Mayday the Greater Patagonian Conure Finds a new Hiding Place! Rest in Peace Mayday!
Переглядів 1,7 тис.10 років тому
Mayday was our Greater Patagonian Conure, largest and maybe the noisiest of the conures. We are sorry to report that Mayday has passed away from old age. He was 20 years old and gave us much joy and was always with us on all our trips. The Patagonian Conures are not seen in many pet stores in the US. In Nature, they live in caves dug into the mud cliffs in the Patagonian region, and they love t...
Carefree Flash Flood Runs Big, March 1, 2014

Video of the beginning a ferocious rain storm in Carefree, Arizona on March 1, 2014, that dropped 2 inches of rain. Then you'll see the large wash in our backyard begin to run. The unusual feature we've never seen before, are the pulses, or waves of water, that come down ontop of the already flowing water, in another layer. Very unusual. You'll be amazed at how dry everything is the next day!

Bagdad Sunset Trains
Переглядів 45614 років тому
Near the site of the former town of Bagdad, California, along Route 66 in the Mojave Desert, there are two of the longest railroad straightaways in the country. This is on the Transcontinental Route for BNSF with over 100 trains a day. At sunset, with a good telephoto lens on the camera, there are some interesting looks of the trains pulling up the hill toward Los Angeles.
The Amazing Feather River Railroads and the Keddie Wye--The Seven Wonders of the Railroad World!

Over a one week period in 2009, we taped a variety of the trains going through the Feather River one after another. It's one of the great train watching spots in the world. However, it may never be as good as this year again. That's because the Donner Pass tunnel was enlarged by Union Pacific, so it could take the big container intermodal trains. Much of the traffic now is going that way and no...

Watching Trains in the Snow in Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Переглядів 19 тис.15 років тому
Not only is Steamboat a great ski area, but a charming railroad town. We like nothing more after a day of skiing, to take our RV to the old train depot and watch the coal trains go to Denver. However, in December of 2007, there was a horrible railroad accident in Denver between a freight train and a commuter line that locked the tracks for quite a while. In Steamboat, we waited, and waited for ...

