    Where would you even find parts for this car? Well done.

    • @soundkillr
      @soundkillr 17 днів тому

      @mckessa17 mechanical parts are everywhere. It's the interior and body parts that are difficult to source. It's been in my family since new so I started sourcing hard to find parts about 30 years ago. I wish Toyota would do restoration support kind of like what nissan does with the z cars. There are a few tasteful aftermarket options but not many.

    Lovely car! Such a pity that your US regulations mandated those bumpers, though. The JDM versions, available in Australia and other countries, looked so much nicer, being as they were in keeping with the designer’s original vision.

    Hey very cool mod. What did you use as an adhesive?

    • @soundkillr
      @soundkillr 2 роки тому

      Amazon sells extremely thin doubled sided tape sheets. You remove the backing on one side...and very carefully apply it so as not to get air bubbles. Then I used an Amazon cutting board with sliding razor for clean edges. Putting it on is pretty simple...the adhesive is very forgiving and can be pulled off with the material and placed again multiple times.

    • @mike7599
      @mike7599 2 роки тому

      @@soundkillr thanks for your reply. can you provide a link to that adhesive sheet? All the ones I see seem very permanent with no margin for error when applying it. I like how the one you used gives you some leeway.

    I watched through the video once with the sound off, and literal tears came to my eyes. The interior looks so good that I can smell it. Oh, my god, the memories... I miss that steering wheel. I miss those weird back seat belts. I miss my first car. I felt like I was sitting in it again. I watched it again with the sound on. I was never able to afford to fix the AC, and mine certainly did not have the rumble that you've given yours, but the sound of the spring (poing!) when the hood opened made me tear up again. You have truly honored this beautiful vehicle, though don't really need the spoiler. Thank you so much for being so kind to it and posting it for us.

    Ryan, I would check the classic celica sites, such as classic-celica dot com or 1stgencelica. They have a classified section and I usually see a full a/c system pop up every few months. Also check eBay. From time to time they show up there. You can also build one yourself. I think the site to source a custom a/c was classicair dot com. I can't remember if That's the correct name, but Google classic air. Good luck! BTW the factory air systems are almost bullet proof. Mine is still ice cold, has the original lines, and was recharged over five years ago....

I've just started my internet search and haven't found anything yet. With you and your family's vast knowledge of the car any tips/suggestions where to find factor A/C or an aftermarket system?
