Great seeing this again! This pairing of Alice with the great Helen Hayes was a TV generation gap bridging on a par with David Bowie singing with Bing Crosby. And Alice acquitted himself nicely here. He does a great job as the witch/performer. 🔮✨📺

This is interesting to hear, I do like Dave Walker with Savoy Brown but he really doesn't fit into the Black Sabbath mold & sound. Hearing this version really shows just how much Ozzy brings to the table with all his vocal melodies. The parts here where Dave stops singing on the chorus I believe is one of the parts where Ozzy really belts out a melody that brings such emotion to this song. That is what is missing ... the emotion Ozzy brought to this song. To be honest though & objective, I bought Never Say Die when it came out when I was 13 and wore the LP out so hearing a different structure with the melody & certain lyrics missing sounds dull & is lacking the dark sadness Ozzy brought to this song. Dave Walker is better in a straight up Blues/Rock Band. He is sort of a strange fill in for Sabbath. I can whistle Ozzy's vocal melodies but would never be able to whistle what Dave Walker is singing here.

Why the stage gear and pyro…for a studio…,

I haven't seen this since it came out in the 80s. I remembered the lyrics saying "Never make me." I now know I wasn't too far off. Chips was the bomb. My favorite episode was when Ponch dove in the Echo Park Lake to get someone out of a van. I grew up in Echo Park. I was excited to see my neighborhood on TV.

You know how you'd never know a British rock star was British until they spoke? When they sing they sound American? With Larry there's no doubt. He's that rare example of "British singing."

It wouldn't goes far without Ozzy's vocal, no melody, sounds like Black Sabbath when they were playing blues. Even if Ozzy voice isn't great it's unique and he knows how to put memorable melodies in songs that makes them sticks to your mind.

It’s crazy thinking about this brief era, Ozzy was out, temporarily, sabbath was a brand , its members were out of ideas, punk snd new wave were on the horizon and the dio era was coming . Never say die , bought the album saw them play it live with van halen as openers . I like everything the original 4 did.

A Sabbath with Dave Walker would have worked. Sabbath started as a blues band and having a bluesier singer is not the mismatch some people might think it is. Put some bottom end on this and it would be some heavy stuff.

He is 100 times better singer than Ozzy
