Thank you 😍🫶🏼 I am definitely in my soft nursing era for sure. I still have to give vaccines, assess patients, educate, and do manual vitals. We have had some patients in urgent situations as well we’ve had to send to urgent care, so we definitely have our busy days, but I am so grateful where I am in life right now 🙌🏼

Tax is definitely a little high! I heard we may get back more for tax season because my job withheld too much.

Hi @taylin4058. Yes! It certainly easy to manage work and life outside of work as a nurse. Even when I worked 12 hour shifts, I had so much time to be able to travel, hangout with friends and family, and have time for hobbies. Just like any other profession, there will be days where you are tired and need relaxation time, but overall the work life balance as a nurse is great :)

Hi @kelseyhinailt9314 ! I apologize I am just now seeing your comment. How did the interview go? I am sure you rocked it :) From my experience, most nursing interviews just ask the basic questions like why do you want this position, where you do you see yourself in five years? I truly have never experienced an interview where they ask clinical questions, as some applicants do not have the experience, so managers find others questions to ask that show critical thinking skills instead. If you have anymore questions about oncology nursing, please let me know! I am happy to help in anyway I can. I am so sorry to hear about your best friend... I will be keeping her in prayers as she continues to battle cancer <3 I have found working with cancer patients is truly rewarding, especially when you hear them ring the bell (finishing treatment, finding out they are cancer free or in remission, etc)!

Hi @beth3p1 ! I completely agree!! I know most people may think that the pay is low, but in FL, it is really good pay making over 80,000 a year as a nurse. Even though I could be making more for what I do as a nurse, I am so grateful <3

I can only speak from my experience. I am scheduled to work 4 10s, but only required to work 36 hours at my outpatient job as well and I have Fridays off too. When I first started outpatient, it about the same pay if I worked my full 40, but now I make $6 more dollars an hour than when I was working inpatient and I average about 37-38 hours weekly. I choose not to work my full 40 in order to maintain a healthy work life balance. I make substantially more than what I made before. I stay in contact with a few of my coworkers and they have not had as many raises as I have at my new position. But my old hospital was know for being one of the lowest paying hospitals in the area, so I am not sure how it compares to the other health systems in my area… Oh I love that! How do you like outpatient school nursing? One day I would love to try to be a school nurse.

Hi @vickygonzalex1376 ! From what I noticed from other nursing students and watching others nursing school journeys, most schools use very similar resources. One reason I started sharing my journey was to try to help as many nursing students as I could! Don't forget to use quizlet for practice questions! I found that most helpful <3

Hi @Ray.0.0 ! Yes you definitely have to make sure you always protect license no matter where you work. I did enjoy the bedside working with the little ones, but there were also many factors as to why I left bedside. I will be sharing this soon. I think you will truly enjoy outpatient! Just know from my prospective it is slower pace, so it can get repetitive and redundant, but I love where I work now and feel as though I have a great work life balance :)

I do feel much happier 😍 But I also have to thank Matthew for making my life more interesting now haha. I was working in the nursery PRN until we moved. Right now I am only working my outpatient nursing job. I am actually making a video about this soon for a nursing and life update to explain further!

Hi Georgia, I am so sorry to hear about this… Do you mind if I asked how you prepared? I know that the NCLEX changed the year after I took it, but I can try to give you some advice if you would like. I hope that you know passing or failing the NCLEX does not represent how you will be as a nurse. You will be a GREAT nurse 😍 The NCLEX is just a test and most of the training you will get is on the job. I have worked with nurses who have had to take the NCLEX multiple times before passing and they are incredible nurses.
