Frank and tank from the East side great show fellas love hearing you guys talk lions Go Lions
Can he rush from the edge or 5?
I think it would become a trend if we paid our OC bigger $. Obviously the HC would make more but if you can keep an OC like Ben, it would be worth a few million more a year.
100% with you on Scottie Montgomery. Duce leaving opened the spot, and one of the best HC candidates and leaders around quickly jumped on board. What the Lions have going is truly special stuff. 40 years of being a complete laughingstock and all of a sudden now it's THE destination for smart, successful coaches and players.
From a career journalist who is not a casual Lions fan: Thank you gentlemen for this! Can't wait to see more of your high-level, thoughtful takes on the BRAND. NEW. LIONS. 😁 I'm here for all of it!
Great show guys! Ideas for a new show name: - "I See Super Bowl" - Grit Report - Why Not This Year? - Tales from the Beat (you guys being beat reporters for the Lions is definitely an advantage and unique compared to most Lions podcasts) Love the content. Take care.
Thanks, guys. Good vid. Just one note: Nick - she’s Sheila HAMP
Jared Goff sucks, enjoy last place after your lucky flash in the pan one year wonder season. The Packers are going to win the North this year.
The lions suck.
Perineal chokers and losers.
People get too hung up in the why's when it really does not matter. At the end of the day nothing has changed for the Lions or Hooker. Goff is the starting QB to end the season and an established veteran that is performing at or near the top of the league compared to his peers. You do not move on from that for a maybe or what if. By the same token, Hooker is still a young QB with a ton of talent and should he come take the job it will be his. He will get his chances, and when he does he absolutely can capitalize on them to secure a future with the Lions or one of the other 31 teams. The Lions did not waste a pick at all on Hooker. They got a 1st round talent for a 3rd round pick that at worst is a solid backup and at best is the heir apparent. Both things can be true, and Hooker was always going to have to earn it, just like all other rookies do. Did Jamo and Gibbs have it handed to them? No they had to earn it, the same with every other player that Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes have drafted. Nothing has changed. The Lions always wanted it to be this way.
Jerod Goff sucks. He’s never done anything impressive.
Lions suck
@@deacongowan909 He has done more in Detroit in 3 years than Matthew Stafford did in many more. Stafford tapped out, he knew he was not good enough to make the Lions a winner. But Goff came in here and did just that. Broke a 30 year playoff drought and the longest playoff losing streak in the NFL. Stafford could not do that. In fact, I would argue that had the Rams not been toxic to Goff he could have that ring instead of Stafford. However, that will not matter pretty soon. Stafford and the Rams got their ring sure, btu Jarred and the Lions will get two!
Big fan of your work guys. Nice to hear people talk honestly about the lions. Keep it up!
appreciate you, Craig!
Jared Goff is the ONLY QB in NFL history to throw for over 30,000 yards and have under 100 INTS. I'll repeat Jared Goff is the ONLY QB in NFL history to throw for over 30,000 yards and have under 100 INTS. Goff is elite, always has been.
Elite? He’s never won a super bowl. He’s never done anything important or impressive. He’s a bust. He got put on a team that carried him and was dominated in the only Super Bowl he ever sniffed and will ever sniff because Detroit will never go to a super bowl. The last time the kittens went to the NFC Championships it was 30+ years in between their 41-10 blowout and this year’s choke job and it’ll be another 30+ years before they get to another championship game they’ll lose.
That’s crazy especially given Aaron Rodgers typically has low INT numbers.
That sounds impressive until you see the list of QB's that are about to join him this year. The NFL changing the rules to favor the offense and play patty cake with the QB instead of football has made stats like this meaningless, it will be the new norm soon enough and plenty of average QB's will be able to say they did this.
Jared Goff got the largest signing bonus in history yet he's less than $30 MIL against the cap. Win-win for everyone. Goff is over $300 MIL in contracts and he's still in his twenties.
He’s never won a super bowl. He’s never done anything important or impressive. He’s a bust. He got put on a team that carried him and was dominated in the only Super Bowl he ever sniffed and will ever sniff because Detroit will never go to a super bowl. It really is a team friendly contract. The true cap hit will be very manageable. When it grows in ‘26 they can restructure the deal. Also they staggered the cap hits between their big three signings. 😊 😊😊
Great pod
Don't you think you could get a 1st round pick for Hendon Hooker from a desperate team? I feel he is going to be really good! Go Lions!!!!!
good show. go lions!
