Northern Bog Lemming Quest in Maine
Based on what we know about rodent tail length and animal shape and size in Maine, we believe that this could very well be a lemming. Is it a northern bog lemming or the southern variety? Maybe it is a meadow vole with a shorter tail than the others have? We will continue to capture video of these animals and eventually either find scat for genetic testing or trap one. MYSTERY PREDATOR Stealing Suet From Barn | Trail Cam Catches It
Переглядів 829 місяців тому
We've been putting 1/2 pound blocks of beef fat on ladder rungs in our barn in northern Maine to use as suet for the woodpeckers (they love it!). The last time we went out for a refill, they were all gone... Some animal was stealing them. So we put a trail cam out there and NAILED HIM. The wildlife never ceases to amaze us here. What a surprise!
Canada Lynx | Mount Chase Maine
Переглядів 29711 місяців тому
Ten minutes after this clip was taken I walked down that trail with my dog Helga to check a couple of the cams. She sure was sniffing excitedly around a lot... Now I know why. This is a nice 4K close-up that demonstrates the pure black tip of the tail that all Canada lynx have (bobcat have a white tip), it's long legs, and large ear tufts.

Patten Pentecostal Church | Merry Christmas Pastors Frank And Amy 2023
Переглядів 11811 місяців тому
The huge amount of work and effort that Pastor Frank and Pastor Amy put into the Patten Pentecostal Church isn't always visible - They likely had no idea that they were on cam when they were off-road out gathering Christmas decorations last week. Pretty cool how the sun rays are generously sprinkling blessings upon them. Merry Christmas to our new Pastors!
A Moose, Then a Flood, Then a Protozoa - On The Same Trail Camera?

The largest of Maine's land animals, the mighty moose. And a single cell animal, the protozoa. Can a standard trail cam capture both? Let's see!

Trail Camera Under Water! This is one of the vernal ponds at Camp Oot-Oot. They typically dry up in the late summer, and refill in the early spring. A vernal pond is a natural and important part of the ecosystem that is the annual breeding ground of many different critters like frogs and other amphibians. Some algae and protozoa and even little shrimp thingy's (I forgot what they're called) bur...

Just A Barred Owl Asking "Who Cooks For You?"
Переглядів 3,9 тис.Рік тому
North Woods Maine - After a week of stalking barred owls at Camp Oot-Oot earlier this summer... Being attacked by bugs, tripping in the dark & falling in a creek - we have a great recording of one of our resident owls asking "Who Cooks For You?" It was a glorious week! We took the pics this past winter.
A Study In Size: Common Raven, Turkey Vulture, Bald Eagle, American Crow

We were pretty happy to see a raven, vulture, eagle and crow all on one clip back in May. A pretty good illustration of size differences.

The tadpole pond at Camp Oot-Oot gets a lot of wildlife visitors. This is the largest bird we've ever seen there! We spotted one at the bigger pond way up in the woods, too. North Woods Maine.

Great video! Very informative!
Nice one. Straight out of a movie.
Great video, enjoyed seeing the bull moose and black bear. Glad y’all found the cam. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed! 👍
At 1:30 and 3:04...Is that a fisher or Otter or what?
That’s a fisher! We see them a lot, they’re really cool critters.
A wonderful treasure to find!!
I have seen deer, possum, fox, skunk, raccoon, muskrats and ermine in Brunswick, Maine. More than a few two-legged animals here, too, most wearing red hats.
I live in southern western mainne and i have no idea what is a canids?

Pretty animal ♥
What a beauty! 😊
He would make a nice coat.
👍🏻
Very cool thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure!
very well done short clips didnt waste any time awesome video we have hardly any snow in the sebago area not many deer coming into feed right now
Glad you enjoyed it! Not as much snow up here as we’d like to see, but it will probably still come. Your area - Portland/Sebago Lake is pretty awesome, too!
@@campoot-oot raining right now 32 out only about 4 inches on the ground snowing pretty good in jackman enjoy your weekend
ooh, a fisher! One of those species you only see on trail cams! Must be a healthy habitat to support such a variety of animals!
Ya, the fisher are pretty cool. Amazing how many animals these woods support. We post a lot of fisher (and other critters) almost daily on Facebook facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092868535313 Glad you enjoyed the video!
❤❤❤
Great video, very impressive!
Thank you very much. The animals do most of the work!
Very cool! Beautiful animal!
I just love them Jennifer! This one has been hanging around for over a week. I thought I was seeing a lot of snowshoe hare all summer... Your channel is amazing, I'm enjoying it a lot!
Excellent video, nicely compiled. Is there actually a place called Camp Oot-Oot in Maine?
Thanks, we’re glad you enjoyed it! Yep - Camp Oot-Oot is a private facility in northern Maine. We study wildlife and share some of the cool stuff we get on our cameras.
I'm surprised people didn't ask you about the fishercats? You don't see them very often, but you know their around. Beautiful animals, look happy and healthy.
We enjoy seeing the fisher, they're here a lot especially in the colder months. They don't seem to like it when the large canids (eastern wolves?) are here raising their young, but when they start following the deer around after some of the pups disperse, the fisher come by a lot more. The smaller canids (eastern coyote) don't seem to affect the fisher.
@campoot-oot I often visit my friend in Southern New Hampshire. Fishers are supposed to be their also, but I've never seen one or the river otters they say are there. This year was odd. Every summer, I enjoyed watching all the critters from his deck, but this year, everything seemed to disappear. Even the local ducks that visit from up river didn't show every day as they did the years before. We definitely have a bear, but it would weigh a ton if it ate all the local poultry and wild animals. Who knows their animals. I really liked your video.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the animals we love seeing so much. Yeah - animal behavior can be confusing for sure. Some years you'll see an animal, others there's no sign of them. I think the natural cycles & migrations have something to do with it, as well as us just plain out missing them, as they're there but hiding. Keep watching! @@anndinoto
@campoot-oot I don't need to go too far. My backyard features a couple of woodchucks, a possum, two raccoons that are probably 50 pounds from eating scraps, and the resident skunk. Thanks for replying to my comment. It's good to see wildlife coming back, and I live in the city.
Sounds very cool there! Some of the best trail cam surprises come from urban places. @@anndinoto
Ilves kävelee ja pissii. Greetings from Finland.
Yep! All of the local predators that walk by that stick mark it. Even my dog. It’s a very popular stick. Tervehdys Suomi!
❤😊❤ !
I love foxes ! ❤ Greetings from Finland.
Glad you enjoyed it, we sure like seeing the foxes, too. We have red fox and occasional gray fox. Have you seen any arctic fox in Finland?
@@campoot-oot Not here in eastern-Finland. Arctic-foxes live in Lapland. But I have seen many red foxes here.
I have heard that the arctic-fox has died of extinction. I am not sure. It is called ' naali ' a northern-fox. They live in Lapland, in northern-Finland.
It would be great if you could tell us what some of these animals are. Being from Australia we are not familiar with some of them. Great video though. Plenty of wildlife there.
Thanks for the tip - I added their names in the description. Have a great day!
Not unique. With 14 or so locations excluding the repeats you must be very busy. I've seen it all but the fisher and barking coyote were impressive. I appreciate the fact that you didn't narrate the entire clip like many of the narcissists on UA-cam.
Yet most people live nowhere near such sights. What a Karen you must be about every little thing.
Fantastic capture of the lynx. Enjoyed watching 👍 👍 ❤
Thanks! She's not a regular, but we do see her every winter.

