ART ALONG THE RIVER - The Artists of Frogtown
Art Along the River, directed by Eric Villicana, takes a look at some of the artists living and working in the creative enclave of Frogtown. For over 50 years, this sliver of a neighborhood couched between Silver Lake, the 5 Freeway and the LA River has attracted artists and craftspeople. We were curious as to "why." So, we asked artists and residents alike "what is it about this place that attracted you and what makes you stay."

Omg this version is so amazing! You are so inspirational to me. Could you please make a guitar tutorial video?
This man is a great man and was my art teacher in Cathedral High School. Class of '90. Miss you Nowlin. Javier Navarro Jr.
I have number 8 of the one shown in the video that he demonstrates. I am enjoy 4 other etching prints of his every time I look at them.
Love this song!
Looks beautifully tasty.
My cousins always go there at night and day with me
Awesome
Great meeting you in Hawaii buddy hope all is well
I was watching an episode Beverly Hills 130 or whatever it's called, just Michele Philips of Mama's and Papa's & Knots landing. Plus John Denmore of all people appeared on the show.
Art is the intersection where we commune with God: u need not any guru; no hero to hold ur hand, nor any deep pockets to find soft asylum; our private ceremonies, painters in closets... our secret machines.
Where in LA is Frogtown?
cool method of interview.... there is a visual poetic view in this too landscape wise. couldnt but help think of morrison w/ the to & fro pulse & sound of the winding concrete hiway in the background. yet, right underneath the shallow creek & rockbed hinting back to the eternal. something morrison's eye love to note & contrast.
I am totally in love with your Bread and Butter Pickles, and I use them, in making my Polish Vegie Salad. I used to get them, in the German Deli, near me, I was told that your company in Germany, is closing,..I hope that it isn't true,..I couldn't live with out your pickles , they are delicious,..!
This was beautiful, are they having it again this year? I would love to attend.
Yes, we are doing it again on September 23, 2023!
Good job young man . As a Latino I saw it in the streets of Chile some people use to put on a show awesome 👏.
Que chido 👍👍✌️🫡
Still searching high and low
Ese inicio con Alfonsina y el mar. Impecable.
Gracias!
Frogtown is a very unique area and looks like a nice neighborhood with cool pubs and coffeeshops along the river. Not the easiest neighborhood to find unless you regularly jog down the river.
John, not only the great drummer for the incredible doors, also passionate intelligent man, keep always seeking John
I agree also too. All these Entainers are no fools. They're very intelligent people.
Nice work with El Triste maybe someday you'll get invited to perform for the Chicano enthusiasts in Japan. Órale.

Mr. Nowlin was my art and advanced painting teacher at Cathedral High School over 30 years ago. He was instrumental in furthering my appreciation and joy of art and jazz. My son Ezra is now a blossoming artist and loves watching Mr. Nowlin talk about his art perspectives and insight. Just wanted to say thank you for sharing wisdom and knowledge.
Wow! That's a pretty great. We love Mr. Nowlin and his wonderful art. Thanks for your comment.
It's cool to see that Densmore still has his percussion instincts firmly intact. Ty, for this vid. 'Pretty good, pretty neat' 😎👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
I dig both these fellas immensely.
We're soon going to start losing a lot of these 60s musicians to the abyss of endless time. What a treasure this is.
It's sad isn't it? Time waits for no man. We have to enjoy these greats while we can.
This statement needs a lot more likes.
❤️
👍🏼❤ IT!!!
I love your work, congrats!!
Oh shit I didn’t know you were the puppeteer in the music video. Nice man!
Nolan was my Art Teacher in 10th grade at Cathedral H.S. in L.A. 95-96. He was hella cool with Raza and he taught us alot. Glad 2c him doing well.
Wonderful song , so heart warming , I discovered you on Resident Alien !
Love my favorite drummer, from my favorite band the Doors, dear John Densmore!
Che, the sax it's playing, alfonsina y el mar?.
Yes!
But who is the vato la Smiley took off with? if you only have two marrinettes ( how ever you spell that) huh? What inspires you in life??, EVERYTHING!!!!
And don't forget mejo! Our people built those monuments globally. The step pyramid in the Yucatan has a secret I learned simply because were related to those people who made them. The one that has two snakes that light up once a year , equinox or something. The object was not to walk up the steps , the object of the whole pyramid was to walk down the steps. I walked down the steps , and how i know , there is an anomaly at the bottom.
I recognized the puppet from Los Yesterday’s music video good stuff
Andre 13cientos
Why do you got mexican music in the background. Smh
Lol.. that ain’t Mexican music
