Any set up tips for road racing? I have one setup for a dirt oval that i raced this season, wanting to try a road course
@@TannerFincher I would say make it even upfront for left and right. With a good amount of camber. Obviously make sure you have the right gear for the track. And go rip it!! Not much to these things as you know.
what do you use for a camera
Ain’t no way we got the same graphics rn. lol. Bad ass bike build bro and damn fine riding skills If you don’t believe me on stealing ur graphics I got a video of my 110 on my channel
I had a chance to drive one of these legends. It was in Charlotte motor speedway small track for 60 laps. 3rd fastes the whole weekend.
Needs more motor or smaller gear. Depends what he's turning
What steering shaft/column setup are you using? Wheel seems to be more vertical than stock.
Omg! What a bad driver to drive his car and to shift gears. Poor gearbox.
That's not stock is it?
It’s got an 847cc motor and only weighs 1100 pounds/500 kg Yea its stock
Watched these at BTCC knockhill last year loved it so much I booked a track day and drove one loved that so much I’m going to go back and drive it unlimited after some tutoring
@@roberty21hell yea man!
0:35 ah yes, the very rare and very limited edition trans miata.
Are you running the stock head with this setup?
@@SoRippin500 no it’s the v2 head
What series does one need to be in to race on road courses?
Legends are built in Harrisburg, N.C. They started with 1200 cc motorcycle engines. Not sure what the specs are now.
So smooth at the wheel.
They're so much fun, I just wish they weren't the ugliest race cars on the planet. Lol
wym legends are hot
I use to race legends when i was 10-12 years old and i ran a few road course races ontop of mostly being a oval driver and still race oval and no more road course but it was a wild racing road clurse in these tight racing and lots of bumping and white nuckle racing
MY STYLE
This is as good as it gets for those of us on a tight budget. This is racing plain and simple. And that ain’t never bad.😂
nothing about inex racing is cheap, you can race a modified for cheaper.
I know this is a bit older, I've been eyeing the legends series for asphalt oval racing, does it take much to run the car on a road course and are the tires the same compound the oval guys use?
From what I have read and heard from others, it's the same tire whether it's asphalt oval or road course. The same compound, bias ply tire. Some outside sanctioning bodies (like SCCA and NASA) allow Hoosier slicks, but you won't find too many legends guys in those series. Legends are mostly viewed as oval racing cars in the states for whatever reason.
@@evansclips ah okay, that's what I figured. Considering it's one of the cheapest spec series to get into, I'd figured it would be mostly uniform across the different disciplines. I think your answer that that would be that local short track racing is most prominent and as such legends is the most common series to see. Not saying that US road isn't still big, just saying that Asphalt oval and dirt oval takes majority of the legends racing in the US
Where did you go to buy this? I want to Auto X one.
This guy was short shifting like crazy
Temps were high and didn’t feel like blowing it up lol
I don’t even know if short shifting would help lol
@@rayyoder6545 YOLO, Wring that sucker out!! Lol
this looks like a blast.... i need one
2.2 or 2.4
What is that gauge in the center of the dash? I thought it was a tach but it doesn't really seem to be rising and falling with the RPMs like you would expect.
It’s a tach, just wasn’t working properly at that moment
Nothing like riding around in your coffin. 😳😨. Too fast for the type of driver protection !!
I’ll agree with you on that one, 110+mph in these things is a little much.
These cars look like so much fun on a road circuit. The short wheelbase and power to weight, and lack of diff means they just don't want to stay the right way round.
The Legends are just so fun to watch because they are so overpowered it is easy to get loose. This makes for a lot of lead changes and passing. Unlike other racing cars.
advantage
Do Legends cars have 4 pedals? . I once read this . If so, why is this?
Clutch, brake pedal has two peddles so you can brake left or right foot and then the gas peddle. So 3 peddles
@rayyoder6545 Interesting . It's such a great race car
Nice dude . I'm loving this track
What is the circuit called?
This is at AMP (Atlanta Motorsports Park) in Dawsonville GA.
@@rayyoder6545 Really nice circuit
My absolute 2 favorite cars together. Legends are awesome race cars. We have a series in Scotland that race at a beautiful and very tricky circuit called Knockhill. MX-5 are fantastic cars too.
I agree. I honestly was not ready for how much faster In a straight line the legends car was. Definitely shocked me.
@rayyoder6545 They're very quick cars. I'd love to race one. Luckily, they're affordable in motorsport terms compared to many other race series. We have 2 championships in the UK. A Scottish Championship and a National UK Championship. When things go wrong. The crashes can be spectacular, too. The safety of these cars is excellent as well. I think I read somewhere that they have one of the best safety records of any race car. Did you see John Mickel's crash from the UK series? ua-cam.com/video/5KNNQT7Mj_Q/v-deo.html
Holy crap
Scary idk if I could hang
Hey did you do any gearing changes to get it setup for a road course?
Legends cars engines are spec so no transmission changes but rear end changes yes
also suspension
Do these cars have a clutch? If so is it for start/take off only?
i was wondering the same thing
@@NAPA.Cup.Series great minds think alike. Im pretty sure they clutch to start and launch... and then clutch is optional after rolling...
Like a racecar, sequential gearbox. So conventional clutch is used for starting/stopping, gear changes can be done without clutch, either through a quickshifter/blipper or with skill ;)
@@derjaxxer would it be miserable on a road use car? i have a MG midget roller, and i thought the engine and driveline from a FZ09 would be perfect for it.
In any racing car. The less you move the steering wheel, the faster you'll be. And you move the steering wheel a lot.
Agree with you on that one
Which only proves, any fool can go fast in a straight line 😉
One word - SAVAGE!
Nice setup you got there. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rev counter in a legend. I race on dirt to be fair though
Just now realizing that’s a speedo and I’m blind
It is of importance for the pilote, mes amis, to remember that the R-binders are but the 'drum' variety.
Atlanta motorsports park. I love that place.
It would be interesting to see what a big wing would do for the handling.
It would make a world of difference! No tire at all on these things and they only weight 1300 lbs with driver so it’s a battle!
And some wider tires and wheels
@@baims8367 you cant run them in their class
Do legend cars have a solid rear end??
The original ones were out of chevy vegas.
@@getinit56 Legends use the Toyota rear end out of Celica.. never have used a vega rear end
@shanedosser4007 The last time I heard any discussion about a legends car build was around 1998-00. I was in my early 20s and drove one at Charlotte motor speedway in an expedition. I just recall being told that whether it was true or not. I never looked into it.
What race track is this at?
Atlanta Motorsports park in Dawsonville GA
I Have To Buy A Miata and Go Racing!
Honestly with the way the Miata market is you could probably get out cheaper in a legend car 😂
@Noah Stuart Jay Leno’s Garage interviewed the maker of the legend cars. He said that some people order street legal cars. But this car only seats one. The Miata is already street ready and a true reliable version of the British sports car. It has its own category in the Sports Car Club of America. The legends look like a ton of fun. But I can take the Miata on dates. It is a true Barchetta.
@@6catalina0 I mean yeah if you want a street car that you can track then go with a Miata,s2000, 240sx, integra, or whatever sporty car you may want but if it’s specifically a track toy I’d say someone would be better off in something like a legend car
@@noahstuart606 a motorcycle engine that revs up to 11,000 in a light weight track car that can be ordered street legal, Cool!
@@6catalina0 I think depending on state in the US they can be made street legal but it’s a lot of work and hoops to jump through
Entirely, too much fun!!
Nice save on that off.