Awesome video! I'd like to set up a trail cam where I live.
That's awesome Matt. It's a blast and there's almost always a pleasant surprise waiting for you when you check to see what's stopped by!
Great action! Love the red fox with the snowshoe hare. I think the hare was larger than the fox. Also loved the bull moose. Tons of wildlife in your very healthy ecosystem.
Thanks! Yeah, a summer clip of a fox with a hare is a good example of the actual (smallish) size of our red foxes and 'largeness' of the hares... The fox sure puff up and appear a lot larger in the winter, huh? Very much enjoying your awesome stuff, too!
Great video, lots of action in this episode, neat to see the fox haul off the snowshoe hare. Enjoyed watching 👍
Glad you enjoyed it - the fox with the hare was a lucky one!
KAKVA LEPOTA❤
Very interesting!!🤔
that owl ate some of my food and he's not having it
I love foxes so much, so fluffy, so cute, and they laugh!
You should hear some of the crazy sounds they make in the night!
are the cute or scary@@campoot-oot
They’re wicked cute. Especially in the winter when their fur gets super full and fluffy.
The sounds can be scary tho! Sometimes they sound like a lady screaming at the top of her lungs!
yeah i looked up a video@@campoot-oot
nice🙂🐺
Awesome ! Greetings from Germany 😍🦊
Nice video. Thanks for sharing so wonderful video on Owl. Big Like
Piękne nagranie Pozdrawiam
Beautiful sound 🎉
Great capture, what did the fox hunt down?
I think it was a rabbit of some sort. Maybe a jackal?
Very cool!!! Such beautiful animals!
In the late 80’s I stayed in a small cabin in the area for a week with a couple friends. I don’t remember the name of the lake but I do remember the tremendous amount of stars in the sky on clear nights! We would go to a little store in Patten or Sherman and the guy in the white building sold everything from butter to bullets. Being from NJ, we weren’t used to seeing this…lol
Fantastic footage, enjoyed 👍 👍
Many thanks!
Talk about agility, dang!
Isn't it amazing? We've been trying to get our resident gray fox climbing a tree - that's just as cool. Wish us luck!
Incredible biodiversity at camp oot oot! Fantastic camera work! You definitely have some very large bears!
Thanks, sure is fun. I'm waiting for you to start posting all of your critter finds!
Epic footage, tons of action sequences and tons of fantastic captures love the moose the best. Haven’t got them yet on camera. Enjoyed thanks for sharing 👍 👍
Thanks! Yeah, moose are pretty cool & there are a lot of 'em up here. I've only seen them a few times hiking but get 'em all the time on cam. You have some awesome cam locations, you'll get one eventually!
@@campoot-oot thanks 🙏 if not this hopefully next 👍
Great close up here. So peaceful. Great video.
Thx! Yeah, very peaceful. I should put a higher resolution cam there, it's a pretty cool bird.
What a beauty! Wish I could have gotten such a close up of my foxes. Great video.
Thanks! Yeah they're awesome critters. Kinda scraggly looking in the summer but their winter coats are amazing.
Great captures, enjoyed 👍 👍
👍 👍 bears and raccoons love to investigate trail cameras.
Don't forget the always inquisitive moose!
@@campoot-oot definitely 💯, still hoping one decides to sniff out one of my cameras, I’ve been seeing their poop all over the place were I’ve got cameras up.
A friend of mine had eastern coyote pups chew the strap and haul the cam off, only to find it a week later. She got some cool clips.
@@campoot-oot WOW 👍 that’s a puppy for ya 😂
