On May 14, 1997 Nikki Reynolds who was 17, a well-behaved and well-liked girl engaged with the church service stabbed her adoptive Mother, Billie Jean Reynolds 25 times with a 14 inch butcher knife at their Coral Springs home, Florida. Nikki started dating a boyfriend named Carlos Infante same age, and started going astray. Her adoptive parents namely the victim, Billie Jean and her adoptive Father, Robert thought he was a bad influence. The quiet girl whom had a normal happy childhood turned to be a troubled girl. She pretended to have been raped and faked a pregnancy in order to gain attention. When she broke up with her boyfriend she sought revenge. On the day of the murder she planned to kill her then her adoptive Father and her boyfriend too. But confessed it was too hard and ended up calling the Police, saying she couldn’t go through with it.
Like Sarah Vercauteren her Mother was saying ‘I Love You’ as she was dying and before the last strike said she’d forgive her in the next life. Nikki’s insanity plea was rejected despite suffering psychiatric and emotional issues. She was sentenced to 34yrs later reduced to 21, and again reduced further taking her age into consideration that she was a minor. Nikki was discharged on Sept 18, 2015. Her crime haunts her to this day. During her time in jail she admitted she thought and cried about the incident everyday, and wished she hadn’t done it. Rest In Peace Billie Jean, and Hope Nikki carries on with her life in a positive way. X
