Thank you SO much for posting this. I come back to it every time I have to put the foot on. 😊❤
Brilliant, thank you!!
You're very welcome!
THANK YOU! They don't show you how this is attached in the manual and I was afraid I'd break it. Thank you so much!
Glad I could help! Your very welcome
What about the tension dial?
Thanks for the comments -the information about the bobbin case and thevbottom tension is mentioned - and also when you come wind thread onto a bobbin you can see that tension is needed to do this and is described in the video The machine will have been set as a normal tensions across all the tension areas. However if you have a look at another video we have done - it might help you a little It is for the Bernette B35 machine showing mainly free motion but we talk about tensions aswell - yet that machine is similar to the janome 423s for purposes of tensions and attaching the free motion foot so do take a look at that hope it helps. Here’s is the link if that helps. - tensions are discussed nearer the end of this video - it will help you when you want to do free motion sewing ua-cam.com/video/ufWUunO4dz8/v-deo.htmlsi=EBH3vQhZLUzD6hu8
Thank you, finally! after I viewed so many videos showing how to use the guide bar, but you showed me how to get to see how to install the guide bar 👍
Glad you found it helpful - happy stitching -
Me too - thank you!!!
Great video, thank you very much.
Great thorough review! I'm looking at a machine for thick canvas (sunbrella) would this 423s be tough enough?
It’s a fairly robust machine - if you try using a thick needle size 100. Possibly jeans size 100 and long stitch length - try it out go slowly if motor struggles then you know you’ve pushed the machine to its limits and risk damaging motor x
I have a second hand Elna 3003, have you come across It?
Ah I wasn’t putting that little bar up when I installed it. Thank you !
Glad it helps. Happy sewing
This was my problem, too! Thank you for the informative video!
@@TeeRee-yk4ywwell done glad it helped you
nice
Glad you liked the video hope you found it useful
Before you put the whole thing together, make absolutely sure there is no yarn left somewhere inside. It could get stuck around the axle and block the whole machine.
Where can you buy the foot from? Thank you
www.karendelahunty.co.uk/shop/products/sewing-machine-accessories/bernette-accessories/bernette-free-motion-darning-foot/
That was great, thanks. I did it.
Glad it helped!
Very helpful video, just what I was looking for - thank you!
Hi Tracy thanks for visiting our channel glad you found it useful -enjoy -
Glad your found it useful - it’s a lovely machine - quite a few people asked us how to attach the free motion foot and also how it works so we did a couple of videos to help -enjoy
I loved the videos. This machine does not have a pressure button on the presser arm, can you tell me how this pressure works? Thanks again.
Thank you very much for the tutorial! I have a Bernette B35 that I recently bought, so I don't know how to use the machine very well. I loved knowing that quilting can be done. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
Thank for the video karen, but i have a question my machine cannot pick the thread in the bobbin
Check the threading of your top thread. Change the needle. The bobbin might be in backwards
Is the bobbin placed in the correct way ? Also check needle is in inserted correctly with flat back of the headfirst needle towards the back of the needle housing unit and it’s up to the highest position possible - change to the correct size and type of needle for your project your doing - makes a big difference - check top tension is correct. Usually for most everyday threads used for making seams should be on the number 4 or auto depending on machine type
Nice
What should the thread tension be set at? Thanks
You can keep it on the normal tension no need to change it. - alter stitch length dependent on weight of fabric - Use maraflex top and bottom
Very poor lighting
Stitch length remains even if i move slider to a 4. Any help please?
I just unscrew every screw I can find, open up the machine and spray WD 40 on everything that looks like a moving part. Works fine to date😊
Please check with your dealer!!!! Oiling a machine is normal maintenance. You should oil parts that are easily accessible. As a sewist since 1987 and a quilter since 1990, I shuddered.
I was going to use WD-40 until a man told me that would collect more lint and dust eventually ruin the machine. Then I was also told 3 in 1 oil wasn't good either because it's too thick. That's why there's oil made just for machines!
Never use DW40 oil, you can ruin your machine, you only want "white machine oil"- but check your machine company or dealer 🤗
WD 40 is a penetrant. It’s meant to un stick stuff, not oil. On mechanical, domestic machines, use sewing machine oil not lubricant or grease. Moving metal parts get oil (regularly) and gears get greased(not often). Leave the gear greasing to the pros. Dust then oil your machine regularly!
You don’t want to do that!!
Informative content! Thanks for sharing!

Hello. I'm from Argentina. I have this sewing machine since 2008. It's wonderful. It sews everything. I love my Janome 423S ❤
Good to know!
I just got my janime 423s machine earlier today And I am grateful for this detailed review and little tutorial it did help me ❤ Thanks 😊
Glad you found it useful
Im a 39 year old man who is probably having a midlife crisis and suddenly wanted to learn sewing. I recently bought a Janome HD2200 similar to this machine. I feel like Im in a classroom watching your video and enjoyed it thoroughly. 👍🏼
Your a excellent teacher, thanks so much!
You're very welcome! Glad it helped you
Hi Karen, I didn’t know you were on UA-cam, what a pleasant surprise. Looking forward to more. (I’ve subscribed too). Ann
Hi Ann Thanks for subscribing. Glad you enjoyed it. When your group meets up again you’ll have to tell /show them all about the Channel maybe they will All like to subscribe too xx Look forward to seeing you when your next visiting shop X
I’ll definitely pass it on.

Hi Karen. Love your videos. Xx
Glad you like the videos and found them useful thanks for watching them x
Thank you! Watching you go through the actual procedure is so helpful!
Thank you for sharing ❤❤
Thank you, hopefully I'll be able to use it now.
Love these videos. I thought walking feet were solely for quilting. However you’ve now opened up the possibilities for me to use this amazing foot much more. I personally have avoided silky fabrics because they slip and pucker, so I’m excited to see how to use my walking foot on that. Thank-you so much ❤
Thank you glad you found them useful
Oh my goodness, so that’s how you attach it. I was doing it all wrong. No wonder I couldn’t get it to work correctly. Thank you so much!
Glad it helped - enjoy
The video is dark, i almost thought it’s being recorded by a thief😂
Thanks for the video, I never actually thought of using the walking foot! 🤦🏻♀️ When you cut plaids, or any type of checks, do you recommend cutting on one of the lines with scissors, or using a rotary cutter? I don't seem to get it quite straight, and I have used both methods
Glad the video was helpful. As regards cutting the fabric it doesn’t matter if you you use rotary cutter or scissors just as long as the blades are sharp for better accuracy with any matching to be done I usually cut pattern pieces out on single layer of fabric pattern Face up and flip pattern pieces over when it says to cut 2 of fabric. This ensuring you get 1 x left hand and 1 x right hand pieces
@@KarenDelahuntySewing thank you, much appreciated!
Thank-you so much. I learned a great concept today.
Thank you for your lovely comment. Glad it helped you x
Is there room for the binding feet please?
Hi it’s so nice to stumble across a sewing and knitting shop with English spoken, maybe you’ll know what I mean, all the offers are in American voices. That’s all too far away. I’ve taken note of your particulars and will look at all your offers after Christmas. Have a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2024, regards from Yorkshire.
thank you very much useful video
fiyatını öğrenebilir miyim
The stitching looks good and looks strong 😊
Yes it is the maraflex stretchy thread brilliant
Hey from Germany! Thank you for this nice instruction. May I ask what setting you‘d suggest for sewing a jetsey material? I guess it’s an elastic stitch (so S.S. And maybe C). But at what pressure for the foot (1?), what stitch width, what thread tension? I‘m totally lost here bc either my upper thread is ripping or the jersey is tightening 😢
Beautiful ❤
