Our Italian Hiking Adventure: The Journey to the castle of Rocca Calascio

Abruzzo, Italy is known for its green spaces and its Nature preserves. It’s actually the “greenest area” in all of Italy. So, it just makes sense that, while visiting, my sister and I would attempt a hike! We chose the hike up to Rocca Calascio-a 10th century medieval castle at the top of a mountain- and ended up hiking to the top to the town Castel Del Monte instead (more on that later☺️) but ...

@@travelinginspanglish It's a very common name in that region. It should be spelled Di Lello or De Lellis. Ours got changed in the immigration process in 1880 at Ellis Island, that happens a lot. My great grandfather, born in Colledimezzo had the same name, both first and last as Saint Camillus De Lellis, Patron Saint of Doctors and Nurses, who was born three hundred years before and only 25 miles north of Colledimezzo in Buchanico. My great grandfather's name was Camillo Di Lello. The Saint's name is the same only Latinized as an indication of social status. That's how they did things in those days. History lives in our DNA.

With all due respect, what I said was my opinion. You werent there and have no idea of the stench, the mold, the insect infestation…. Everything was ruined. The lady who owned the home hadn’t really used it in 3 years and it was in very poor shape. Trust me. Now, another thing to note is that standards are subjective. It wasn’t to the standards that I wanted and I changed it. As simple as that. I love it. Now, it’s much better. And my guests agree, so do the villagers who saw it in its previous state. Thanks for watching.

I have fallen in love with your channel. We are looking to purchase a house in Italy in the near future and your video was very nice, thanks for sharing your experiences and your transparency throughout the process of owning a property overseas with their ups and downs. Big hugs from NH

Hi Josie! Great video's on your Casa Querencia. Did you and your husband do all the renovating? Or did you find someone local to do the work! I'm asking because I can't seem to find anyone worthy, to do renovating in Villa S Maria area.

Hey there! Thanks so much! We did do some of the renovation- 60% of it. The rest we hired out! Portfilio construction in Colledimezzo- is amazing! Ask for Vincenzo- he and his crew are terrific!

Love Cantina Di Biffi! We were there in 2021 when we went on a house shopping trip to Abruzzo!
