This is the worst performing section of the game I have seen by far after about 20 hours of gameplay. Once I got into the open world I was averaging 45fps with XeSS, FSR3, and dynamic resolution turned on. Dungeons are touching 60fps at times. Overall I'd say Forbidden West is extremely playable on the deck with acceptable sacrifice to visual clarity.

the game uses ray tracing shadows by default even in low preset just like on ps5

I would have bought it day one if they managed to make it feel good on deck (locked 30 would have been ok). Sad to see that the pc port is again not that good

weird...my steam deck is running it at max settings and getting around 90FPS.... ....when I stream it from my desktop lol

Before I owned a Steam Deck, I played through the entire The Witcher 3 and both DLCs on a Switch lite and it was the most fulfilling gaming experience of my life. And it proved for me, I am 100% a handheld gamer. FF XVI on Steam Deck looks like Witcher 3 on Switch. This will be awesome.🥳

I'm convinced the Steam Deck's frame counter doesn't work well with this game cause when I played it gameplay felt a lot smoother than the 23-27 or so fps it was saying I was getting. It felt nowhere near 60fps mind you but it felt way more playable than 23-27. Either way though, not how I'd recommend to play this.

It looks like a switch port of a ps4 game. As a former switch gamer, I’m okay with this terrible performance in exchange of playing it portably. Can’t wait for SD2 tho!

I don’t know why people still think they can expect to play new AAA titles on steam deck at anything other than lowest settings and complain about not getting 50+fps.

I downloaded it and it was rough. The fight between Phoenix and Ifrit in the beginning was choppy and ugly.

Image clarity has been the bane of many games on the Deck this year.

Honestly this is crazy it runs at all considering this is supposed to be a ps5 showcase and sqaure enix was trying to say it wouldn't run on xbox.

From my own testing I don't see this working on deck unfortunately... Works great on my pc though.

How did you get the controls to work?! I have this installed on my deck and it won’t let me move my Mech at all! It shows that the inputs are being picked up but there is no movement of my character at all! Any suggestions?

PSA videois kinda useless. I had to get decky from their site not the browser that he got. Then in settings had to mess around to see preview available. Steam update channel has to be set to stable or else the plugin menu will disappear. Then when i open decky from the plugin menu....nonsteamlauncher isnt even listed. Waste of time.

Okay so this is for games. Not for when the controller isnt working at all. Thumbs down.
