Metallica - Ride the Lightning (Gothenburg 1987.02.13)

A bootleg from 1987 of Metallica with Jason Newsted having newly joined. Sound quality has been upped from the full bootleg of this show that is/was floating around, onto a soundboard recording. Video quality is pretty good and the audio is great, James voice is amazing!
Anthraxuggah
Sounds like a cannibal corpse riff
<3 <3 <3experimental absolute metal math
This is something you don't see anymore. Jens playing guitar with Fredrik singing.
imagine a non meshuggah having this as their only impression of meshuggah, no obzen no nothing just thrash. very different
2:37 godfathers of “djent”
It be sweet if Fredrick Thordenal did more vocals today. His voice was massive. Very similar to Jens
But who's singing is Jens 😂
What's the memeber line-up ? Is that Fredrick Thordenal on lead vocals/ 7 string guitar? And looks like Jens with the flying V
Jens on lead vocals and guitar, Thomas Haake on drums, Peter Nordin on bass, fredrik on guitar too, and i think Mårten was alredy in the band
what the actual... how have I never seen this?
This is my favorite. Thank you very much 👍
Abnegating cecity and qualms of reality were included tracks on the "death is just the beginning 2" compilation. First i was like "whats death metal about this?".after 10 seconds of q.o.r. i was like "shit, this is just genius".took some time to find out what abnegating cecity means, back then-the compilation included even the video of it. killer tracks, killer album!
year?
1991

Hahahaha Jens hairfield and the run away from the mic hahahaha
1.579!!!!!!!
I remember when this was on the original death is just the beginning compilation and my parents almost sent it back because of this video.
They kind of sound like Prong, just more tech/prog styled.
That Sound... give me more
The guitar solos are Holdsworthy
Imma let you finish, but, Contradictions Collapse is the greatest thrash metal album of all time!
Contradictions collapse my favourite from them
meshuggah vocalist voice mixed james hetfield voice...
Jens had hair......
Godly sound of snare drum
Uno de los primeros videos que fueron publicados en UA-cam
Death is just the beggining compilation included. Nuclear Blast
Still my favourite meshugga song to this day
I love Tomas with the clenched teeth playing for the camera. How very Lars Ulrich of him...hahahaha
Except good
@@maximummatt73lmao
the title means Rejecting Blindness for anyone who isn't an English professor amazing fuckin track, these guys were waaay ahead of their time. Also, seeing Jens with hair and playing guitar while Fredrick is doing lead vocals is too much. this video is an absolute treasure
their first album is the hardest heavy metal ive ever heard
lol i love how their line up was fucked up! rhythm guitarist drops guitar and sings....lead guitarist drops vocals and they hire an extra new guitarist!
3:20 is so groovily weird. I love it!
Sounds like some lost song from "...And justice for all"
On the low, CC kicks the nuts off Justice
*YESSSS!*🤘
RIP Thomas Walsh love you brother
Who? I don’t mean any disrespect, but who are you talking about?
@@thomasm3100 my buddy who died
Tandjent forum brought me here! 🤘🤗🤘
Love you Thomas rest in paradise. I'll never touch that shit again.
what?
Is haake on drums?
Yes
Sick.
What’s the effect on that guitar lead at about 20 seconds in? It sounds cool
Bestial Devastator Nothing, just a volume fade.
Thats not tomas in the drums.
Yes it is.
God...l really miss this song..
Jens on lead??? Freaking shredding too. Lol
Fredrik on vocals
That is definitely Jens playing and singing. He's playing a black and green Steve Vai signature Ibanez. You can see this guitar again about 10 years later in the Rational Gaze music video where Jens pretends to be the rest of the band.
2:36 damn that part is good
So groovy
They used 6 string guitars?!?!?!
7 strings were difficult to find back then and rather uncommon. Even after Korn got popular, they were still difficult to find, as it was basically the used Jems still floating around. The world of guitar looked much different in the early 90s. You didn’t start to see them regularly in guitar stores until the very late 90s.
4:53 lolololol.
4:25 lmao.
Who did the vocals on this album? Jens or Thorendal?
Jens (the guy with the 7 string Ibanez and long blond hair) but I'm more interested in who played the leads. In the video it's obviously Jens, which is kinda strange cause Fredrik is the Holdsworthian in the band or so I thought. I'd be shocked if it was Jens who came up with the solo work lol. EDIT: I just saw a video of Meshuggah playing live in 1991 and it actually seems that the guy with the 7 string Universe is Fredrik. It would make much more sense for the solos, but doing lead vocals.. it sounds like Jens still?! Maybe it's for the video, don't know man.
They both did, this is fredrik playing the ibanez and singing
