I am having a 6kw mitsubishi ecodan installed with a 180l tank for £5,200 after the grant in a 1950's 3 bed semi. That includes a full repipe and 8 new radiators. I do not have a gas boiler that would cost significantly more to install and would still need the radiators and repipe. My mortgage company will also give me a further £2000 on top. Total cost £3,200.

We have a ground heating system operating from 2004. Last year we replaced the nit. We have been heating our garage with direct electicity but now i decided to put a heatpump in it. Among the top names I found this the best option. I was also concidering going cheap with Gree or some of their units branded otherwise. I will tell you why I did not. In my garage which is probally larger than your appartment sound, a sticker or light does not matter. What does matter is that the unit works whitout acting strange in some of the cases with the cheap Chineese pumps. They tend to through ot a new product with a new name every 5 to 10 years. I do not cla8m this to be the most efficient air-to-air pump but most likely one that will last and cause less issues. Would it not be fare to say that you have evertyhing wrong when it comes to heat pumps. Not everything is suitable for your size and purpose. I mean there are likely people with different needs beside yours. Well the heading watch this before buying a mitsubishi AY series heatpump becomes clear when watching their offering, which you apperantlly have not.

R290 is superior. It's more efficient than anything but CO2. R32 has a 690 GWP. Propane has a GWP of 3, can heat water to 180C and work down to -35C. It's the best for heat pumps.

As an energy engineer with enough programming/data expertise to be dangerous, this was a great podcast. I've worked for a few retailers with large portfolios and they all lack the broad visibility and proactive analytics to really get on top of their portfolios. So just using AI/ML to provide visibility (which I am working on with my current employer) would be huge.

Wouldn't it be a lot less expensive to simply replace his existing gas boiler with an efficient gas boiler? It sounds like both solutions are expensive and ASHP costly and disruptive to install for older houses, so maybe get a new gas boiler and play the waiting game when in 5-10yrs time efficiencies and alternatives are more viable and appealing?

That customer who has a single ducted unit for the entire bungalow is me! 10kw mitsubishi unit on a 1960s bungalow. Did bonded bead cavity wall insulation and put 400mm of loft roll in covering all the duct work. Cheap bills! Cool in the summer and toasty in the winter. Couldn't be happier! And as I didn't have a combi boiler or rads previously the cost of putting a gas boiler in was double that of the ducted unit. It's quiet, powerful and I'd never go back to gas!

My mitsubishi AC units are god damn trash. Auto mode is not working for shit. Heating mode is not working for shit. Cooling mode not working for shit. Auto mode doesn’t keep a temperature, it always gets too hot. Cooling mode keeps on cooling well below what is set in the settings. Heating mode keeps heating well beyond the set temperature. If I set 21c for heating, it heats up to 24. For cooling if I set 22 it coold below 20. Going into the app, it displays the wrong indoor temperature until I change to another setting, like from heating to cooling, where it suddenly realizes, oh shit, it’s not 21 like it’s set to, it’s 24, gotta cool. Worst AC units I’ve ever had the displeasure of using. Now even issues with their damn app where it takes a minute between the unit updating and you changing a setting.
