Hi, I’m Rahle Dusheiko and I am an Iyengar yoga teacher and wellbeing guide. Bija Journey is a channel committed to making yoga accessible to EVERYBODY - seriously, every actual body! On this channel, you will find safe ways to practise yoga according to what your body needs. Whether you have been doing yoga for decades or just starting out - there will be something here for you! I’ll be sharing yoga sequences, deep dives into poses and anatomy and how yoga can help you stretch, strengthen and mobilise your body. @Bijajourney is also your UA-cam home for wellbeing wisdom and insights into how you can find a deeper connection with yourself to live a life with more awareness based on science and the ancient wisdom of yoga philosophy.
3 Ways to do Downward Facing Dog
Downward Facing Dog, or Adho Mukha Svanasana, is a staple in most yoga classes and offers a ton of benefits. This pose strengthens your wrists, arms, and shoulders, improves shoulder mobility, lengthens your spine and hamstrings, and even reduces stiffness in your ankles and heels. Plus, it's a great way to reduce fatigue and boost your energy.
But what if you have a shoulder issue, or trouble putting weight on your hand or wrists? Or what if you have really tight hamstrings?
In this video I will explore three different ways that you can do Downward Facing Dog.
I’ll show you 3 different ways to do Downward Facing Dog -
1. At a wall - which is a great non-weight bearing option and also easier on tight hamstrings
2. Using a chair - which has some weight in the arms and is a good, safe option too for any shoulder or wrist issues.
3. Using a wrist support - which reduces the angle between the wrist and the arm, this is helpful is your wrists are a little stiff.
If you struggle with wrist pain, shoulder issues, or tight hamstrings, these alternative Downward Dog options are perfect for you.

Your grasp of technique, and the easy way in which you describe what to do - where to release etc. - makes it so easy to follow. Thank you! I really enjoy your style and am already looking forward to more videos! I felt calmer and more relaxed following this practice today.
Thanks for your positive feedback and watching! So good to hear you felt better afterwards! There's more on the way.
I really like plants and glowing lights, but can I suggest to put some picture on the wall behind? Probably not the steampank birds, but something culm :)
Thanks for your ideas.
Thanks. I hope I did everything correctly :)
As long as you felt good, I’m sure you did great!! Thanks for watching.
