Car weighed close to 5000 lbs. Naturally aspirated. No power outer at all. Ran a 9.67 e.t. at the old Dikenson track in Houston

    the 454 was a 421 improved.... the other BBC's were improved 389-400s... so even though you're a Chevy guy... your Chevy had its roots in Pontiac

  • @55classic1
    @55classic1 2 роки тому

    maybe Jensen should mention this...Chevy's 409 couldn't touch the 421... Butler proved that...built both as factory spec...421 made 488hp 409 made 406 hp.... then this happens....chevy copied Pontiac's stroke of 3.75" [ 389 ish, 400] and called there's 3.76... that was the root of the 396, 402 and 427... so Chevy took Pontiac's formula...designed a good set of heads because Pontiac heads were lousy until the Ram air 4 heads which were to late in the game...then the BBC that everyone raves about copied the 421 stroke of 4"... The BBC made the 409 history... canted valve big blocks vs the sort of wedge design heads of the 409 and pontiac stroke made them legendary

    The 428 Poncho was an absolute sleeping giant. Loved that engine. 526hp at the wheels through a firehose jetted 750cfm holley and 4-tube full length headers. A torque monster.

    • @55classic1

      the 428 is a 421 over 60 I believe and the provisions for a 4 bolt main are there... so it can easily be made into a 4 bolt main engine.... a race 421
