First time PRUNING A BONSAI TREE (Tree of a Thousand Stars)
I'm really sick of silver. It's dated. Would love to spray my kitchen copper instead of staining and greasy stainless. Thinking of Kryloning it.
Ooooh. Do tell how that goes. Always test on something inexpensive first. Lesson learned.
Thanks for helping me.💯💯💯. I love the color. Will it work with dark brown furniture.
Yes, I have dark furniture in a bedroom with this color and it stands out beautifully. The biggest predictor of how this color will look is your lighting.
Love the blue! How long did you wait to buff it after painting with a paint brush? I used it for the first time tonight and feel like I need to let it dry for 24 hours before I buff so it doesn’t come off.
I buffed it after a few minutes. I would love to know how waiting longer works out for you. Best to you!
did you build those screens also? If so, I am curious how/what you use to build them?
No I didn’t. We purchased the home with the covered porch built at the same time as the house. However, it seems quite doable. My neighbor extended hers. It’s metal framing and the screen is sold online because my father in-law replaced his. You can buy one that has clear visibility You can Google screens with thin thread for maximum visibility. Our screens grids are small enough that the gnats don’t bother us here in the south. I’ve also seen wooden enclosures with metal roofs that have screens. Best to you!
Good information
you can do this, but Wood Wizard is still the best and preferred chemical. Using bleach turns the fence gray and destroys the lignin in the wood.
Thank you for sharing. I will look into that.
Thank you! You probably saved me a bunch of headache now that I know how to use it. So to clarify you said to sand and prime before using on furniture handles? And I love the color you chose for the lights.
Yes, find a cheap handle you can practice on and test. For any project where you touch regularly, I would suggest that. Best of luck. I’d love to hear about your success.
Perhaps it would be beneficial to paint the area with regular black or darker paint before the chalk paint if you have light colored walls, so you don’t have to potentially paint so many layers on?
That’s a good idea. I imagine it would only help 😬
Question… did you change your tape in between coats or kept the same tape on? Because I know when you paint with regular tape if you wait until it’s fully dry it can chip the paint
I kept the same
Ugh thank you for this video, i no longer want a chalk board 😂😂😂😂
Better advice? Don’t paint a chalk board on your wall.
🤣 I ended up loving it and use it so much. Everyone who comes over loves it. It ended up being worth it for me but might not be worth it for everyone. Have a lovely weekend!
Where did you get rod’s from ?
I got mine at either Ross,TJMaxx or Marshall’s (can’t remember exactly) but they always have good ones. If you need really long ones also try IKEA
Have you tried using chalk board markers on the surface? I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to use them with the rustoleum brands but I haven’t seen anyone using them on theirs yet. 😖
I have preferred regular chalk but I’ll try and report back
You never mentioned the name of your loquat. Was it a seeding?
Im so sorry that I don’t know the answer to this. I bought this at my local nursery here near Savannah, GA. I can research and see if there’s a common variety around here.
@ That’s ok. I have two that are 15 years old and one has only produced once. I started raising bee’s last year maybe a pollination problem. Also mine might have been seedlings .. Thank you though and your yard is beautiful.
Do you have to use all detergent with pool bleach
I suppose you don’t “have to” but it helps with the wash. You can always test the pool shock alone. Maybe share your results 🥸
Kind of like the up and down.
Thanks for your feedback
Beautiful garden!! I am wondering how far way from your fence did you plant your eagleston trees? Lovely trees!
They’re about 5 feet away but they get trimmed like a hedge so it stays within the air boundaries of my side of the fence. Hope that helps.
The little fuzzies can be nicked off before hand , and you want to use a Some certain leaves not all of them . There are videos that explain what ones I forgot lol
Thank you! Sounds like I should do more research. I appreciate it.
Very good information. Can you tell me where can I buy Chinese pistache tree 30 gls.
I bought this in Atlanta at Pike’s Nursery. I have purchased another tree at fastgrowingtrees.com with success. Best thing is to call your local nurseries and see if they have it or they can get it for you.
Blie is amazing
Thank you! It is a lovely blue for sure. 😊
Thank you so much - this is the exact video I've been looking for to help me with my back yard hedge issue.
Oh that makes me happy to hear
We’ve gone through this with one plant or another. It’s horrible but looking back it was super pretty while I wanted them and then when I wanted to change the flowers thats when I knew. The babies would pop up everywhere. I got it controlled eventually but it’s a pain, like pulling weeds. 🤦🏼♀️ lol. It’s happened to me 3 times on different occasions. Always researched care but never if somethings invasive. Now I know. 😅
Whoa! Yeah when it takes over; it takes over. I’m so glad you finally got that resolved.
I’m doing an under mounted rod. What did you use to hang the rod from? I can’t tell what you did, but looks like it could work for me. I’m having trouble finding the right sized hooks.
Hi there! Under the siding pieces there is wood. Also at the bottom, it was easy to drill holes in the metal. It was easier that I had thought once I got started. Best to you!
Absolutely stunning xxx
Thanks so much ☺️
Cynthia 🎉I have just found your channel. Let me tell you what a joy you are to watch. I found you because of Rub n Buff !! You really helped me save myself from throwing the towel in. Eventually with your honest review & help I eventually worked out why I couldn’t get the black to work ! A faulty batch !!! I’ve used many Rub n buff products before with complete success. Oh not this time. I’m now obsessed with your channel. Sending you hugs from Bonnie Scotland 🏴 Xxxx
Your message warms my heart more than you. Thank you! Glad you are here! ☺️
You Are Annoying..
