections.

    Good match. Tamil has better technique than Ashok, but pretty doesn't always win. I like Ashok's 16ft ball toss on serves. He has to dance around to get to his toss. Cut down on his unforced errors and Tamil wins this match.

      What do you mean by that? Do you think they are lower than 3.5 or higher?

    • @djbakasan
      @djbakasan 2 роки тому

      IMO 3.5 seems fair. All 4 exhibit at times very strong shot making ability across all their strokes. All 4 also however would at times make wildly errant shots. That lack of consistency and reliability in their strokes is a good delineation between 3.5 and 4.0. Ratings are all relative to wins vs how good/bad your technique looks though, so obviously everything w/ a grain of salt. If I had to be critical toward anything regarding a 3.5 rating, a couple of the players had particularly slow second serves. Footwork and technique at the net at times was also very dodgy for all 4 if the ball wasn’t coming in straight and at chest level. All in all though, some shaky technique and some lack of consistency is expected at 3.5.