Today there are 85 radio broadcasting stations and 11 television stations in Arizona.
I've been in Phoenix since 2004 . I've heard stories about the wreckage near dreamy draw but never this crash . This is an awesome video . Thank you for posting.
Here’s my story: I was reading a book that I had obtained from the estate of a friend who had recently died, and on one page someone (maybe my friend, but I doubt it, I think it was the previous owner, whose initials were D.B.) used a newspaper clipping as a bookmark. It was a partial clipping, and part of the article was cut off and the sentence could not be read fully, but there was enough important information to do some digging on the Internet to find out about the circumstances of the tragic death of reporter Mike Nuetzman. He died in 1991. The year I found the clipping in the book was 2023 (in August). I think whoever used the bookmark was more interested in what was on the other side of the clipping, a drawing of our planet (with its moon) seemingly melting into two symbolic hands. Some 30 odd years later, it’s ironic to me how that image has some bearings on current events.
Awesome!
When they built these bridges they did not know the weight of today's trains
The good old days imo
Graves is described in Timothy Good's book "Above Top Secret", relating Frank Scully's account, as: "former businessman and private pilot Selman E. Graves, who witnessed part of the recovery operation with two friends". The book has much more to add (and is cheap on Kindle Books).
FOX TV's presentation describes "the witness" (this one or another one? not stated) as "unsavoury ... with little credibility". Not the impression I get of Graves in this interview, so maybe they meant (if they even knew) "the friend living in a shack"?. Link: ua-cam.com/video/WwGVwkiP11o/v-deo.html The dam being built much later is presumably a valid point however - or was some previous dam built there, e.g. just piled rubble?
Graves is described in Timothy Good's book "Above Top Secret", relating Frank Scully's account, as: "former businessman and private pilot Selman E. Graves, who witnessed part of the recovery operation with two friends". The book has much more to add (and is cheap on Kindle Books). It describes one of Graves' friends, who lived in the basement of a shack (back when that area was wild & deserted), whose freezer allegedly temporarily stored alien bodies from the craft. I wonder if that was the "unsavoury" witness described by the reporter. Imprecise and potentially posthumously defamatory. None of the witnesses can answer back! (all now deceased).
May I use this clip for a documentary I’m currently working on?
0:40 I really enjoyed hearing them argue over the radio network, it made my day. Too bad it didn't happen in person.
Lol this is a joke because no person will have a needle or a magnet on them.
If only Amtrak and do the same with the RVs
You got some great footage of an amazing location but, with so many great locations available, is it really necessary to get within touching distance of moving trains? Apart from obvious risks to your own safety and setting a bad example to railfans watching the video, it's going to freak out any rail workers who see you there. Any engineer will get nervous if he sees "civilians" this close to his train.
Where did they take it? I wonder
Those flat cars should have been pulled by a steam locomotive. The train would have been more interesting that way.
niess
That's where the secret blend of herbs and spices came from. #Cool video, never heard of this crash and I'm gonna read up on it now. I originally clicked cause I thought it was some nut job that dressed like the Colonel. Thanks for posting this!
This Fight Was 27 Years Ago I Was Still A Baby.
I took the 'Goat & Chicken Train' to Creel in 1992 from Los Mochis, Baja C Sur. It was spectacular. Lived on my boat there for a year before moving on...I'll never go back to Mexico.
Please came back, we are crying, jajaja jajaja jajaja jajaja, there are a 1,200,000.00 US citizen living in MÉXICO and 500,000.00 un vacations, we Will miss you (jajaja jajaja jajaja) lol.
Ernesto Monarrez....Heh heh: 1,200,000.00 US Citizens living in Mehico.....Really think so, Pancho? Reality, logic, english and math were not your strong suites, huh? ''Sweatbacks don't matter''.
I'm sorry, but Is thrue, hugs and kisses. mi casa es tu casa.
@@ernestomonarrez13 Mexico used to be much better. Not any more. Too dangerous now. Tu casa mi casa? No thanks. Tu casa has a dirt floor. And Creel is a waste of space.
They don’t have teeth fucktard
I saw this when I lived in Creel, Mexico for 7 months. They would stop at the "Divisidero" at the Copper Canyon lookout point. It was so cool to see! I tell people about it until this day.
Yes there is more. This is a short clip from an extensive interview. He gives a great deal of information about the location in the full interview but one would have to area of Cave Creek in 1947 to get a true image of his comments. Westmoreland, mentioned in the comments got the location right but the location of the Go John mine as described in the interview very wrong. The actual crash location is the current transfer station for Cave Creek, aka as the dump. It was a landfill before it became a transfer station. It is close to the Frys on Carefree Highway.
How can I find the full interview
Heh, I was just looking through Wendelle Stevens' old logs and I know he had Graves' name and address in Arizona in the late 80s'. The other account of his experiences are covered in Timothy Good's book Above Top Secret pp. 394 et-seq
Has anyone done a FOIA request on this?
I worked on the caravans for 10 years. Took several train trips. Even did one with motorcycles. The RVs just didn't weigh enough compared to heavy freight. They couldn't charge very much. In spite of the fact that it looks dangerous , we never had any injuries except for a couple splinters from the crappy wood railings. I got derailed twice with the motorcycles. The worst experience was; parking next to leaky ammonia carts in los Mochis. The railroad wasn't making any money off the light RVs. Also, people complained loudly when we got pulled through at night.
Not running an excursion railroad.
Saludos, desde México.
Thank you for a great video.
I knew Eric Thomsen who was in charge of the Western Pacific track. While the former WP route would seem preferable to the Donner Pass route, land slides are a constant problem in Feather River Canyon.
I just LOVE Patagonians! They Are SO intelligent and very entertaining!! I just love my Patty. She is a big time snuggle bunny!!
They sure are affectionate, if you can put up with the noise!!!!
Well, they ARE known to gather in large colonies in the wild, so when they live alone in captivity, they are always calling for their colonie mates! Mine is paired with a Senegal Parrot so she is not alone, but she still has her noisy moments!
The Phoenix lights are looking for lost ships. That's why there near Dreamy draw and Sedona.
One of those RVs was so close to the edge on the car it looked like it was going to pitch over when they took a curve. Wooden car floors, wooden supports to load/unload, passengers hanging on by a rope; just too much possibility for someone to be injured or worse. Yes, it looks fun and you had the time of your life, but again, I understand why they stopped it.
The Politically Correct, Nanny-State/SafetyCrat "baloney" has now percolated down even to Mexico. People are scared of life.
And they would rather rv's buy fuel and drive. Assholes!
You are totally right. Lawsuit, legalistic b.s. has ruined everything
I will always love Mr. Westmoreland. KTA...who? Mr. Westmoreland made me want to be on the radio.
The Spring Garden Tunnel is the longest tunnel of the route at 7,294 ft.
Sparks? Did it take 395?
Longest of the 34 tunnels?
Is there more to this video?? I tried going to the website listed in the description but it is currently unavailable.
yes, it does look like I'm too close to the trains going by. I had the video camera outstretched as far as I could, watching the screen, keeping as far as possible, but to get a dramatic shot, , but you're right, always dangerous, not recommended. I was good friends with Lou Menk in Carefree, former CEO of the Burlington Northern railroad and we use to talk about the crazy train days. I had hopped about 25,000 miles of freights when I was REALLY crazy about trains. All dangerous, for sure. Lou worked his way up from a caboose to running the company, before he passed away. He loved those rails. Nice to see they named the street after him that the headquarters was at....Lou Menk Drive.
Hi, I thought there was a BNSF spur to went North from Reno that went into the Feather River. Perhaps I was wrong.
Yes, there is a spur that goes north from Reno. It is owned by the Union Pacific and about half of the branch is out of service.
Always sad to see any railroad branch out of service
Indeed it is. I happen to live by this branch. UP uses it monday-friday.
Wonder how much that went for.
who will take steel wool to the forest?
enjoyed your video
Trains going through the Feather River Canyon don't go anywhere near Sparks
Thank you, Dave, I saw that too, at 1:50 WB at Clio. A little confused perhaps. Let's go ahead and x out Sparks and replace it with Portola. Cheers! 🍻
Go to the Bell Trail, west of Sedona. You're right in their back yard literally. I don't know if it's a health risk, but believe what they say about a city above bell rock. At night you will see them is a minute or so.
The closest you can get the cave creek landfill where the UFO was buried is at the golf course. The landfill has a fence around it. There are houses nearby. I'd be very concerned of radiation sickness, and cancer from the saucer and the toxic debris in the landfill.
I was there recently about 3 weeks ago . I was there about an hour . All a sudden there was a super expensive black ops type helicopter 2 seater . They were flying about 10 to 20 feet above the treeline . It was very ominous and unnerving. It wasn't the typical police helicopter I've never seen them fly that low . This was the type that is in all the spy or action movies . It was a very scary experience . I went back and tried to find out what that location was . I then found all this info on it .
I realize that Carefree is the name of the place, but the title of the video is amusingly contradictory: "Carefree flash flood".
I wanna live there.
Jude LaCava is a bad ass! Greg Anthony is a bitch! That brawl made me hate the Knicks! and they STILL suck! FK NYK
Go to the Sears-Kay ruins between Carefree and Seven Springs and you will see them almost every night. or Go to Schnebly Hill Rd. in Sedona at night,
