Frankly, the speedrunning community dodged a bullet with this one... Guinness World Records is nothing but a business these days, pay-to-play. I've lost count of the stories I've heard from all sorts of communities, explaining the ridiculous criteria & expenses GWR demand to get their "official certification"... from paying business-class travel costs for GWR 'officials' to travel to a small school's record attempt, to athletics & strength records they refused to certify despite the competition utilising Olympics-valid equipment. So that list of rules @ 2:25 isn't remotely surprising... nor their lack of appreciation for the nuts & bolts of speedrunning. Really interesting video! 👍

GWR is a dumb overhyped money-grab project, that has no respect for actual achievements and should never be an "official" indication for anything, it is often outdated and misleading, and the process of getting in there is absurdly expensive and just not worth it at all

As someone who was in the SMO speedrunning community at the time, the only thing that bothered me was the fact that the all 6 boss rematches category was put on the main board and not under category extensions. I had no idea conditions were this bad.
