Thanks a lot for the review! Are you still happy with the Tex-Lock? Would you still go for the 160cm or opt for the 120cm instead? Thanks a lot !
Great to have papaya growing in your backyard!
Absolutely I’m super thankful!
@@Floridamanfoodforest Happy papaya eating!
@@PlasBachGarden thanks I subbed to your channel, stoked to watch your content fellow gardener!
Hey brother, I’m trying to find that place right now up north from up north. I just want to be able to go fishing. Any chance you can give me an address that will get me close enough to be able to get there to go fishing

I really have to add more fruit trees, I'd really love to try passion fruit but I don't know that it will survive the frosts we have in Marion Co.
The native maypop does really well here, comes back after a frost. I expect the passion fruit will do the same
Your garden is growing well. Here we are at the start of a few better days in terms of sunshine. So I am looking forward to see what it does with my garden. Soon I will have a very cool new tool, can't say what yet, but I will upload an update about that for sure as soon as it arrives. 👍
That’s exciting! Looking forward to the update!
Beautiful bounty of growing fruit trees 🌱🌳🥭🫐 looks like they're rly thriving there 🥰 Genuinely inspiring, Thank you for sharing! 🙏 Much Love & Many Blessings to your food forest 🫶🌱🌳☀️✨️
Thank you! Looking forward to sharing fruit with my family and friends. Before long there will be many trees fruiting! 👨🌾💛

Looks like a lovely spot!
It really is! The by product of allowing a space to remain wild surrounded by residential neighborhoods promotes a concentrated of plant species, some more invasive but also a lot of fruit trees! Really a great place to observe.
Yeah

Mosquito larvae need to be able to breath air from the surface. If they can't reach the surface they can't survive. That is why they like standing water so much, because in moving water the mosquito larvae are not strong enough to swim to the surface. So in combination with the fish and the tadpoles the mosquito larvae that do get born in the water get eaten immediately. With the floating vegetation they will have more trouble with finding a spot to breath air, and that makes them an easy target for the fish and tadpoles at the few spots where they can breath air. Also mosquito larvae dive down in the water if they see any movement above them, or when they sense a shock in the water.
It’s fun to observe this exact process! The mosquito fish are very effective at eating any larvae. The tadpoles weren’t something I was really expecting but am thrilled to provide the habitat for them.
@@Floridamanfoodforest Some amphibians can detect the DNA from predator fish, and then they do not reproduce in that water.I have never seen tadpoles in my pond, but I do have a frog living in my pond. I once had tadpoles in a small preformed plastic pond that stood next to my pond for a while. It was filled with rainwater, and it had no fish.
Beautiful 👍

@@Floridamanfoodforest I am on the Ocklawaha
@brucewelty7684 I live about 5 mins from the ocklawaha I visit there often.
Glad that you can still enjoy the rain. Right now we have 10 to 12 hour long rain showers per day, and last night the temperature dropped to 49F. I can barely believe what is happening. We are back at the same temperatures that we had in April nearly 3 months ago. Only now we are in the middle of the summer and it should be twice as warm. And it is going to stay like this at least until the end of next week. So far we had a maximum of 4 consecutive days with nice weather. But each couple of days with nice weather is followed by weeks of rain and unusual cold temperatures. I am sooooo tired of it.
I could only imagine of those temperature swings wow! Here in our summer temperatures a fairly consistent for the next few months!
@@Floridamanfoodforest Last year we also had these cold waves, but it was more like 7 days cold followed by 7 days of warmer weather. And the temperatures became more normal for the time of the year much sooner in the season. Now the cold waves are much more dominant as the warmer weather, with exceptional amounts of rain, and the cold waves with the rain keep happening much deeper into the summer season. Right now we have a rare moment with some sunshine although there are still plenty clouds in the sky. But the temperature is only 69F in the full sun. And the night temperatures keep hovering between 50F and 60F. So everything that does grow is growing very slow. On a positive note, my seedlings are still doing well despite the rain. My pond is doing much better because I learned a lot more about how and when to add the minerals to my pond to keep everything healthy and without stunning my plants too much. And my box tree is starting to turn green again after it was completely eaten by caterpillars.
Do you put lime onntour graas
Nope I don’t use any amendments
Does it grow in Central florida, i saw home depot selling plums trees

Whats the name of the pepper?