I trim my lantana into bushes every couple of months so it stays under control. The trimming keeps them blooming year round. My question is what does everyone use to control the worms and caterpillars. I think they are moth caterpillars, not butterflies. They say to spray the entire leaves including the underside but that isn't possible for me because they are trimmed into small bushes. I have tried neem oil but would like to hear what everyone else uses to control this buggers. I am not opposed to insecticides. I do not have lacewings.
You're a queen for this video. Thank you. I tested the rub and buff on something and I couldn't get the finish I wanted. Now I know why.
Thank you for your comment. I’m so glad you found it insightful!
You have made me realize after buying 2 tubes today I should save my money and buy new light pendants and handles. Way too much work!
You can always test on candle holders or something small. I was in too deep to the point of no return 😁. Have a great weekend!
poor thing. blood, sweat and tears - my general results for DIY construction. at least your final results were worth it! thank you for sharing, Cynthia
Thank you for your acknowledgment and yes - us DIY lovers must enjoy the journey cause sometimes it goes in a different direction. And yes, I do love them after all. Thanks! 😊
I'm glad I watched your video. Thank you for your honesty. I think I have to look for a different product for better results.
It’s a good product for certain applications but for example drawer pulls - nope. I wouldn’t do it. Best to you!
Lady, every year, seedlings will come up all over the yard like weeds. You'll have so much fruit that you can't give it all away.
Yes, we have been pulling out the seedlings & weeds but they seem contained in that corner area. I have to pull out weeds in other areas of the yard as well. I don’t mind too much. Your statement is true. And yes we had a lot of fruit this year. We tried different recipes. ☺️
Stitch bean bags to the backside bottom they wont move anynore out side of a fierce storm
Question, I have planted Lantana this spring and it’s grown beautifully. Question I live in NYC. We get a cold winter as low as 32 degrees. Will the lantana come back in the spring. Should I cover them up for the winter ? Thanks for this video.
It really depends on the cultivar that you planted. Some of them go down to 0F, some to 27F etc. If you can remember the name of the cultivar, you can Google by searching the cold hardiness. The great thing is that if they are perennial, you don’t have to worry about them being invasive. 😉
Wow you are so brilliant I love love love your art work.
Thank you!
My goodness, Thank you. I'm in the process and I felt like something was wrong. With each roll I was taking off the paint. I was doing coats back-to-back instead of waiting. But now I see it requires a lot of work. Thanks again Great video!
What zone are you in? These are cute
Hi there! I’m in coastal Georgia zone 8b.
Keith Davey is the male pisache without fruit
Correct, male pistache has no fruit. I believe mine is a male but we’ve seen no flowers of any kind so far. The leaves do turn a pretty red around Thanksgiving time.
The key to pressure washing a wood fence or deck is only use an electric with no higher than 3000 psi. Pine wood is cheap but spend your money on cedar fencing. Will last a lot longer. As far as the staining, Behr is garbage. Always go with Thompsons water Seal. I'm going to use your method of using the heavy duty sprayer with the All mix & the 30 second cleaner. Pool cleaners tend to have more harmful chemicals than salt that will kill grass as well as almost all plants. I've been a landscaper for 36 years. Cover all your plants and grass areas with cloth or plastic tarps. Great video & hello from Seattle!
Thanks for your input. Noted. Have a wonderful weekend!
Big Ditto on that
13 mins to advise me to sand and prime
Cynthia, I love your indoor patio porch. I need that in my life. Can you share the company that built it?
Gosh I wish I could. The indoor patio was built with the house by the home builder and … yes it is the most magical place at home 🪄I would definitely research that possibility. I’ve had a covered porch without the screen also but here in coastal Georgia we need the protection from the gnats. I loved both of the covered porches so much. I won’t buy a home without one. To your dream, go for it!!!
Hilarious that so many insecure men felt the need to criticize and mansplain. Sad…
Can you suggest where I can buy Eagleston Hollies online? I can’t find them in NJ
I’ve only purchased an autumn cherry tree from fast growing trees online but I searched for holly trees and didn’t see the eaglestons there either. One way would be to call local nurseries and ask if their distributors have eaglestons available on special order. Otherwise, I would google and call around. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you a more straightforward answer, but hope this helps in your search.
@@homeandlifewithcynthiathank you for the quick reply. Can you suggest any other tree which I can easily find that grown about the same? I am looking to extend the height of my fence with trees but don’t want to have trees occupying space next to the fence.
I’m so glad I found your video. I’m currently in the middle of painting a wall with chalk paint and your video is going to help so much.
So glad it’s helpful. Best to you with your wall!
You’re beautiful Cynthia, only if you were single…
That’s sweet. Thank you! I hope you are finding the videos useful ☺️
I have a big bright brass chandelier I want to keep gold, but still make it look aged. Do you recommend this product for that? I don't mind if it's imperfect because it will be hanging very high up on our ceiling. Do you recommend this product?
It might work for that because it isn’t going to be touched regularly. Is there any way to test on something similar just so you can see the actual results. But if it’s brass - it will probably help you tone it down to a more preferred look. The product is good. I do recommend it, but I highly recommend testing first.
@@homeandlifewithcynthia So you wouldn't recommend it on black cabinet handles? Because I wanted to try those too.
@@homeandlifewithcynthia I tried it, and it came out great!!
Has the creator of this video seen the Newport RI exhibit ... The Great Elephant Migration?? Am sure you would be VERY interested!🐘🌿
I have not. I will definitely look into it. Thank you for sharing!
How far apart did you plant them??
Hi there! 5.5 feet from center
Thank you, THANK YOU, for this review! It helped sooooooo much, I was trying to apply it to my handles, and I could not figure out why it wasn't working! By the way, I love your pendant lights, lovely and classy!
Thanks so much for your feedback
