I want to try different constructions. Before last year I had only done raglans. in 2024 I tried set in sleeve, and knit in pieces. This year I want to try saddle and contiguous. I also want to stop the scrolling, so I have a rule of myself that i ignore the youtube homepage on the app, I open it and go directly to subscriptions or watch later. I have changed my browser youtube bookmark to my subscription feed instead of the homepage. See if that helps :)

Lovely! I make yogurt and granola for my kids too. I like that it’s less wasteful and I don’t have to worry about using plastic or if it will be recycled. For the yogurt I’ve been able to use a little from one batch to start the next.

I want this year for me to be more intentional, in all the things. Spending less frivolously, making more dinners from scratch, moving more and sharing what I love. Yes to all the woodland greens and browns and forestry inspired colors.

I have a goal to try knitting socks again (it's been a few years), to use stash yarn or donate it if I just can bring myself to use some of the ick colors I have, and to take more time to enjoy the process rather than rushing through everything.

Earthy greens are my favorite too! Also I basically ALWAYS knit socks toe-up (and I knit a LOT of socks). Just easier for me to gauge yarn usage that way, and I hate heel flaps and picking up stitches so much lol.

Nimble needles has a customizable toe up sock that might be up your alley. It teaches how to measure gauge and your foot, then how to calculate your sock pattern. He has written and video instructions.

Really enjoyed this video. Since you asked, I will tell you as a 73 year old I do NOT make New Year resolutions, nor do I choose a word for the year. My life goal is to remain healthy so I can attend my grandchildren's activities. We have 11 grands aged 21 to 5. They are all very active in sports, band, orchestra, theater, etc. so we are often out and about. 😊 Happy New Year to you and your family.

You might enjoy the The Mirror Visitor Quartet by Christelle Dabos (fantasy) and The Priory of the Orange Tree + A Day of fallen night by Samantha Shannon (also fantasy). Neither are smutty and are very focused on world building and once you start I tend not to be able to put them down.

I made fingerless mitts with short rows once, and loved the way they fit! They curved a bit around my index fingers, in a warm delicious way. I hope you enjoy your gloves! Also, you may enjoy reading NKJemisin. She is a fantastic sci-fi world builder, and includes a lot of non-white characters, which is different for sci-fi. There is a bit of smut in her books, but you could easily skip it- it isn't the main story at all. My favorite so far is her Broken Kingdom series.

I'm knitting a vest for my dad with Caron Simply Soft in "off white". It's very shiny and does fuzz up if you make a garment as you work on it, I feel like acrylic yarns tend to do this. It is quite soft and I rate it an 8/10, one of the best acrylic yarns. Knit Picks has a pretty good selection of wool and cotton yarns that won't break the bank for those who are sock knitters. I personally love Stroll, knitted maybe 2-3 pairs with one ball (colorwork or contrasting heel/toes). CotLin is also decent (not my fav but preferred over Sugar N Cream imo). I have yet to find cotton yarn that feels nice and also decent enough to knit with besides CotLin.

I use the library app Hoopla. Last year I really enjoyed "Murderbot Diaries " series by Martha Wells. Don't let the title throw you. It was a great series.

I am doing the Yuletide socks and like the contrasting green you used for heels/toes/cuffs. It looks like it is a good match for the green in the Yuletide. What yarn and colorway did you use in the green?

It sounds like the sci-fi novel trilogy "Eve of Man" might be a great fit for you! :)

Have you ever tried Russian grafting? It creates a lovely pattern on one side and is pretty invisible on the other. I am currently knotting the Easy Cosy sweater by Yamagara and this technique was used. Very Pink knits has a good tutorial for it.🙂

I love that you are treating yourself to a little time for art every day in December. What a great "advent" idea. I love the idea of the drop spindle sticker. I'm sorry about everything your mom is going through right now. My mom was battling breast cancer when I was pregnant and having my third baby and it definitely overshadowed everything. And I also understand your youngest growing up. My youngest will be 10 this year and I've already shed a few years over it. Time marches on.❤🧶🙏

The new location for the chairs is perfect! I get the post Christmas blues too, and sometimes don’t feel well either - hormones and or food that I don’t eat often can make it worse.

Oh my goodness, I write on our Christmas packages in sharpie too 😂 and yeah, our kitten does the same thing in our couch, except then since she’s only a few months old she jumps out and attacks anyone who walks by….

I feel ya on the community and feel for Christmas just not being present this year. I was feeling super festive and in the spirit at the start of the month but as the month when I both me and my husband noticed that business and communities just weren’t there. This is the first year supermarkets didn’t play Christmas music and the staff didn’t get dress up. The church on our block didn’t even do a tree or Christmas lights. The local pub had a sign advertising Christmas dinner but they had no music playing or decorations outside. And I found getting Christmas themed food really difficult. I couldn’t make my Christmas cookies as I went to 4 different stores and no one had cranberries!! Usually I get Christmas themed sandwiches at my works cafe but there wasn’t any. Don’t know why. Kinda ruined the spirit for us a little. But at least our house had lights and Christmas music on repeat.

I love your vintage sweater so much. I was hoping someone had converted it to a knitting pattern but I was unable to find one. But eBay came to the rescue! I just ordered one!