Sorry to hear about the burning neighbor. I am always worried that people use pesticides or herbicides near my aquaponics system. That is the downside of living with neighbors. I also have a neighbor who used to use vinegar to kill the weeds. It is illegal but she did it anyway. Also killing the hedge between our driveways. And I called the city authorities about the issue, and they refused to do something about it. Despite the fact that I have a federal government report about the damage caused by vinegar as a weed killer, and why it is illegal by law. It was a sad sight. Now I gave her an electric weed killer, and I cleaned her driveway with my pressure washer just so that she doesn't use vinegar. I wonder what next year all those seeds are going to do that I have sown and that did not germinate this year.
Certain neighborhoods have rules about burning trash but our local community doesn’t have any rules. Sad thing is is there’s a recycling enter right down the road! And it’s free to drop off your trash there.
It is looking good. The rain did your garden well. I have an update about the seeds in my new pots. It is going well. A man from the UK from a channel called Leave Curious is starting an initiative to create 23 million ponds in the UK, just as many gardens as there are in the UK. It doesn't have to be a big fancy pond. One or a couple of tubs like you have would already make a big difference for nature if there are 23 million of those all across the country. So you are setting the trend!! That would also be a nice idea for the US. Ambitious, but any increase in number of ponds is a success. 👍
Oh cool! I will check it out. Thats a great idea I’ll have a look at his channel. I agree I think If more people understood how easy it can be depending on environment to create mini wildlife ponds more would give it a go for sure.
By the time I see it I'm already dead.

Yes…correct with the full sun. You can also use shade cloth(don’t let it touch the fig tree though). Also, get the pots well up off of the soil. Nematodes are a major problem for Florida fig growers.
Thanks for the tips!

Those couple degrees of lower temperatures in the forest can make the difference between bearable or unbearable. 👍
Absolutely not filmed was the hour ride back along a road in the sun, haha was really wishing I was back in the forest.
@@Floridamanfoodforest Yeah I remember the hot days that I had to bicycle home from school. Not great. The road makes it that much hotter as well. Don't tell anyone, but today I couldn't help myself. After my successful seed germination in the tray and balcony planter, and now that the weather finally gets a bit warmer, I decided to buy more planters, pots, plants, and seeds. The plants were at a heavy discount so I could not let that deal go. I suppose that I should act as if the spring has just started here for us in Holland, at least the weather is like that. If Tuna wants flowers, Tuna will get flowers !!!💪 hahaha
@@insAneTunA hahah! I understand, when I come across a good deal on a fruit tree I cant pass it up!

Personally I think that you can't have enough tools. Jesus was a carpenter, and I bet that he used the most advanced tools from that time as well. Tools make things possible within a reasonable amount of time. With tools you can also help other people. For example last month I cleaned the driveway from my older neighbor with my pressure washer, and I have cut her side from the hedge with my electric hedge cutter. And last weekend I gave her a handy electric weed burner so that she can safely remove the weeds from her paved garden area by herself without having to bend over and without using chemicals and without having to depend on others to do it for her. And she was very happy with all of it, and she already used the electric weed burner, and now it is looking much nicer. And she loves it the most that she doesn't have to ask other people anymore to do it for her. But I do understand it you when you say that some channels take their advertisements a bridge too far. I have had the same experience with one channel in particular, which used to be a very fun and original DIY channel, but now almost all the videos are nothing else but advertisements about desks and fans and airfryers. So I unsubscribed from that channel. For some tools I have a higher standard as for others. It doesn't always need to be the best and most expensive tool. At the same time the cheapest tools are often complete rubbish, and hard to use, inaccurate, or not durable enough to be called a useful tool. My miter saw was a little more expensive compared to a smaller version with less options, but it does give me a lot more versatility, which has already proven to be useful. But I also have a small and simple circular saw because I did not need to have all those extra functions that come with the expensive versions. And my pressure washer does not have the highest pressure, because I do not have to clean barnacles from the bottom of a ship, so I do not need the highest possible pressure. But I do understand the message from your video. And to some extend that most certainly makes sense. It is one thing if you want to share information because something is really good or because you want to prevent that people buy something that is complete rubbish. And it is another thing when people only advertise stuff that is very often totally unrelated to the main subjects from the channel, because it is only good for their own wallet. Big 👍
I agree! You can never have too many useful tools, I think the key especially for me is a tool that I use and use often pertaining to what I would use it for. Here in my area there is quite a few shops that provide quality tools for rent at a reasonable price. Sharing tools is awesome
@@Floridamanfoodforest Yeah sometimes it makes more sense to rent. But if you ever have the opportunity, buy a miter saw, it is sooooooo handy. You can use reclaimed wood and build rabbit enclosures, cabinets, fences, window frames, picture frames, shelves, planters, bird and bat houses, and so on. In fact you could even earn the saw back if you sell what you made from reclaimed wood. The saw makes it easy and fast and fun to do. And you get a better finished project result. And people are willing to pay an honest buck for all the items that I just mentioned. I see birdhouses in the store and they are not afraid to ask 30 or 40 dollar (converted) and then I have to laugh because I can make it myself for the price of a couple of screws or nails. And in those stores they get sold like crazy.
