Malfunction
I started on this project last year, but I didn't finish it before I got my Moog DFAM a week ago! I felt like something was missing, but then I added a DFAM layer in the background.
------
I have NO IDEA what happened here... But I think i used my qu-bit surface with my moog grandmother, put my gm on hold on a simple arp and went crazy with the filters. (I "replaced" the grandmother oscillators with qu-bit surface if i remember correctly). I've added some neutron 4 eq and valhalla room on the tracks. Mastered in ozone 11.
This project consist of two tracks only. One improvised, and two takes with the moog dfam.

It's been a long time since i've posted anything on this channel. Here's a new project! I've tried to experiment with different kinds of genres lately. This is really outside my comfort zone haha. Some of the instruments and plugins used: Moog grandmother, qu-bit surface, erica synths pico dsp, custom perc samples, valhalla room & shimmer. Mastered by audun grønnestad.

An experiment with SOMA Lyra-8 with Microcosm, additional synths, and some processing. This is a collaboration between me and Brian Matthews. I composed the melody on my Lyra, and he did the processing and additional sounds. Effects used: Hologram Electronics Microcosm Valhalla Delay Mix, master, and picture by Brian Matthews.

Moog Grandmother, Valhalla Shimmer and Hologram Electronics Microcosm. I used the looper and a micro loop preset (mosaic). The first half of the song is one take of moog grandmother with microcosm and valhalla shimmer. I added a bass drone from (Spitfire Audio) Aperture the Stack and a piano with delay on the second half.

I got a field recorder for christmas this year. The past few days I've been recording anything from the dishwasher to hitting a glass with a chop stick. In this song I used a recording of the dishwasher combined with the sound from a door handle. Then I did a lot of processing to make the pad in this song and added piano and strings :) Image from Pexels

It's good to hear you back, and with a dark tune for sure! The distortion is very cool, It sounds like your using a square wave form modulated with pink noise?

Hi! :) Sorry for the late response. I can't remember 100 % of what i did (i'm always just in the zone while composing, experimenting with different kinds of sounds and just see what happens haha). But here's a quick recap from the track/cubase project: This track is a mix of different moog grandmother tracks and a track with qu-bit surface sond instead of grandmother's osc :) On most of the different tracks i played around with filters. (If i remember correctly, i patched high pass --> noise in and mixer out --> high pass in and experimented with turning the high pass filter-knob :) On at least one of the tracks, i sent the gm through erica synths pico vst and just turned the knobs while droning the gm :) I think i used the saturated reverb-algorithm most of the time. I'm using valhalla room on some of the tracks. I used neutron 4 eq. There's a some very processed tracks from spitfire audio labs and other vst's. This track is mastered with ssl origin (not by me). And btw, I'll send you an email soon :)

I've just ordered my Terra. I'm so excited! It looks and sounds totally unique - I hope you will do a few more sound demos of it over the coming months. I found this video because I was searching for Terra demos, but I've just listened to all of the other tracks on your channel and, I have to say, they are all amazing! I've subscribed and will be looking forward to your next upload. 🙂

Last year, I was researching Synthesizer Demos on UA-cam and came across some really cool electronic music by Mariell Gronnestad. We got into correspondence and the result was this collaboration. The title, Ex Mari, is Latin for "It Came From The Sea". It is also a play on words, as the collaboration began with Mariell sending me an improvisation on an instrument called the Lyra 8. As "Mari" is a viable diminutive for Mariell, it could equally mean "It came from Mariell". At just over two minutes long I wanted to lengthen the piece. I imported it into Logic Pro X software, and started experimenting. Because it was so ethereal, I found that it could be played backwards without it sounding like it was being played backwards, if that makes sense. I then put the backwards and forwards versions together and remixed them, with my own added overdubs. This is the result, and it is the first time that a music project that I have been involved in has been published online. It has been a real pleasure to work with Mariell and I hope that there will be more opportunities to collaborate and create music together.

Great sounds with the Grandmother! I am still a novice but have managed sounds that mimic four oscillators, it is an exciting tool that needs a different approach to the Minitaur, which is more well behaved Ha Ha!

I keep coming back to this, I swear it's my favourite You Tube clip. I have bought a Moog Grandmother and Valhalla Shimmer, not as a result of but definitely influenced by Aftermath. I mostly compose with the Roland V Synth GT but this offers something different. It sounds so bleak and beautiful. I create sounds with Bird Song and running water, living in this Welsh Mountains - but I am transfixed by this. Mariell, you have created something very special here.

I can't comprehend why they make mono synths..I literally can't see the logic... I tried this one in a shop, and it sounds cool.. but it's mono.. Might be better off with a cheaper poly-synth (not dual) and a decent pre-amp..