Jeff Hartings is an example of the Lions letting a home grown talent leave
When I first saw the contract I was like Holy Crap!!! Then I said he deserves it plus this contract will be ancient in 6 months if ya know what I mean
Frank the tank good show fellas 😎 Go Lions 💪
Keeps working? My good sir, they just had the first positive season in like 3 generations of humanity.
Have needed another DT that can rush the passer like Wingo. Very excited for this pick
You wont hear anything about him for a few years. Detroit worked him out a lot so they know or should and I trust them. Its a 4th rd pick some will hit some won't.
watching this film, I don't like this pick one bit. Sorsdal played well his first season considering how late of a pick he was and I think he will improve this year. If this guy sucks though send him the Pistons, they are crap anyways. He would probably improve the pistons.
I don’t believe he gave the Eagles a 3rd, did they swap a 3rd to them but got a 4th coming back? Important full context
New Lion cast ..shoes off subscription activated 😎
welcome!
Good stuff
Dude… discount West Coast Sanristill with RB/spec teams upside sounds AWESOME
❤
Arnold is the best CB we have drafted since Dre Bly. LFG.
Bly was drafted by the Rams. Slay was absolutely fantastic for us. The thing about corner is that physical tools are a huge part of success at the position. Exceptions exist, some dominant corners run 4.5, but when you look at who is a “bust” in the first round, it’s nearly always corners running 4.5 or slower.
Thanks for the content - love this pod
Great stuff!! Well reasoned explanations and genuine journalism. Keep it up guys.
Awesome pod
He said in his interviews they want to put him at guard next to Peni.
He’s wayyyy too tall for G. He’s a LT or RT. This was the only thing I hated from Holmes. I don’t see trading up for a complete project. I think he’d have been there in 5th or 6th
Great episode
We've Arrived
You guys need to rename your podcast to " This Year"!!!!!
Frank the tank from the East side you guys are awesome podcast Go Lions 😎
Great pod guys but little thing… maybe change the intro music to where it fades out as you guys begin talking. It’s been hard to hear you guys give introductions and talk for the first couple minutes. No biggy, but it would definitely help make it better IMO!
this was def Nick's fault lol will double check next time!
@@OneOfTheseYearsDetroit heck yeah! Been reading/listening to Nick since the MLive days. Glad to have Colton here on the beat too!!
That intro music is the best in the game.. went a little long but I'll take it. I love that track
Great show guys. Appreciate the thoughtful content.
I love your content. You are two of my favorites. One bone of contention. Nick,…….. well Colton just said it….. Manu had like 11-13 NFL teams at his work out. He had a team mate that the teams came to observe and Manu stole the show. You two balance one another very well. #OnePride #RollPride #SuperBowlorBust
You guys are the best!!!!!!! Go Lions!🦁
I like that both these dudes if they develop properly can be complimentary. That made the double CB move feel strong. Im pretty sure before the draft only Steven Gilmore was under contract lol
He actually logged much faster on the gps. He ran a 4.5 with a pulled groin. I think hes fast, around 4.35
He said in an interview he expected to run low 4.3 before the combine, but his higher time could be attributed to injuries. The biggest knock on him is that his body hasn’t held up with his playstyle. Speed likely won’t be a huge concern.
Holmes remade the secondary in one off-season, which was arguably our weakest position. 💯👍🏾👍🏾 #OnePride 🦁
This IS the year! Enjoy it!
Second best name in the draft
CB room 4-5 deep if Moseley can come back healthy. Amik and Davis have swag as well as Arnold and Rakestraw - love the CB room!
Nobody cares about swag. We need them to cover WRs. Swag doesn’t win games.
@@bobby_D swag does matter for CBs it means they are mentally confident which CBs have to be. Mental makeup is huge for a CB. Which means they will be good at covering
Rakestraw's poor combine 40 may have been due to groin and core issues for which he had a later surgery. I'm more interested in his pro day numbers than the underwear Olympics. I haven't checked out his wingspan but I see him as a L'Jarius Sneed type.
Definitely too much stock in underwear Olympics. Have seen many players stock high bc of a 40 times and bust.
